They released 6 albums between '68 and' 70 and were crushing it. The number of hits in such a short time was and is amazing. The album version of this runs just over 11 minutes and there's a great jam at the end.
I just found out Did You Ever Hear The Rain is about the breakup of the band when Tom Fogerty wanted to write his own stuff etc, wanted to be The Main Character, he failed pretty hard. Loved the song already but it really gives me the feels now
Thank you for recognizing that they don't make music like this anymore. And the talent that existed back in the days of my generation. I hope you continue to explore.
CCR had so many hits. Check out: Fotunate Son Lookin' Out My Back Door Bad Moon Rising Green River Lodi Up and Around the Bend Have You Ever Seen the Rain Born on the Bayou Proud Mary
All Credence Clearwater Revival music is amazing, really amazing. They were so important in the movement against the war in Viet Nam. Even if you don't react to it online, just for you to listen too, they had hit after hit, after hit. Thanks for realizing how good they are. Love you.
This is one of the best covers of this song. CCR nailed it and the album version turns into a 15 minute jam session with John Fogarty killing a guitar solo.
I'm 78 years old. The Bob Seegar song Night Moves reads the soul of every guy of my generation. Another anthem is the song by the Marshall Tucker Band called Cant You See . Welcome to the 60s
You need to take a look at either "I Put A Spell On You"(a cover from "Screamin Jay Hawkins") or "Born On The Bayou" from them If not more they have a great catalogue.
You could really go down a rabbit hole with CCR. John Fogerty was the songwriter, vocalist, and lead guitar. This is one of their few covers. People called it Swamp Rock. Some recommended songs from the original 68-72 CCR run: Born on the Bayou Run Through The Jungle Proud Mary Lookin out my back door Down on the Corner Midnight Special Fortunate Son Lodi Have you Ever Seen the Rain? That intro is one of the most instantly recognizable pieces of music in the history of rock and roll. If I’m not mistaken it’s one of a handful of songs that were forbidden in many music stores. There are only so many times you can listen to a teenager trying to play it, when they probably have no intention of buying a guitar. I’m glad you discovered CCR. Welcome to our world, where the music is awesome!
It actually was appealed and wound up to the Supreme Court. The decision was that an artist’s style cannot be copyrighted. That decision had broad implications allowing artists to continue with their art.
I enjoyed your reaction! I laughed when you said I'm still bopping my head when there's no music playing! Thanks it made my day! This song brings back memories,
My favorite band since 1968 . This is a rabbit hole worth going down deep . "Long as I can See The Light " still makes me cry after hundreds of listens .
Before they hit it big, they were playing at a restaurant/beach hut on the beach in Galveston Texas. My husband, who was young at the time, got to sit in with them. My husband played a wicked good harmonica. That’s one of his best experiences/memories ever.
This is the edited version of this CCR classic. The "Cosmos Factory" cut is 11:04 of awesomeness. You really need to get that version and get the full immersion of this great song. John Fogerty and the band were on their game with this great song.
My next-door neighbor had cosmo’s factory on an 8 track. Every time I’d get in his car when we’d go cruising, I’d put that in and play the hell out of this song. It got to the point he’d have to hide cosmo’s factory from me whenever we’d head out for the night. What memories.
Ha ha, ha. I had forgotten that! Now those raisins are totally in my head!

