um okay its basically about a guy who gets a girl, goes crazy about her and loses her. the thing about it is that he loved her so much that he had this mindset that shes a better person then she really is. this is what hurts him so bad, he thinks he lost "the one" for him when really she was just some bitch but his obsession over her blinded him into thinking otherwise. so the whole time hes trying to remind himself that she wasn't who he brought her to be. and through that realization he will finally get over her. until then the pain is going to build up.
Corey Taylor wrote the songs from the viewpoint of a stalker. "The differences (between the two tracks) are subtle - 'Vermilion Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor.[12] "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it".
Yup right on. I think it is something we all have gone through ( minus the stalking part). But one could also be interpreted as anyone who loves someone more than they love them back.. not necessarily a stalker
You two do a hell of a job breaking down songs. For most metalheads, (I can't speak for all of them, but definitely most of us), watching people take in this genre of music with an open mind is all we ever ask for. Once you start, it's so hard to stop. You just can't listen to a radio and find lyrics so deep. Once people get passed thinking the music is noise, there is no going back to other forms of music. Hearing the next metal song almost becomes an addiction. Great work with this channel.
Part one is a manic obsession over his loss of her. Part two is the self actualization and remorse that she's not the angel he portrays her in his mind. In part one he won't let the pain of the loss build up inside of him. In part two he won't let his remorse of his realization build up inside of him.
i really like how Sori is more emotional, while Vin is more rational during these reviews...it gives a great balance and rather unique end result. Keep up the great work!! Still waiting for a Deftones review...just kidding, i know its coming ;-)
Come for the song stay for the couples theory! Love your openness, it's really nice seeing a natural, real relationship being projected online, super refreshing! Keep it up :)
It's about unrequited love and realizing you have been putting someone on a pedestal in your mind and they will never be real because you've created someone else in your head. The violence in it is imagery, putting emotion into something visual. This song, for me personally, is something ii sing to myself. To the person ii show the world to cover up my depression. She isn't real...and ii won't let this build up inside of me..the unattainable...
Nice reaction, I could tell she liked it. It's definitely one of Slipknot's more underrated tracks and one of the best imo. You should react to "Left Behind" or "Dead Memories" next (or at some point).
I love how you guys analyze every part of a song relatively unbiasedly. It makes an interesting watch to see peoples reactions and thoughts on a peice of art weather visual or whatever. Its always cool to see how its always open to interpretations regardless of the creators intentions
This song could be interpreted in so many ways. It's like you have a deep love for someone. But you just don't want to feel it. You resist the emotions of falling in love. You just don't want it. And the girl loves him, but can't connect to them. And you're a person that just doesn't want to feel hurt again. So the perfect girl does not exist. Even when you think you met the perfect girl. Who treats you so well, but you refuse to believe it. That's what I get from it. She's always in your thoughts, but you just don't want to think of her, not taking it to the point of killing or possession. It's just about the emotions of love and how far it can take a person. Love is a scary thing.
This song reminds me of Fernando Pessoa, a Portuguease Poet. He says that we just love the idealization of someone, using the face of someone we already knows. And when we find out who that person really is, the reality hurts. When we find out that the person who we supposedly loved is not the way we thought she were, the "reality" we've created just crash. And it hurts, for him, to live knowing that the person he loved "died" and "another one" lives inside her now. She is not real. And he can not make she becomes the one he loved. He cant make her real. At least, that's how I understand this song.
On a side note i completely agree on not watching the video while trying to listen, because its very easy to miss something that is said while trying to understand, at times, what your seeing. I very much like the idea of simply listening and gathering what its meant to be that way.
Comments from Corey Taylor about this song was the second part was written in a "aftermath" sort of way. The first was anticipation prior to. So the first lines are to denote the fact that "he" is looking at the aftermath of what he did... to "her." "Dressed in all of me, Stretched accross my shame" as in she's covered in what he has inflicted upon her and he's reflecting on his actions. "All the torment and the pain" covering him like guilt or loss not physical injury necessarily.
