Oh man… it’s been a long time since playing with axes… don’t judge me. Hope you enjoy this video! Learn more about Warwood Tool and the “Perfect Axe” here: bit.ly/warwood-axe
Hey love your videos and was kinda hoping I could get you to check out Jay Fisher out of Clovis NM and possibly review one of his masterpieces.he has the most beautiful and high quality knives I've ever seen... Something I know you can appreciate
Thank you for informing me about the Warwood Tool Company. It is great to find an axe made in America and in Wheeling West Virginia close to the Pittsburgh area. I enjoy your videos and reviews of new products.👍🙂
I happened upon this channel not just because Melissa is beautiful but her content is amazing. I’ve started binge watching and I’m afraid I’m going to go broke buying a lot of these knives.
Really glad you did this review. I am very thankful that I was able to place an order for the axe you reviewed... supporting a US company with such a legacy is important to me.
Great video, Melissa Backwoods. The Kelly Bevels work well to reduce friction while the wedge splits the wood. Great history of an American, family-owned company. I thought Ontario Knife Co. was the oldest, operating blade company in the US ... oh, contraire ....
Nice video, just want to say thank you for turning me to weather wool. I saw your video of your anorak and bought some items from them. Plus this axe is also American made and American company.
That is great to hear! The owner Ralph is such a great human, too so it’s always good to support great people, appreciate the kind words, and I hope you have a wonderful week!
When I was a kid we heated the house with firewood....and that was northern Minnesota, so Guess how much wood I split as a kid? Lol. Fun video, thanks for posting!
Very cool! My boyfriend’s family had a woodstove ! I told him to make sure to watch this video to make sure I didn’t look too silly and he approved haha
You did great, looked very convincing. I never hurt myself very bad with an ax, but i DID get a chainsaw chain stuck in my kneecap once....needless to say, didn't feel good and thanks to lighning reflexes, at least I didn't cut my leg in half...lol. BE CAREFUL with axes...AND chainsaws!@@MelissaBackwoods
When you revealed the axe from its leather cover, the finish of the iron is one of a kind… by the way, the satisfaction from taking down a tree is good 😂
"Use another piece of wood to stabilize the piece you are splitting" (after years of trying to balance the piece of wood I am splitting, I feel like a dork) BTW I like your vast knowledge you share about blades and such.
In order to protect yourself and the blade (to avoid hitting rocks) Tip: place the wood as you stated to the correct height, (no short cuts). Then place a "safety roll", (that is shorter than the target roll). If you miss intended "target rool", or "skip of the roll" the "safety roll" will catch the strike. I developed the technic to teach new ax(e) kids (Safety First), a modification from the "Crazy Russian" channel (who lays a smaller longer log "sideways" between target roll and ax(e) swinger). Enjoy the tip and pass it on.
Awesome my chore list for tomorrow is to use a council tool Hudson bay 23". I've never been interested in axes but a couple months ago the axe bug bites me and there following me home against my wife's wishes and to my boys delight. I have a set routine for testing out a knife or firearm but this video gives me some ideas. Thanks again for great content! I think how you mixed in some history and basic anatomy was beneficial cutting straight to this city boys heart. Sucks my local Walmart doesn't sell suspenders😒
Two axes. Sharp for chopping. Dull for splitting. Swedish Arvika at 4.5 pounds is a nice axe. Northwest Canada I've used the Trojan High Test, hardwood splitting axe. It's an Australian product. 7 pounds with a 7 inch edge. It's what the loggers use in chopping competitions. Please NEVER split wood with a sharp axe. It will cut in too deep and stick. Plus, accidents happen splitting wood. Sharp axe you might bleed out. Dull axe, you might get a serious bruise. Been doing this more than 30 years. Please. Safety First.!
В России ,дрова колят Топором под названием ,колун Его не точат и он толще и тяжелее чем у этой девушки а такие поленья что на видео Я ребенком 8лет колол обычным топориком ,а вот берёзовые да ещё большие чурки .
Thank you for introducing Warwood Tool Company of which I was not aware. Please don't split wood without some kind of chopping block. As you split the wood, the axe continues through into the gravel & rocks often with terrible damage to the axe head cutting edge.
You can tell with the cautionary stance in this that I was a little apprehensive. Definitely had been been a minute since I have used an ax, and I was on the side of caution. 😆
Seems like a nice hunting/camping axe. Unfortunately, I have a great quality axe made by Hults Bruk...but something like this might be a good gift for my dad.
If you're a fan of Abraham Lincoln, you've probably heard his famous quote: “If I only had an hour to chop down a tree, I would spend the first 45 minutes sharpening my axe.” The are variations on the time in this quote, but this one makes the most sense.
Melissa, I use the sand paper method on my axes. And ya better put the “Mask” back on the “Bit”, I usually finish with a 3,000 grit and a Strop, and it’ll shave. A sharp tool is a useful tool, a dull tool is useless tool. Good to see ya do a little Bush-Craft, good job,,,,,,, God Speed, and see ya at Smoky Mountain Knife Works, or maybe the “House Mountain Trail”. Semper Fi,,,
After seeing your video, i was curious about this. I called the company to ask a few questions and purchase this axe. Questions were answerd, was told someone was going to call me back. 2 days later, nobody called me back. Not a good look for a company launching a new product. Never in my life have i had a company not want to take my money and sell me a product. I guess i will stick with gransfors bruks! What a shame, axe looks promising!
I wonder how much repeated force it can handle before the head flies off. I've got a cheap Husky axe head lodged in the side of my shed from this season's splitting. Needed something fast and it lasted maybe a week. Got my money's worth, it seems.
Enjoyed the video. The higher/taller the chopping block, the less swing and velocity that is needed to split that knotty wood. Keep your chopping block kinda low.
You got pretty good form just read your wood honey every piece of wood has a natural grain split in the center of it once you find that sweet spot the natural split that's the spot you want to set your axe into. Read the sides of your Woods you don't want to be splitting where there's knots you want to avoid that as much as possible it's more feasible to take the natural split and it was split a lot easier . God bless you and by the way you look hot in that flannel shirt oh my my God Bless America honey🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙊🙉🙈✌✌✌✌✌👏👏👏👏😏
Something you know,... you're skillful beyond, have knowledge beyond, and oh yea... have a gorgeous beyond! Thank you for all that you do, and all that you are!!!, be well!!! What do you think of the axes and hatches offered by REI. ALDER is the brand?
Well, that was a good job. I’m glad you used and axe They are several other ladies on UA-cam that are using access to chop wood. I think you did a great job. I like the history that you told about that particular brand of axe I enjoyed your video as usual you can get suspenders that you can hook them on your belt. They seem to hold better. They don’t have The little pinchers You can slip them under your belt anyway good job, young lady as usual and we appreciate you
Thank you for the nice words, I’m sure those ladies not know a lot more than me. I’m not the most knowledgeable in axes, but have used a few in my day, this video was so fun to make.
Gloves, longer distance between handle and axe head never use axe at that level never use axe without eye protection... these tips will help to avoid Emergency room visits and blisters and split more wood with less energy.

