Just bought myself a blade from Ben tendick. Made from Cpm 3v with a heat treat. Now that is the blade of the year. A blade that can cut through bolts without signs of deformation. Love your videos

Ah Melissa, glad to know that you too are left handed. This makes your reviews even more important to me. I don't buy a lot of knives because they aren't ambi. I would love to see a list of your favorite lefty friendly knives.
I recently just obtained the Kershaw Iridium. It can be found for $57 and is one of my favorite lefties thus far!
@@MelissaBackwoods Hi. Fellow lefty knife nut from Chicago. I picked up the Kizer Begleiter 2 button lock with 154cm and micarta. It surprisingly works great for a lefty. I actually think the knife works better for lefties than righties. It's only $58.80. Other lefty knives I have are some Chris reeves left frame locks, spyderco pm2 lefty, and obviously any axis like or back lock is totally ambi.

Good ol' paracord. My platoon dad used to send us to rigging detail just to steal paracord off the bum chutes. Seemed kind of crazy since our lives depended on the chute working.

Honestly this might sound cliche but how is it even possible for person to get so damn beautiful?, life is but wonderful, knife collector myself(From South Africa) we have different brands and designs which suit our needs, My collection spans over 150 knives passed down from generations and it keeps growing. I recently found your channel and I am working my way through your videos. I apologize if I have overlooked any video on this but I carry a Swiss tinker as my edc but I have been interested in a knife that is an assist or easy-ish open blade but still has some other functionality besides cutting. Would you or any of your viewers have any suggestion's?

I feel your pain being a lefty myself. I pretty much carry a Spyderco PM2 left handed everyday, but I’m anxious awaiting the delivery of a Microtech MSI to see if it can dethrone the Spyderco.
Basically a dolled up Ace Clyde. I have the same knife in Micarta w/ elmax. Its awesome.

Melissa, watching you with getting and opening packages or boxes cracks me up cause I get just as excited if not more. Absolutely beautiful knife. Especially the design and materials. The martini glass explanation is priceless. The price is not for me, despite how much I would love to have one. Unfortunately, due to "markets" am maxed out on investments at this time. With each passing video, I've noticed that you've gotten more relaxed and are doing fantastic. Keep up the posts and reviews. Always look forward to see what cool blade you've got to share. Yeah giant mouse is actually pretty premium brand i think because they use expensive materials, and such its kinda like they only pretty good value compared to other more expensive brands sometimes. This is also quite a bit above their usual, and its also only limited run i think.

I like the overall design of the GiantMouse GMX, I really like trailing point blades, I own folders like Kizer Nomad or Rike Lamella and fixed like Fox Perser or Microtech Borka SBK, what I don't like about the GMX is the bolster plate.
Understandable. I actually love the bolster plate and it’s one of my favorite parts about it. This is why I love Knives because we all have different opinions on what we like 😊 the trailing points are really cool to me and not as common in EDC blades

Very nice unbox. ❤ On the Ambi thing, frame locks are usually one side only aren't they. Much easier with a liner lock to make Ambi, but I am not left handed. Your thoughts on frame vs liner lock?
Yes, I generally prefer liner locks for that reason alone ha. also like how liner locks are a bit easier to disengage usually :)
@MelissaBackwoods If you loosen your grip on the frame at your fingertips, it is usually a bit easier, but when you are cutting that grip on the frame helps keep the lock engaged
You should do a day at the beach with knives and where to conceal them video.
Sometimes i hate being left handed because i will never fully enjoy things that are made for right handed people

@@windowbreezes you for got ingenuity. I have figured out a few elaborate ways for opening all my right handed knives lol. The most common of which involves holding the spine of the blade and flipping my wrist in a clockwise rotation.

If you like middle flicking this knife still works for a lefty. I know a few friends in the union who have one and they're south paws. They love it. I have the pirate version. I'm ambidextrous and can flick it as well.

I’ve never liked blade tips that high above the pivot . They keep making though so someone does 😮. I can say that driver has worked good for me and the cheap husky one at Home Depot . I must have ground the tips down 3-4 times already instead of buying new bits .

It’s beefy and framelock so it’s 💪🏽 but I would not want to beat it up, I’d definitely treat more like a collectors peice!
I saw all your awesome shorts and I have a question. I recently bought a knife that looks a lot like the 'Reate EXO-K Gravity Karambit Button Lock Knife Tan Aluminum', only you have to open it manually, as in pull the blade out, and it's make from steel. The ring you stick your finger through also has a little pyramid shaped knob on it so that can function as a single finger brass knuckle. However.... I am quite tall (1.85cm, like 6'1") and as a result I have fairly large hands and fingers.... now my index finger won't possibly fit through that stupid hole of the ring. I feel it's made for a little girl while the grip/handle of the knife fits perfectly in my hand. So.... how do I get a knife with a big hole? (Sorry for phrasing it that way... ;-) )

Not sure what you mean 😅 they actually like other otf blades :)
@@MelissaBackwoods on some of the cheaper OTF knives when you extend the blade out and then say poke the blade at a piece of wood, the knives have a sort of failsafe mechanism that pushes the blade back into the handle when met with a solid force.
Looking for an OTF that doesnt have that failsafe, blade should stay out even if poked into wood

Yikes- was wanting to pick up a knife soon- would be my first decent one. Would you not recommend benchmade? They seem well reviewed. This one is like double what I was thinking of spending- not sure if it’s worth it as I don’t know knives super well yet

I got the GMXP. I do like it but don’t edc… the clip fail, bent out of shape and wouldn’t bent back properly. Due to pocketing at back pocket and after sitting down it bend out of shape. Is there any way to purchase a new clip?! Thanks.

That "little thing right there" on th epocket clip is called a nubbin.
$435 they can keep it. You can score a Victorinox Alox Hunter with thumb stud and deep carry pocket clip. Also is that a mouse in your pocket or you just happy to see me? Sorry had to.
Actually it's $445 which is a complete buzz kill for me. Plus, I don't like its shape. I think you end up paying for name recognition and bragging rights for winning best in show. PKS knives made by Dave Canterbury's knife shop is more my style- currently sporting the "Scorpion" . . . takes me to my happy space.