At times you take things literal, rather then metaphoricly... Art is abstract at times and the mindset of an artist is creative. She's dressed all in me, along with so many lyrics, could be taken in multiple views based on the person... It's all about perspective, Thats what I love about music.
e differences (between the two tracks) are subtle - 'Vermilion, Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor. "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it." Both songs are said to be about lost or unrequited love from a possibly suicidal person's perspective.
the way i interpreted it was Vermilion 1 was before a murder and the rage and panic and adrenaline that goes through someone's head before they do something like that. i thought Vermilion 2 was about after the fact when the person recovers and realises what they have done.
It is how a simple real man feels during a time of sentimental confusion. The sentiment of abandoning (not really wanting it) and fight against that same feeling, simply trying to break free of that attachment.
It's a contrast to the first song. Crazy obsession where its all about the self. Then beautiful sorrow where its all a out her.either way she may or may not exist to him since he has his own vision of her.
About progression of the song musical and lyrics -wise... And why I personally love both of the Vermillion series (not a popular opinion) is that I think they are basically one song, just divided into two pieces instead of making one 10 minute song. You kind of said it yourself - in the first part he was going mad, while in the second part he was chill, dealing with guilt and sorrow. They have some of the same lyrics and the melodies, but the output has changed completely and thus the mood (and even the message) of the song as well. So, what I love in these two is actually the progression. Even inside the song; In both of them you can see subtle changes. What I'm getting at is that by biding their time with the progression they are also making them feel more personal for me. Building up the atmosphere and creating this eerie feeling of being inside of his head, in the story. And I love how the feeling kind of slips through and I can relate to it through my own life experience and memories. I love progressive metal in general and songs like that from artists that don't usually fall into that category. But from my point of view the progression is *massively* there, it's just slower. Sort of like when you ask someone what music one considers "heavy". For me, it has nothing to do with drop b tuned djent guitars and blastbeats, but instead the atmosphere of the song. And this right here, for me, is heavy AF.
Thank you for the response! I very much like your reaction videos and the analysis you both do! You have a great chemistry going on there, keep it going! I'd actually like to see your reactions to some of the music videos too. I know copyright strikes are a b#ch, but could you do it by e.g. not actually showing the vid...? Well, not all songs have meaningful videos, but some are awesome. ...And hey, while you're at it, how about some live gig reactions as well? ;) Especially Slipknot ones are crazy good. Cheers and have a great day!
If you get to know about Corey's life story, you kinda get his obsession! He grew up being cast aside and put down and actually didn't knew his father until he was already a famous Metal celeb! My take on it is that his perspective about the world, as he grew up, was shrouded with doubt about his self-worth anything and unanswered question like "am I lovable? or am I just innately undeserving of love?". When you grow with that kind of lenses to translate what you see and experience, and as you relive similiar situations (i.e. breaking up or feeling left behind) these questions tend to come about again and the fear of experiencing everything you struggled (or still struggle in the case of Corey) while growing up just becomes way much too real again. And as so, it's harder for you to cope with it. I like you just took 1 step foward and 2 backwards. I think for some reason this relationship just ended up becoming full of conflict, and probably wasn't bringing about the best in both Corey and Scarlett. An I think it ended up like the myth of eternal recurrence concept in psychology, where you try to resolve your past relationships (his abusive, anger filled, unloving childhood) by doing so in the present ones. The problem is the ambivalence of all of it! It's like a love-hate relationship! On one hand he is thrilled by the conflict and the making amends (coming home) while having these possessive feelings (that he doesn't want to allow to build up inside him) because she comes and goes and comes and goes, and on the other hand he just wants to look at her without anger and without resenting the fact that she makes him sad because, at that point in the relationship, she wasn't hard soil, but more like quicksand. It's a mix of what kind of person Corey what to be like and how in reality he can't be that person because this relationship is bringing this worse side of him. In the end, I think both vermillions represent that duality, the 2 façades of what Corey feels about and/or wanted from his ex-wife.
