Texas State Highway 130 (SH 130), also known as the Pickle Parkway, is a highway from Interstate 35 (I-35) in San Antonio along I-410 and I-10 to east of Seguin, then north as tollway from there to I-35 north of Georgetown.[1] SH 130 runs in a 131-mile (211 km) corridor east and south of Austin. The route parallels I-35 and is intended to relieve the Interstate's traffic volume through the San Antonio-Austin corridor by serving as an alternate route.
The highway was developed in response to the tremendous surge in truck traffic on the I-35 corridor brought on by the North American Free Trade Agreement during the late 1990s, especially truck traffic originating from Laredo, where the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reported 150 trucks entering the United States every hour. A proponent of the highway's development, Capital Area Transportation Coalition, said that congestion along the I-35 corridor is costing businesses more than $194 million a year in higher operating costs and lost productivity.
The highway is noted for having a speed limit of at least 80 mph (130 km/h) along its tolled section. The 41-mile (66 km) section of the toll road between SH 45 and I-10 has a posted speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h), the highest posted speed limit in the United States.

Absolutely incredible!!! I just was on vacation in Austin 2 months ago and we took a special trip out to SH-130 just to drive on America’s Fastest Highway. Absolutely the most incredible feeling ever!!!! 😊
How much did you pay for the excursion? SH-130 is a roll road.
What would you say the average speed is? Cause on most highways people cruise at about 7-12mph over the limit

Those are rookie numbers. I drove 135 MPH on the german highway with a Ford Fiesta and it isnt illegal
That's a hell of a speed limit! 85 is rather fast (even though it somehow didn't look quick in the video)! I usually see between 55-70 in highways, though often 60, because I'm from Maryland. 85 mph is potentially dangerous in a low-hp 4 cylinder common car, but very fun in a muscle car with huge V8s. But, remember in the 1980s when old cars had the ridiculous 85 mph speedos? I own a '89 Crown Victoria (loved that big solid car), and I can't imagine having to max out the reading and STILL find that the speed is legal! I recall when going beyond 85, the needle would actually keep going and sink all the way down until you can't see it (the speedo was square keep in mind). Crazy.
I own a 268 hp Toyota Camry, It was stable at 148 mph.
At 150 it will fly!!

Yet in California on one part of I-15 in Escondido there is 8 lanes and people cut eachother off when one is going 50 and the other is going 100 leading to accidents. Hate how we can never have a 2 laner without traffic

I agree DPS are not doing there jobs! All slow traffic should be in the right lane, and fast in the left lanes. Being a truck driver. Mountains causes a lot of accidents You got loaded trucks moving slower than the empty trucks, and going down the mountain the same thing The loaded ones must slow down for there weight and there brakes get hot and do not hold ~ why they got runaway ramps

Generally, people on the American highway tend to speed on it. The reason being that the highway has high speed limits to begin with. The highest here in NYC is 65MPH. On the American highway though, people tend to speed 20MPH above the limit. Like, in 45MPH zones, drivers go 65MPH. And in 65MPH zones, people go 85. So, people on the fastest speed limit, 85MPH, would probably go 105MPH. That is, of course, if their cars can even make it up to such a speed.

Majority of cars can do 100mph with ease. Mine is 20 years old Honda and can do 160mph.
For you Americans it must be a real shock. In Europe, the speed limit has always been 75 or 80 mph.
I've been to Texas once or twice in my life. Everything is flat and everything is spaced far out. If you want to go anywhere, it's far away. No wonder there's an 85MPH speed limit!
This weekend I was on I37 going from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, and the "flow of traffic" was about 85.
You could possibly use the highway for a runway for airplanes if the speed limit gets even higher

Most people go 80+ on Fl interstate highways(I75,10,4 95). If you ain't goin' fast you gettin' passed. DO NOT hang out in the middle lane. You're in the way. lol It's crazy.

I think 75 - 80 is fine for most modern cars on a good road... Most highways like this are protected by fences for animals...
