- This is a long one but I wanted to try and cover as much as possible, about 2/3 the way through the build I just went forward without talking and finished the darn thing because I knew the video was geting long. Hope you can bear with it and perhaps find the time to make your own, and let me know if you do.

That was a very "carpenter" approach, which is actually refreshing after watching all the perfect-every-time fine woodworkers make planes... 😁👍
Yurp, and...AND...there's blood in this video, so there's definitely some skin in the game.
Amazing build! Between you and Rex Kruger's channel I'm am learning a whole new level of carpentry that was never covered in the carpentry class I took 5 years ago.
Can’t have this list without Paul Sellers too.
Excellent practical project, I’ve learnt a great deal from this project and have been inspired to attempt something similar. Well done !
I will probably never even use a plane like that, and certainly wouldn't try restoring one, but I found this video absolutely fascinating and highly entertaining. Thank you so much for "...Just trying to do it" and sharing with us how you "figure it out as you go."
I'm needing to make wooden replacements for my old worn out metal hand planes. I have a few wooden ones and I love them. This video will help a lot when I go to build the new ones. Thanks for posting.
Wow! Pecan! That's nuts!
LOL I see what ya did there.
Tremendous,,one of the most interesting videos I've seen in quiet a while.
And me shouting "router plane" all the time you were working down those wedge grooves in the side ... "Don't need no fancy 'chinery' .." he grumbled. Now for a little more refining on that chip relief. And a little shaping of the body to make it more comfy... Yeah, fun times in the shop.
Your drill press table flexes when you used that forstner bit for the handle mortise. It looked like is moved a few degrees out of square.
Somthing I have wanted/ need to do. Nice job.
Impressive build. Good watch.
No other word but awesome. Thank you for this video.
Nice. Time for some chain saw video
Bloody great job ,beautiful piece of work and you can't beat a nice wooden plane..
It looks great!
Come for the plane making, stay for the philosophy! 😅 Good on you for going ahead and doing something!
Wait- I’m confused:::( no fancy shop worth a million in tools given by the tool sponsors, no bad jokes, just plane ol’ carpentry skills and tools.
Just found your channel and subbing :-) thanks
Grate Build!!
Great video Cy... every time I make something I’m wondering which power tool I need and I forget there are a whole plethora of hand tools that will do the job in half the time with no setup 😁
I have been wondering about cutting the grooves for the wood wedge before glue up, and you provided the solution. I think I would make a vertical straight edge to guide the saw, which might be easier than the way you did it. I would need 2 for the 2 different angles, 1 to 1 1/2 inches high. I have seen people put some rare earth magnets in this type of guide to hold the saw vertical. Nice job.
Beautiful!!!!
Wow! I really enjoyed this video! I have been wanting to try building some wooden planes myself, but there is NO thick pieces of hardwood here. I can get it 12" wide by 3/4" thick. I think i will try laminating myself!
Where are you? Maybe I can send you something solid.

Absolutely fantastic. Great video and explanation, I will definitely try to build one. Would a front knob, would help in the use? Thanks for bringing joy to wood working.
Amazing job! Enjoyed and learned a lot watching this. Thank you for posting! Btw I’ll take one lol
Fantastic build. Wish I had your skills with tools.
By the way - I notice you skipped the flaring out part of the top part of the shavings escape area that the old plane had. Does it affect planing shavings of the full width of the blade?
Ten thumbs up!
Not quite sure why you couldn’t modify the original plane. Didn’t seem a lot wrong with it.
Making jointer planer with the jointer 🤦