I've been waiting all day till I got home to watch this reaction! Another track you two may appreciate is Slipknot - The Nameless. It is essentially part 2 of their other track, Purity. So maybe it could be like a double song, like this one? Anyways, I love the chemistry you two have and the way you dive into the lyrics and analyze them. Keep them coming!
From the first video I saw of you guys reacting "sic" till now, you two have grown a lot in how you make these videos, with the commentary and the camera too..just looks more crisp, more professional, and the way you two dissect the songs--Good job! I am looking forward to it! dont forget The Nameless!
Reminds me of an older Slipknot song.. not giving away the title 😁 but lyrics go, a black widow had offered me a sweet heart tube.. as I injected, the candid heart that I selected, she said don't hesitate just do what you have to do to me.. Now that was about a drug, which this song and pt 1 both are not necessarily only directed towards a woman, but something else albeit it materialistic, addiction, love hate etc. Dark poetry with 2 different emotions of the perspective. Good channel guys! Enjoyed it
Great video guys. I'm glad you didn't wait too long to do part 2 so that you could have the first one fresh on your minds. This is a tough song to really definitively decode from the lyrics. And I think that's on purpose. One thing to remember is that Corey Taylor writes from a twisted and disturbed perspective (Check out "the virus of life", same album I believe) So not everything is going to be or sound rational. Part two really focuses on her "not being real" and brings this to the listeners attention in different ways during the song. So Corey seems to be taking on the perspective of a person on a psychotic breakdown over the love of his life not being real (a delusion) and coming to terms of this fact. When you listen to Slipknot you have to keep in mind that he is writes songs from the perspective of Leatherface or Jason Voorhees himself, basically mentally, disturbed or horrific tones in a mainstream digestible way.
As was said earlier, he was falling farther in to alcoholism, and getting darker during the recording of the subliminal verses. And he's known for writing about murderous fantasies. It could have been a way to try to hold on to his own sanity by writing these songs
The first song is about a man with schizophrenia who sees this girl and falls in love with her but then he realizes she isnt real and the "i wont let this build up inside of me" is the hatered of the mental illness and the sadness of her not being real, part 2 is him coming to terms with the illness inside him and accepting/morning that she isnt a real human being.
I love your channel sound quality by it away there are some other reaction channels that just I've not been able to come with better production value yet I still give them here because I love the reactions to songs that I have been jamming forever
Prosthetics is the song you're thinking of from their first album. Really creepy both musically and lyrically. It's said to be based off the movie and book called 'The Collector,' it's about an obsessed man kidnapping a woman.
Well, I'm female and I always thought he killed her, but I might have been influenced by the music video. In any case, regardless of the lyrics, the music in this song is beautiful and Corey's vocals are amazing.
Prosthetics was written about and inspired by the 1960s movie "the butterfly collector". A guy stalks an art student, kidnaps her with chloroform, keeps her in his basement until eventually he kills her accidentally. He also likes catching butterflies lol.
12:30 the song was Iowa off of the Iowa album and it's a song about mutilating, controlling, playing with, and preserving a corpse. Corey sang the song in two takes. He stripped naked in the booth, broke glass and cut himself, and he made himself vomit too during the two takes for the recording.
I love both of your interpretations! My personal take is that he was figuratively killing the idea of a woman he was in a toxic relationship with. I think a lot of his shame was based on the changes in his personality as a result of his obsession with her. I was in a similar relationship with an older woman during my early 20s. (I'm 46 now). She turned my world upside down and tore my heart out. After 2 years of constant lying and infidelity I finally found the strength to walk away. During my time with her, I alienated my family and friends. I got over her by laying my idea of her to rest. I can tell you now, that there's nothing more painful ( and beautiful) as finding yourself again, after years of looking at a stranger in the mirror. Being in love with someone who never existed is a son-of-b!@#h! Vemillion is toxic, and so was she.
