I had a Dan Armstrong 90's reissue that I sold in the early 2000's... Last week I picked up a used Bad Cat Acrylic bass which is basically the same thing but says Bad Cat not Dan Armstrong on the surprisingly real rosewood pickguard. It also came with the original pickup in a box and a Kent Armstrong HBMN1 pickup installed. Best $199 I've ever spent on a bass.

I bought a Bad Cat branded version from Amazon a couple of years ago. My frets were kind of bad and I ended up shimming the neck and replacing the saddle screws with shorter ones so they wouldn’t cut me.
I see where your going with the mods . China makes the basic shapes of the popular bass guitars. You as a player can modify the guitar to the specific changes you want. That dan Armstrong does sound great looks like I am going to grab the warwick buzzard copy I have seen lately
what's the intonation like at the higher frets on this thing? been looking for a 24 fret bass with actually accessible fret and this is one of the only ones that's affordable.
I recently put together the Fistrock P bass kit from Amazon. It went together very well. I had to clean up the fret ends and I had two high frets but it plays well, in my novice opinion. The strings were garbage, I put some GHS flats on it and wow, it came alive. Chinese products have really come a long way, that good and bad.
Gotta be the camera, I like my necks almost flat. I ajusted the truss rod and the neck takes Rotosound RS66LD really well. The bass has super low action.
Just ordered one. Was thinking of getting the BadCat version since it has its own branding but they are sold out so I went for a copy like yours (and it's cheaper). $389 CAD all in shipped. Hopefully I get a good one like yours. Wonder if the Bad Cat instruments version is exactly the same (but with their branding) or if they have differences.
One difference I notice right off the bat is the truss rod cover (black vs wood), the nut is a different color and the back of the pickup cavities seem more opaque than transparent like the bad cat version.

rhyme-guitar was the seller. Ebay check out gave a ridiculous delivery date of 2-3 months but it showed up in about 2 weeks. After owning it a year and using it live I give this bass high marks 👌

The factories keep telling the sellers that the measurement of the neck to bridge is 34". These are actually 32". They are 10.55 pounds
Correct mine is a 32" scale.

The Chinese Lucite basses can be pretty good. I got a headless v-body p-bass with an led switch from eBay that is surprisingly fun to play.