Awesome reaction Brother...thanks and keep up your journey into some of the best music ever made. The 60's, 70's, 80's had some of the most unique music from some of the most talented artists ever. I applaud your willingness to open your mind and explore. God bless.
This was one of my dad's favorite bands. Absolutely fantastic music. Fortunate son is an absolute banger and one of the greatest Vietnam protest songs ever written.
This song was used in the iconic California Raisens commercials. They was in movies on the radio and known worldwide in the late 80s to mid 90s..but it was the Marvin Gaye rendition
"Born On The Bayou" from Credence is another big one. Or, for one of a hundred plus other rock groups of high value, try The Doors-- "Riders On The Storm".
I’m 64 and can remember receiving CCR’s Green River I was 9 when I got it-56 yrs later I love it even more❤ The Blonde guitarist and singer are brothers . It’s sad they broke up and many fences were never mended😢John Fogerty was difficult perfectionist to get along with. Sad knowing that, especially between the Fogerty Brothers A few of their Songs are featured in major Viet Nam Movies
There's another great upbeat song by CCR with sad and even apocalyptic lyrics that you should react to and that's "bad moon rising" (and pretty much every song by them is reaction Worthy)
UNDERRATED FOREVER priceless band with endless bangers, ughh they played a live performance welcoming Vietnam vets back from the war and goosebumps are an understatement.
It was 5 years ago today that I saw Fogerty at the Red Rocks in CO. On his 50th anniversary tour. Trust me when I say that you could close your eyes, and swear you were listening to his record, (in the same key no less). It was a great concert in the beautiful Red Rocks.
Try I put a spell on you live. It's fire . Great band Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️ BTW so glad you're going down the classic rock road❤ There's more to the song I don't know why it cut off on you .Try Lynyrd Skynyrd they're fire.
I was born in 1940. I listen to big bands with crooners, country that played on the radio all day at home, experiencing early rock continuing to the great music of the 60s,70s, 80s and 90s. I LOVE music. But CCR is one of my favorites and at 84 I still dance around to our wonderful music. I thank God for all their talent.
Cliff, towards the end you said "blood, sweat, and tears" which the actual name of a band from the same time period. Check out Go Down Gamblin' or Lucretia McEvil from them, you won't be disappointed.
You think this is heartbreaking? Try The Righteous Brothers singing "You've lost that lovin' feeling". No one is telling him, he is drawing clues from her behavior. Blue-Eyed Soul at it's finest.
Ahh Motown. Marvin Gaye’s rendition is most famous. Gladys Knight & the Pips did it first then CCR threw some rock into it. All great and released between 67-70. CCRs Fortunate Son is a must! You probably heard it in every Vietnam movie you’ve ever seen. Fogerty’s take on the class system during war. And speaking of Motown there’s a whole era to dig into! Try Gaye’s version, How Sweet It Is, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough to name a few. The Supremes, Temptations, Spinners, Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson…a lot of rock artists were inspired by Motown soul.
Covered by three different legendary artists. All brought their own unique stamp to the song and all had big hits with it. I can't say who did my favorite rendition but I did see Gladys Knight and the Pips perform it live back in the seventies. Amazing!
“No don’t be over!” Say no more. Totally you really can’t replicate this music sadly anymore. So loaded with soul. Can’t get more real authentic and raw. And I lived it.
When you said that you wish you were born in a different time period, it reminded me of what my son (37 years old) said to me when he took me to see Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Edgar Winter in concert for my birthday! He said, "Mom I wish I was there when this music was going on!" Classic rock is now his favorite genre! By the way, check out Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Edgar Winter!
There are so many great songs, It is pleasing to see someone appreciate it. Not to say that there isn't some crap out there, but a lot of it has been filtered out. ENJOY!
The Music industry has gone....down the toilet.!!! Which begs the question....Why are people wasting their time with it.?? People today should be supporting bands that are real musicians.
He Cliff, sending positive vibes your way. One song that I think will be mind blowing to you is "Bread and Butter" from The Newbeats. Also, I think you should react to "Abracadabra" from the Steve Miller Band. Have a great day.
"I Heard it through the Grapevine" was released by Gladys Knight & the Pips in 1967; Marvin Gaye covered it in 1969 and CCR in 1970. CCR had a string of hits including "Fortunate Son", "Who'll Stop the Rain", "Have You Even Seen the Rain" & "Travelin' Band". Thanks for playing this & your comments. Here's another one that sounds like a bop (but is an anti-Vietnam war song) "War" by Edwin Starr : ua-cam.com/video/01-2pNCZiNk/v-deo.htmlsi=JCtyLyqTrbP7gARq/
If there's one rock song every person on Earth oughta know, it's Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Guaranteed to blow you away. Start w/ studio version (1972 album "Pronounced") then graduate to a live video.
If you have never checked out The Alan Parsons Project, I strongly suggest this group. My favorites from them are "Eye In The Sky", "Don't Answer Me" and "Time", but honestly, they don't have a bad song. The concert Live from Columbia is magical..
Several movies use this song as a background to set the time frame of the movie to the last 60's and early 70's, the late 60's being the end of the Vietnam war. Creedence Clearwater Revival recorded the song in 1970, but the song was written for Motown records in 1966 by "The Miracles" and first released as a single for Glady's Knight @ the Pips in 1967. It became the #1 R&B hit and number two in the Top Hot 100. The song was recorded by several artists after that including Marvin Gaye in 1958 and became his #1 Single in the U.S. that year.. Back in this time the idea of copyright was still being fleshed out and it was common for artist to sing a catchy song no matter who the original artist was.
CCR are amazing - can't believe it took me as long as it did to find them and really get to fully appreciate them. If you really want to continue way out of your comfort zone but want to hear musicianship at its absolute finest in a live performance with no gizmos or gimmicks and just pure unadulterated talent, then I'd love you to react to Deep Purple - Child In Time Live 1970. I promise it'll blow you away and leave you speechless.
This cover (Gladys Knight/Marvin Gaye) from 1970 was used in a number of films. John has an enormous catalog and is still performing. What an incredible musician.
This is the best version of this song! CCR is a deep rabbit hole. Try “ I Put a Spell on You” and “Proud Mary”( John Fogerty wrote it) and “ Looking Out my Back Door “. Also, Kansas “ Carry On My Wayward Son”.
Band Music 101: When a musician is playing their instrument by themselves, i.e. the rest of the band, drummer included (unless they're the ones playing), it's a "Solo." You won't see or hear another singer/ guitar player like Jeff Healey. As the years go passing by is my favorite blind man blues. Thanks for the great reactions.
My class performed this in 2nd grade. We were all dressed in garbage bags dancing as raisins. We did Cats and the Cradle and Leader of the Pack (poodle skirts and bigwheels) in the same show. Awesome memories. 😂
Every Vietnam movie ever plays “Run through the Jungle”….my dad loves that song
Welcome to the Early 1970s.
We had the BEST music EVER...
Don't forget about the sixties.
Yeah, but you also had disco...
John Fogarty is a legend, as is CCR! So many hits!
👍🎵❤️👍
They released 6 albums between '68 and' 70 and were crushing it. The number of hits in such a short time was and is amazing.
The album version of this runs just over 11 minutes and there's a great jam at the end.