I think youre very correct Vin. You see, in the first music video (even though you didnt show them, and its being solely based off lyrics here), it follows a woman. The art in it is amazing, you should show her it on your off time. But it follows her, then cuts to the band, and back, and in the video she finds them. And they remove their masks for a mask that is their face... But wax haha. Anyways, off topic. Well in the second video, part 2, its just her lifeless body floating in the air. So very possible that he killed her. The reason he is calmer in this one, i feel is that he completed his task. He got her, now hes done. But see the tone of this one is sadder. So even though hes done, hes sad, hes lost her completely. At his own hands possibly. And now hes covered in shame at what hes done. But i feel like when he says he wont let it build up, is that he wont let the anger and sadness build up. But your opinion is very possible. And i think i know which song youre gonna show next ;).
Thank you so much for this reaction, love the videos. If the trilogy thing you’re talking about is a live show of Vermillion you should do download 2009 by far the best show. Also the song you’re talking about might be “The Nameless” from vol. 3.
VinAnd Sori Cant sleep lol. But I watch a lot of reaction videos on up coming bands like JinJer or Oceans Of Slumber for example as a supporter. And as a drummer, I dont always hone in on the lyrical content, despite my interest as a song writer. Odd right? So I like seeing how different the interpretations or perspectives are on the same song from channel to channel. But you two definitely give it more dialog and I think it is attributed to a mature factor. Some of the younger reactors really dont offer any intellectual original thought or input, they just watch the suggestions for the likes and JinJer for example a HUGE shock and awe reaction video, but I think no one values the music as it is or discussed it. Out of the 10+ videos ive seen, you guys actually went into the concept of what a Pisces is. You guys generously spend a good amount of time discussing the content. Most channels videos are 4-10 min, you double it. I also think channels like these become important for underground artists. I heard about JinJer and Oceans Of Slumber from Galactic Criminal and Lost In Vegas. So subbing and being able to reach out and have your work shared is not only great exposure, but it opens up dialog about the music which is valuable feedback most artists never get and thats cool. I get wordy.
Heres 2 ways it can be interpreted especially if you look at song title... Vermilion = scarlet red.... So either exactly what he interpreted as or it could be about a affair that goes bad ( scarlet red = adultery )
The videos are great, but I did realize that these videos have me focusing more on the lyrical content. It's not that the videos are crazy or anything. They are just really hypnotic, I think.
The way I interpret this song is a man who infatuated with a woman who has no idea he has feelings for her, and he doesn’t know how to communicate his feelings: “catch in my throat, choke” and because of that it eats him up inside; “torn into pieces”. And he has an idea of a perfect relationship with her in his head, but this idea of perfection is just a fantasy and a dream he hopes for, hence: “she’s a myth that I have to believe in” and “she isn’t real, I can’t make her real”. I understand that Corey has his own meaning for writing this song, but my interpretation is the meaning of it for me.
Sori's version of the song is actually more accurate than the whole "serial killer give me more" type of version than Vin has. In all respect, there was some gasping of straws in Vin's version. It's about accepting the fact that he will never be able to "attain" the ideal woman he's made in his mind about her. All of his thoughts becoming a personification of the type of woman he wants her to be. In short, unrequited love.
Put simply, I always interpreted 'Vermillion' as being about falling in love with a narcissist. I always perceived the lines "she isn't real, I can't make her real" as being about the protagonist struggling with the realisation that the false self or 'mask' that the narcissist wore during the initial stages of the relationship was never truly genuine, and that the person who he believed he initially fell in love with, never truly existed at all. Instead, she was just putting on a front to convince him that she is his ideal woman in order to make him easier to manipulate. That's just my thoughts though...
These are both amazing songs, Idk why but i have always interpreted it as a stalker (which ik Corey Taylor has said it is) but i interpreted it as a stalker who cant have someone so he stalks and prepares to kill her and fighting with himself on what to do about how he feels thus him saying "i won't let this build up inside of me"
The way you two analyze lyrics is great. Devin has a song called 'Funeral' which he wrote about having to speak at the funeral of a teenage friend who was murdered. The Royal Albert Hall version is best.
slipknot "The virus of Life" insane and incredible. It actually goes to how Vin analyzed this song. same album and same girl. Seriously, listen to it and it should help you understand whats really going on
The beauty of music...the interpretation by the listener. This is why art in general is very subjective. I love that both of you hear something different yet you can have a very intelligent conversation and listen to each others views. I find both versions interesting and I interpret the lyrics closely to Vin's views. After thinking about all this, do you think that people's interpretations can be affected by past experiences or even through fantasies? Not sure if I am asking that correctly but I could see how this song could be romanticized in a weird way.
