Sequencing Chord Progressions in VCV Rack (Tutorial)

- Here is a brief video going over the general approach I use when sequencing chord progressions in VCV Rack. If you have a different way of doing things let me know! I'm always looking for other ways of doing things to continue my own learning.
If you'd like to download this patch you can here:patchstorage.c...
I have substituted the VST Host modules with the polyphonic FM OP module so that you wouldn't need any paid modules to explore the patch. Here is a link to all the Aaron Static modules I used: library.vcvrac...

Great use of my modules!
I love them! They are top tier modules - I still have so much to explore with them.
@@blotterdreams thanks! and let me know if you have any ideas to improve them :)
@@AaronStatic I'm still using them a ton in my daily explorations - just trying to really master what they can do right now. So far I've not run into anything where I found myself wishing for more - but if I think of anything during my explorations I'll definitely let you know! If there's anywhere we can support your work feel free to post, would love to pass that along in any video where I'm using them.
ngl I have tried using your apps so many times and, being relatively newish to things, frustratingly just couldn't get any of them to make a sound, but this tutorial has me SO excited to try them out again. I'm a classically trained violist (run my viola and other instruments through VCV rack + pedals) and I can't wait to play along with your modules. Thanks for making cool things!
a rare easily digestible vcv rack video, thank you. You fuckin rock!
Thanks so much!
This video has completely changed my approach to vcv rack. I no longer am constrained by the bleep bloops of the machine gods. What a great tutorial and it has legitimately made me so excited to continue learning with vcv!
Thanks for watching, I'm so glad you found some of it helpful! If you make anything with the ideas let me know so I can learn from you as well!
@@blotterdreams I’ve been using it with output arcade and sequences sample sets and occasionally pipe it a chord to have it activated the effects as well. It’s been so much fun.
@@stuartwilson5827 I'm definitely going to try this asap!
That turned out so well! You have your own robot Eric Satie
Wonderful, one of the most beautiful tutorials ever seen, thank you !!!
spitfire is amazing, great tutorial, thank you!
4:36 Make that even faster! Use 1, 2, 3, 4 on your keyboard to swap colours with that module😊 Completely changed my workflow. Awesome video!
lol nice! There's literally always something new to learn here. That'll definitely be something I'll start using immediately. Thanks for the tip!
@@blotterdreams This works with the “Cable Palette” module from Count Modula. Not sure about the one you’re using. Make sure to activate the Lock so it doesn’t randomise it every time :)
@@avationmusic Oh rad, I love the Count Modula stuff, I'll certainly check it out later!
This is such an awesome way to do it, and so very expandable! Thanks!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Excellent solution. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video thank you. Very informative. And I could listen to that all day long...lol.
Thanks! I have a 30 minute video called Island Winter that is basically just a super long version of this!
This was very inspring. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for this! So so beautiful.
I'm glad you like it! I hope it gave you some inspiration from it and make it even MORE beautiful :)
Really good video. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
Great job on this vid. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video, thanks!
So useful. Thanks!
So glad this could be helpful!
Great tutorial.
Thanks for watching!
This is excellent! Very inspiring, thank you. New sub for thee here.
Thanks for taking the time to watch, hopefully it was useful in some way :)
@@blotterdreams Followed you on Spotify and been listening to your albums… Lovely stuff, certainly the kind of music I’d drift away to while on a “blotter dream”!
Thanks so much
very cool
Great!!Thanks
Great video! :)
brill thanks
what is the free alternative
Why the heck have I never thought of this
One thing I might add to this, is adding probability to the trigger coming out of the clock module that triggers the chord, using a chances module or something like that.
Thats how I feel every time I see how someone else do things their way!
A lot of the way look at things still come from my hardware setup. I had a QuBit Chord and a 960 sequencer where I would essentially do this same thing - it was just a product of those limitations.
Yeah that would be rad!
nice
Just getting into VCV Rack. Great video but your mic is low. I subscribed. I asume your using the VST version of VCV rack?
Nope, this is the regular desktop version. I'm using the VCV Host modules to run VST's within VCV! It's a paid module, but worth it in my opinion if you have even a few VST's you'd like to use.
@@blotterdreams I bought the pro version of VCV Rack, and I can't send the notes out of VCV to FL Studio via the cv-midi to use it to use it as a sequencer!
Any suggestions? Should I buy the Midi Host as well?
why is my chord generator just doing clicking sounds?
What is your signal chain? So you have it going to a polyphonic oscillator?
with in house synth
@@larrythekingrodi what do you mean within house synth?
Volume kind of low
I think your send reverb must be 0 dry and full wet, otherwise your adding the original back into the mix.
