As for me, I was surprised with no (visible at least) impact on attacking aircraft. No need for irritation here, this is not mission author's "fault". FW 200 model always looked a bit weak in terms of damage model and gunner's accuracy - since the day it appeared in Il-2.
Okay, where are the gunners? were they sleeping? The FW-200 was in contrary to other german bombers heavely armed, also with 20mm cannons. Additionally, without carriers the Hurricane could'nt operate over sea.
@@ichmalealsobinich Look up the "Sea Hurricane". This was a Hurricane mounted on a deck catapult on a merchant ship. It could be launched when enemy aircraft were spotted. Obviously this was a one-way trip, the pilot was expected to either fly back to land or bail out after their mission.

I have flown IL2 since it came out and I have NEVER seen a landing gear take down of any aircraft , much less a four engine bomber. Did you guys practice that move. Very impressive!!
How about a clash between a Condor, and a Sunderland flying boat. Condor pilots called the Sunderland aircraft the flying porcupine, due to its heavy fire power !
It would be very helpful if you would consider making a tutorial video on how to install the mods you use. Especially for Steam version. Just sayin' :)
Everybody talking about the wheel-kill, but that first pass at the first Condor? Killing the pilot immediately, and that view from the ventral gunner who could do nothing, and that fireball tumble when it hit the water? Damm
Great video, shows deficiency in early British fighters. Even with 8 guns the .303 was just to light to be effective. Thankfully they started using 20mm cannon. I'm still wondering why the US never adopted this practice except in a few types (p38,and 39).
Why would they do that? Before the advent of the Hurricat, the likelihood of a Condor encountering an Allied fighter hundreds of miles out to sea or even near its own bases was practically negligible. As well, any fighters with the necessary range to escort a Fw200 for even a portion of its patrol would have been twin engine aircraft (most likely Ju 88s or Bf 110s) that would have been similarly vulnerable to single engine fighters such as the Sea Hurricane, so it wouldn't make any sense for the Luftwaffe to waste much needed aircraft on such duties.
The obvious problem with escorting a Condor is, that it has way longer range then anything else in the Luftwaffe. One of KG 40s groups, the unit which used the Condors, was equipped with Ju-88C-6s, though. "That month also saw an unfortunate accident befall KG 40’s new Zerstörer Staffel, equipped with the Ju 88C-6 (the unit would become V./KG 40 at the end of the year). Although ostensibly a nightfighter, the Ju 88C-6s supplied to the unit were to be used to perform armed reconnaissance and escort missions in daylight over the Bay of Biscay. It was hoped that the heavily armed C-6 could hold its own against Coastal Command fighters, as well as shoot down maritime patrol aircraft. The aeroplane’s effectiveness in the latter role was quickly proven on 15 July 1942 when Feldwebel Henny Passier shot down a Wellington of No 311 Sqn. However, in the process of getting used to operating in conjunction with the Fw 200, Hauptmann Karl-Hans Weymar collided with a Condor in his Ju 88C-6 during an air combat training mission on 22 July. Both the Condor, flown by Feldwebel Alfred Praschl of 9./KG 40, and Weymar’s aeroplane crashed near Bordeaux-Mérignac, killing all three in the Ju 88 and the eight-man Fw 200 crew." Goss, Chris. Early in the war the convoys did not have fighter escort. In 1941 the british deployed CAM ships to counter Condors. These where merchant ships that could launch Hurricanes, but not retrieve them.