The sly comeback with a 7.5 at the end was hilarious 😂 job well done guys lol. I personally give it a 9 for creativity, melodramatic harmony, acoustic skill, and delivery. I get the 5 score bc it left so much room for more, but I think that was the point in the song which is why this was more like a cutoff. I'm done. Excitement is gone. No headbanging, no adrenaline rush. It's just over. That's my opinion and who am i haha
The song that you're tried to remember when you say "you will be mine" is prosthetics, i think it was the song number eleven in the album "slipknot" (sorry for poor english)
I believe this is about his horrible divorce. If I'm correct, I do believe he drove himself a little mad in his grief. These two songs take you on a journey through that grief. He created an imaginary friend, or wife, and had to convince himself that she wasn't real. That might explain his cross-dressing in Snuff.
um okay its basically about a guy who gets a girl, goes crazy about her and loses her. the thing about it is that he loved her so much that he had this mindset that shes a better person then she really is. this is what hurts him so bad, he thinks he lost "the one" for him when really she was just some bitch but his obsession over her blinded him into thinking otherwise. so the whole time hes trying to remind himself that she wasn't who he brought her to be. and through that realization he will finally get over her. until then the pain is going to build up.
Same that I was thinking. 1st is anger and bargaining, and this one is more working toward acceptance.
TheBrothersGrim666 sounds right to me.
Vermillion and part 2 is about a stalker.
I went through exactly what this song talks about
I can relate to that
This is why I believe that music is the greatest form of art. It's open to the listeners interpretation. You feel it, make it your own.
Agreed
Corey Taylor wrote the songs from the viewpoint of a stalker. "The differences (between the two tracks) are subtle - 'Vermilion Pt. 1' is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation and the neurosis," says Taylor.[12] "'Part 2' is the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it".
Dereck Ward Nope, totally different meaning.
Taylor has said Killpop is about the music industry controlling artists.
Dereck Ward Yeah it’s can have an open interpretation, but they’ve literally said ta about the music industry.
well you're wrong
Yup right on. I think it is something we all have gone through ( minus the stalking part). But one could also be interpreted as anyone who loves someone more than they love them back.. not necessarily a stalker
You two do a hell of a job breaking down songs. Soon !
Killpop - Slipknot would be awesome.
"Prosthetics" is the song off the '99 album "You laughed, our fingers clenched. I couldn't help myself, I just took you!"
Come for the song stay for the couples theory! Love your openness, it's really nice seeing a natural, real relationship being projected online, super refreshing! Keep it up :)

Yes your right! I totally did! Def added it to my list! -Sori🤟🏻
I agree. Left behind and dead memories are too underrated.
I would love a reaction video of the circle.
Loving your in-depth discussions about each song. You two interact so well together. And Sori, you are a stunningly beautiful woman.
Yes she is ! Thank you for your kind words !!
VinAnd Sori Alright Vin. You're a handsome gentleman too. Keep the great content coming!
Thanks man !
Purity-slipknot. Its about a girl buried alive by his ex, corey read about it and wrote the song
Interesting song...
Oh really? Damn I feel like such a fake maggot :/ I didn't know that
One of my all time favorite Slipknot songs
Gabriel olano wait so is the girl a guy or... something’s not adding up
@THE IIID EMPIRE yup
I love how you guys analyze every part of a song relatively unbiasedly. It makes an interesting watch to see peoples reactions and thoughts on a peice of art weather visual or whatever. Its always cool to see how its always open to interpretations regardless of the creators intentions
I relate to the Vermillion "series" so much, I love it... I'm obsessed with it!
Thank you guys for this! Can’t wait to hear your interpretation
Whenever listening to these two Slipknot songs Vermillion part 1 and 2 I always listen to to first and then one second get better Goosebumps that way

Just throwing this out there- Killpop is about the music industry and how septic it has become.