Right on! It’s been a minute since I’ve used an axe, but it was very funny using in this video
No braids were chopped in the making of this awesome video😊
Thank goodness

Very nice look with the suspenders and so informative at the same time.
Prettiest lumberjack ever, thanks for the demo. I remember seeing that logo before.

Thanks!
Really glad you did this review. I am very thankful that I was able to place an order for the axe you reviewed... supporting a US company with such a legacy is important to me.
That is a nice axe. I have over 100 axes. Not heard of this company. I want to check them out. Amazing review 🙏🏿🇺🇸
Liking that axe. North America has an awesome history in axe use 🇳🇿 🇺🇸
Great video Melissa. Very nice tool.
Glad to see Warwood getting some luv. They make great products. I grew up about 6 miles from them.
Nice to see the Lumber Melissa make an appearance. Suits you well. Great video.
Glad you liked it!

awesome Video Melissa, that made me smile..take care
I've been wearing suspenders for a couple of years now. I LOVE them!!!
✌💀👍❤🌹🇺🇸
Bet they don’t look as good on you as they do on her 😂
Nice video Melissa. Great info about the company.
Good job Melissa
Thank you, Miss backwoods
When you revealed the axe from its leather cover, the finish of the iron is one of a kind… by the way, the satisfaction from taking down a tree is good 😂
Great long format video. Keep up the good work!
If there ever was a Ms. Bunyan.. Nice axe, great name, LOVE the suspenders.
Good on ya mate .nice to see people swinging an axe.
Thank you for this video. Very informative!

Oh by the way, I think you could handle a Helko 4lbs racing ax(e) if you had to. Thus a good reason to protect the sharp edge.
On you suependers and elastic sweater double alligator clips, to keep them in place.

This is terrible advice.
@@WannabeWoodsman Then you are a definite wannabe. I've been bucking and splitting wood for 40 years. How about you?
Thank you for introducing Warwood Tool Company of which I was not aware. Please don't split wood without some kind of chopping block. As you split the wood, the axe continues through into the gravel & rocks often with terrible damage to the axe head cutting edge.
Axe Partner. Nice. Glad you didn't chop any limbs off.

I agree. She should do more axe videos! 👍👍
Mellisa❤❤❤ respect 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You know, I really don’t have much need for an axe, but there’s just something cool about owning nice stuff, especially American made.
Looks like a well made ax and made in the USA 🇺🇸
Always remember when felling trees to watch out for possible kickback when tree falls
Thanks for Sharing
Looks like a great axe ,I like the handle 👍🏼
I kept holding my breath till you chopped the tree down. Put you’re brand on the axe Melissa! 🪓
It was so awkward, trying to get it from that angle with the other tree in the way ha ha