@@dawnmcdonald6387 Hah! I guess I did. I get it, Grapevine, and jam. Even funnier when it's an accident.

Good list. Also the long version of this one is guitar gold!
Long as I Can See the Light
You did hear Creedence Clearwater Revival in Forest Gump but it was "Fortunate Son"
Also heard CCR in a few Adam Sandler movies
Great song too!
This song was in the Big Chill. Great movie.
“Running Through The Jungle” and “Looking Out My Backdoor” in The Big Lebowski.
This song is actually a cover song. The song was originally sung by Gladys Knight& the Pips. The most famous cover of this song was by Marvin Gaye.
I've heard them all, & this is the best version to me, tho❣️❣️ Love Gladys & pips, & Marvin, but....cmon❤❤❤

Fortunate Son

Have you Ever Seen the Rain?
Long as I Can see the Light
Who'll Stop The Rain?
Suzy Q
Bad Moon Rising

With the inclusion of "Who'll Stop the Rain" one has to wonder if Fogerty had a weird obsession with precipitation.
YES! ALL OF THEM!!! ❤

I just picture dancing raisins 😂
Yes that's right. Dancing raisins. I forgot about that commercial 😂😂
Ha ha ha ! The California raisins ! The one with the saxophone !

Probably one of the best uses of a song in a commercial ever.
Careful your showing your age but I see them also lol
Marvin Gaye’s single was impressive, as well as Gladys Knight and the Pips version…circa 1968
The Stones even do a decent cover.
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles recorded it first in 1966. Love the smooth sound of Smokey's voice. He's one of the greats.
@@lauradetjen1573 Love this song with CCR, but the best one is Marvin Gaye's version.

Another good one. Ram Jam “Black Betty”, it will get your motor running. A short song, around 2:25 I believe, but worth listening to.

Great song - 60's-70's songs!
My class performed this in 2nd grade. We were all dressed in garbage bags dancing as raisins. We did Cats and the Cradle and Leader of the Pack (poodle skirts and bigwheels) in the same show. Awesome memories. 😂
Lodi & midnight special are a couple tracks that I really like. But there’s many.
Love the reaction. Check out CCRs Bad Moon Rising or Fortunate Son.