Talk talk by a perfect circle. Great videos guys.
Listed!

always love how this channel gives me the full lyrics breakdown
Another slow tempo slipknot song that’s nice is “Circle” off their Vol. 3 album. It’s a pretty chill track.
Cool never heard that before
Circle is such an underrated song! beautiful song!
Edgar Flores and Danger - Keep Away
the way i interpreted it was Vermilion 1 was before a murder and the rage and panic and adrenaline that goes through someone's head before they do something like that. i thought Vermilion 2 was about after the fact when the person recovers and realises what they have done.
I prefer vermillion 2 and it is so much more powerful and tragically beautiful with the video. Just my opinion.
Strapping young lad - Love please, amazing groove and vocals for an incredibly heavy song
Me *is a female *: OMG this is my favourite slipknot song!!
Him: it's extremely curious to me how many females like this song...
Me:... oh well...

Awesome! On the list !

Corey's vocal performance on this track always impresses me
This is my favorite Vermillion
Lol... There is no spoon!!! I use that all time! Love it
I've been waiting all day till I got home to watch this reaction! Another track you two may appreciate is Slipknot - The Nameless. It is essentially part 2 of their other track, Purity. So maybe it could be like a double song, like this one? Anyways, I love the chemistry you two have and the way you dive into the lyrics and analyze them. Keep them coming!
Uploaded one today... the underground track is coming
From the first video I saw of you guys reacting "sic" till now, you two have grown a lot in how you make these videos, with the commentary and the camera too..just looks more crisp, more professional, and the way you two dissect the songs--Good job! I am looking forward to it! dont forget The Nameless!
Won’t forget !
Pantera-Hollow
Never heard that one before !
VinAnd Sori. Even if it's not a reaction you must listen to it.
We must!! Agreed
Hollow is an awesome song! Please review
Enjoyed it
I love vins face when he gets the groove of a song haha
Vin was actually pretty much spot on with this one.
This song makes me cry everytime I hear it reasons that I'm not going to get into still always be one of my favorites though
Wow! That’s crazy to think about it tht way...cause I want to rationalize what he is saying...but ya that may not be the point. -Sori✌🏻
As was said earlier, he was falling farther in to alcoholism, and getting darker during the recording of the subliminal verses. And he's known for writing about murderous fantasies. It could have been a way to try to hold on to his own sanity by writing these songs
I see a man grasping at sanity. And the sanity being this woman he is chasing.
I’m convinced that was a MAJOR factor !
Vermillion Part 2 for me is a much better song than part 1
Sori likes it much better !
Whoa really? -Sori✌🏻
Yeuup that’s the song !
Well, I'm female and I always thought he killed her, but I might have been influenced by the music video. In any case, regardless of the lyrics, the music in this song is beautiful and Corey's vocals are amazing.
03:28 Sori's reaction to Vin on part ( I don't know what to do,,,,when she makes me sad ))
Whoa !
Whoa! I think that’s it !!
Hmmmmmm....... PURE speculation😉
Thank you so much for this reaction, love the videos. If the trilogy thing you’re talking about is a live show of Vermillion you should do download 2009 by far the best show. Also the song you’re talking about might be “The Nameless” from vol. 3.
Oceans Of Slumber - “Winter”
Its a masterpiece. Im binging on your channel right now. Sorry for all the comments lol
Aww that’s cool by us!! We LOVE binge watchers! -Sori✌🏻
...but what about our channel makes u want to binge?
Good point !
The videos are great, but I did realize that these videos have me focusing more on the lyrical content. It's not that the videos are crazy or anything. They are just really hypnotic, I think.
