I never understood the ‘cold and stoic’ rhetoric about Nadia. She showcases plenty of joy and levity during after her performance. Sure, she definitely concentrated and wasn’t always smiling, but she wasn’t a robot
I just watched Athlete A last night where it was showed how the coaches trained them. It's horrible! It's based on fear and intense pressure with slapping and neck grabbing. Aside from that, they're under a communist regime at the time. I can totally understand why the athletes from the communist bloc didn't smile that much.

There's a certain "float", to my eyes, that Nadia has to her jumps that is remarkable. Saw this in Michael Jordan in ~1989 and in NatGeo shows on snow leopards. Baryshnikov too. There's something uncanny about the movement tho That's the difference for me with Nadia and other favourite gymnasts. Cheers
Perfect. Love the artistry. Love the precision. Joy to watch. Remember, the floor mats back then had no extra spring in them like today's do. I dedicated my grade 8 speech to this athlete. Nadia and Terry Fox were my childhood heroes. I just don't find the gymnasts of today compare to Nadia's standard of execution.

No one will ever hold a candle to Nadia no matter how many medals they win. I wish it was still more about the artistry than the tumbling. I enjoy watching it but miss the artistry today's gymnastics seems to have lost.

Tokyo 2020 no logró en piso la magia de Nadia Comanecci. Todas muy acrobaticas y aunque Brasil e Italia llevaron propuestas diferentes, ésa delicadeza y armonía coreografica de Comanecci es aún insuperable
Es una gimnasta completa, graciosa, elegante, combina a la perfeccion la parte artistica y la parte ritmica de la gimnasia. Es como si volara, como si no tocara el suelo. Es magnifica!

I wish the girls today put half the effort into the choreography! Yes, the runs are mindblowingly difficult, but I feel like the rest of the routines are lifeless, do h the music being completely negligible (The Brazilian girl being the only exception). This routine was charm personified, every nuance of the music hit in her choreography. Pure Delight!😃

Beautiful display of elegance and grace. Gymnastics has changed a lot, as has many other sports. I suppose it is the changing of the times. Other athletes come along and display their interpretation of their style. Even though I do love the Gymnastics of yesterday, I certainly appreciate, Gymnastics of today. If she has an ADHD exemption it very likely means she's on methedrine. Period. Not Ritalin, not adderrall. No, what we're looking at here is Desoxyn ie Methyl Benzadrine ie pharmaceutical grade METHAMPHETAMINE. I say this because that would be THE adhd med which would actually provide distinct advantages 10x more than Dextroamphetamine salts (Adderrall). I KNEW it when I watched her hardly-tolerable highlight clips. I'm not a gymnastics fan... but I admire excellence when I see it. Nadia is excellent and she's a joy to watch. But these other modern gymnasts: from the little I've seen of them, some of you need to take a long hard look at what it means to be a human being and develop your sense for the aesthetically beautiful again. This reminds me of these bozos in the major pro sports now. Used to follow them all avidly, but no longer: these guys in the NBA and NFL are not natural AT ALL and anyone who thinks otherwise is entirely ignorant. No debate. When you know what you're looking for, you can spot it from a mile away. It turns the sport UGLY (I don't mean because it taints records)... I mean it's literally ugly to watch because it makes humans move like animals. I'll watch my videos on the graceful snow leopard (someone like early 90s Michael Jordan or Nadia)... you can watch yours on the silver back gorilla all you want. Have it. I knew it. The second I saw that girl perform. No, this isn't 1,000x better. Better implies it's in the same category. What this video shows you is literally, categorically different than that nonsense called female Olympic gymnastics they push and pedal now. Blech. Sorry for the rant but... ask yourself: what the hell do I even REALLY like about athletics? Take a long hard look. This disease has ruined football and basketball, and greatly damaged baseball and hockey... but of all the sports it makes me sad to see plagued by it (PED usage) it's female gymnastics: its a sport that's supposed to embody grace and fluidity. Go watch Nadia fly arms extended out off the uneven bars 1976, and then float gracefully t9 the ground and land like a feather (it can make grown man get teary eyed, let me tell you). And then go rewatch "power" ... and ask yourself which footage do you send to some distant civilization with a note attached: "gymnastics: this is what it looks like to be a human female gymnast." You'd send Nadia and you damn well know it, deep down. Nadia didn't dope. There's the difference. Take a look at these guys and gals today. They are on it. And it's NOT beautiful to watch, no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise. /rant (sorry but this is a subject that clearly 😊 infuriates me)

No, this isn't 1,000x better. Better implies it's in the same category. What this video shows you is literally, categorically different than that nonsense called female Olympic gymnastics they push and pedal now. Blech. Sorry for the rant but... ask yourself: what the hell do I even REALLY like about athletics? Take a long hard look. This disease has ruined football and basketball, and greatly damaged baseball and hockey... but of all the sports it makes me sad to see plagued by it (PED usage) it's female gymnastics: its a sport that's supposed to embody grace and fluidity.
Go watch Nadia fly arms extended out off the uneven bars 1976, and then float gracefully t9 the ground and land like a feather (it can make grown man get teary eyed, let me tell you). And then go rewatch "power" ... and ask yourself which footage do you send to some distant civilization with a note attached: "gymnastics: this is what it looks like to be a human female gymnast." You'd send Nadia and you damn well know it, deep down.
Nadia didn't dope. There's the difference.
Take a look at these guys and gals today. They are on it. And it's NOT beautiful to watch, no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise.
