Hi everyone, While I referenced the NUX 20 and 40 video going up before this, the order was changed and that video will be up soon so stay tuned. These are great practice amps and the 60 has been my practice tool recently. 0.5 watts is perfect for home practice. Yes i thought you played your backing tracks through your monitors but you said originally you mic'd the Nux amp and the mic'd sound came through a amp and not studio monitors?Did you have another amp to hear the Mic'd tones from the Nux amp?
I love NUX's products. I have the Mighty 20 MK1, Mighty plug 2, and just got the MG-101. My big amp loud playing days are over, but I love the processing capability that the MK2 has.
I use a NUX MG-30 for my EQ and modulation/reverbs/delay effects on my pedalboard, and it's fantastic. Every Katana competitor so far has had a fatal flaw that keeps it from being truly great; this might have a chance to play on Boss's level. Great tones!
Do you use analog drive pedals with your MG-30 , and if so do they sound good with the amps and effects in the MG-30? If it handles pedals I'm going to get one.
@@justice100forwin2 Yes, I’m currently running an EHX tubes for my low-medium gain into a Westminster Effects 2716 (Mesa Dual Rec-in-a-box) for my high gain into the NUX. You have to do some tweaking with a parametric EQ (which I place at the very front of the chain) coming out of the MG30 because it bizarrely adds a lot of top end, but once I do this I just apply it to any patches I’ve made. Sounds great at any volume, although the MG30 has a lot of input gain so I simply mark where unity volume is so I don’t just absolutely slam the preamp tubes of my Traynor tube amp. It’s got a great tuner built in, the looper is great for practice, and the effects sound great. Once I got it tweaked right, I just pretty much set it and forget it. Works well as a DI for acoustic too!
The preset genre continues to evolve and NUIX have done a good job with this. Youre getting some great tones out of it... but a lot of that is from the musicality in your hands. The built-in looper is impressive. My own trajectory sees me moving away from preset heaven into pedal board creativity... which is a different kind of rabbit hole, I guess. Grace Slick's advice remains pertinent - whatever rabbit hole you dive into, keep your head.
Had the mighty 20 for a couple of years thanks to you shaneo and it was a bloody good little amp, fortunately I recently scored a valve king 112 and a champion 100 and I really don't need another amp now, maybe.... 🎉😅 cheers from Geelong shaneo. Go swans tomorrow!!!!
I bought a Nux mighty lite bt and loved the sounds. My issue is the volume. I could not control it, no matter how I went. I used internal settings, amp settings, you name it. I boxed it and got a headrush core. No comparison. Absolutely love that thing. You want the sound then you can make it or find it.
I can’t shake my head hard enough when people complain about advanced technology. God forbid anything change. If this said Fender on the front and had a tube in it somewhere all these get off my lawn whiners would love it. Let them lug those 60 pound amps and all the pedals they need to a sound good. I’ll save both my money and my back and enjoy this amp. Just like I enjoy my iPhone relative to my old rotary phone bolted to the wall.
I would say you have some of the best tone of any guitar and guitar gear review channel...even with the youtube compression you still get a decent sound...kudos to you!!!
Well, just about every other tube and pedal company just threw up their hands and gave up. Sounds epic. I wonder what a different 12-inch speaker does?
Thank you for the amazing review, this amp sounds really nice! A question: does it support somehow using electric-acoustic guitar? I can't see any acoustic amp simulation. Is there a way to use it "flat", without amp simulation?
From YT "review/Advertisement" videos I didn't like the 20 MKII (8") at all, this one does sound good, I haven't used that many amps and I'm a home user but my impression regarding speaker size are, 8" open back don't have that good of a sound, lack bass, 12" too much, So my next amp will be 10", alternative option is a multi effect unit with studio speakers, 6.5" or 8" is the "hot spot"for me, I'm between MG400 and MG30, MG30 better specs but kinda old, don't want to buy it only for them to release new unit after a month, now I'll probably add the Mighty 40 MKII as an option too.
I have the Mighty Space amp and love it. Interested in that speaker, for the 30 watt speaker out in the M. S. especially if it’s 4 0hms. How long is the loop time? And is the FX loop moveable? Of course it is I just it in the block. One more ? How’s the Mono Octave? If it has one. Mine sucks.
Hey, is this amp good for some heavy metal? im currently using using blackstar id core beam i want an upgrade and my main focus would be on some heavy metal like metallica and megadeth.
These guitar gear that rely in the usage of computer software or phone apps to extract all of its potential worry me. Will I be able to use these in full potential 10 years from now? And 20 years from now? It seems silly to worry about such a distant future, but guitars, amps, and pedals are between the few things that are not made to be trashed in a few years. There are guitars, amps, and pedals that are 50 years old and still sound great today. I don't like the way everything is being turned into smartphones. Every guitar gear that is digital, in some way, is made to last way less than the analog devices. In some way, I feel safer buying the old reliable guitar pedals and simpler guitar amps that don't rely on digital technology. Specially if the interface is not 100% contained in the device itself. If you have a POD2.0, the sounds may not sound as perfect as the devices being released today, but, at least, you can still access all of it's sound just clicking on its interface.
NUX have had the same software for their computer for years now. It basically works with all their amps. Their app has a huge list of amps that it can connect to. I agree, though it's always worth thinking about. Once this amp is set up you can ditch the software and recall a bunch of presets you make which is nice.
@@intheblues Hey, Shane. I forgot to write in my comment above that I love your videos and even more great than the content, is that you take the time to answer our comments.
Sounds pretty good, but it seems that using the editing software on another device is crucial to getting the most out of the amp. The NBT-1 is a nice touch, but I haven't been able to find a place to buy a replacement if you want a spare. It looks like you can plug into a PC direct with a cable (?). The footswitches would also be very handy (critical for looping) but they are described in the manual as “looper switch” and “compatible footswitch” - looks like they have to be TRS, but Momentary, Latched, Normally On or Off? There is no recommended one in the manual and I couldn't find a NUX proprietary one. It makes me nervous that this amp was released seemingly in the incomplete design phase. Anyone have any info on which footswitches work?
The software on this is a lot better and the tone is very similar. The Mustang III V2 might be the best fender digital modelling amp ever so if you like those tones, it's hard to beat. This does a better mid-high gain tone and the interface on the top is a lot better not having a screen if you like old school amps.

Wish it had stereo outs or at least balanced XLR output
It has a single TRS output on the back but yeah, an XLR would have been ideal.