🤘slipknot 😎👍I wish I truly knew what he meant in this song
Here are some suggestions guys, Lamb of God- Ghost Walking, Avatar- The Eagle Has Landed, or Trivium- Down from The Sky
Gotcha! -Sori✌🏻
Vin the lyrics, "You will be mine! A fucking you will be mine!" is from the song "Prosthetics"
Yep that’s the one I was referring to
Yeah, Sori, seemed to kind of like that line for some reason lol. Gonna check out, your reaction to "The Hollow" next
Oh and btw i love this song this slow version💜❣i am deffinatly a fan of corey's voice i love it❣💜
The way I interpret this song is a man who infatuated with a woman who has no idea he has feelings for her, and he doesn’t know how to communicate his feelings: “catch in my throat, choke” and because of that it eats him up inside; “torn into pieces”. And he has an idea of a perfect relationship with her in his head, but this idea of perfection is just a fantasy and a dream he hopes for, hence: “she’s a myth that I have to believe in” and “she isn’t real, I can’t make her real”. I understand that Corey has his own meaning for writing this song, but my interpretation is the meaning of it for me.
oh thats an interesting interpretation -Sori
I won't see you tonight (Avenged) has an specific part that shows up in both parts as well , in different contexts
One for Sori !
Coming straight from Corey Taylors mouth is that Vermillion is about stalking and killing a woman.
Vermillion part 3 is a song called Scream by Slipknot, it's way different
Put simply, I always interpreted 'Vermillion' as being about falling in love with a narcissist. I always perceived the lines "she isn't real, I can't make her real" as being about the protagonist struggling with the realisation that the false self or 'mask' that the narcissist wore during the initial stages of the relationship was never truly genuine, and that the person who he believed he initially fell in love with, never truly existed at all. Instead, she was just putting on a front to convince him that she is his ideal woman in order to make him easier to manipulate. That's just my thoughts though...
It's simply love, or ex love from afar, and everything is mind and emotion
Vin, bro, you have the unattainable next to you. Absolutely radiant ma'am.
Vin for the win
Slipknot - Duality or The Blister Exists. Great as always guys, thanks!
These are both amazing songs, Idk why but i have always interpreted it as a stalker (which ik Corey Taylor has said it is) but i interpreted it as a stalker who cant have someone so he stalks and prepares to kill her and fighting with himself on what to do about how he feels thus him saying "i won't let this build up inside of me"
Iron Maiden number of the beast. I can tell what it’s not about!
Thanks for doing this song
she nailed it
The way you two analyze lyrics is great. Devin has a song called 'Funeral' which he wrote about having to speak at the funeral of a teenage friend who was murdered. The Royal Albert Hall version is best.
On the list!
Oh damn that song... Its tragically beautiful.
The song you're talking about is Prosthetics, from their first album. You should react to it!
slipknot "The virus of Life" insane and incredible. It actually goes to how Vin analyzed this song. same album and same girl. Seriously, listen to it and it should help you understand whats really going on
Didn't see the answer but it is the song Prosthetics with the line... "you will be mine...F**cking you will be mine"
I love your reactions!
I believe the "catch in my throat" is referring to a lump in his throat.
I absolutely think that for sure. I’m almost full on postmodern with this stuff and might say it’s impossible not to
Forgotten - Father. Amateur turkish grup. Great song
Crebain - Cries of My Motherland
Got it! -Sori✌🏻
Sori is being traumatized in this one, good job Vin!. (i know is old but idc) ~
Baroness - Chlorine & Wine
Was his wife’s name scarlet ?
VinAnd Sori It was indeed. Another great song that may be about this situation is 'Hesitate' by Stone Sour. Again, it's pretty sad.
The song you were asking about at 12:27 is Prosthetics.
Out of the same record I suggest you guys to listen to The Virus Of Life, pretty twisted song with complex lyrics. It can be a good one to analyze.
You should do the follow up track since you wanted a Vermillion Part 3 , its call THE NAMELESS and its a kick ass track.
Pls react to avenged sevendold I wont see you tonight part 1/2😄
Listed!
Yes!!
and you can see she isn't really hearing him, or paying attention to anything, she's in love with the song, right about two seconds in :)
I took it as the whole thing being about a haunting or possession... for the same reasoning, "she isn't real"
I see both parts as a story about addiction y'all, she being representative of drugs/alcohol that previously had fueled slipknot in the past.
