I really love how you made the lower skirt of your siding out of what I presume is your leftover roofing material. I plan to do the same with mine; we just finished framing our tiny cabin last week, we'll work on the roof on the next trip. Thanks for being such a great source of inspiration, your work is awesome!

I very much enjoyed your cabin build video. Congratulations! It looks incredible and the scenery and wildlife are beautiful. You and I are very much alike. We both are building off grid, we both started with raw land, we both have a Woodland Mills HM126 saw mill, we both built a cabin. My interior is done with the exception of the wood siding on the walls but in the next couple months that will be complete. I agree with you that while it was work it was fun work building in the woods on our property for guests to stay in when visiting us. I built it 12' x 24', big enough for a king size bed, couch with coffee table, dining table, propane heater. I enjoyed your video with my coffee this morning.
I watched all of your videos building this cabin. This one is a great video for anyone thinking of building a get-a-way and needs inspiration. I really enjoyed this one. and I still think you are a very detailed and meticulous builder. I’m in the process of building an outdoor kitchen next to my 16x20 cabin so I watching you 👉. Thanks, from Hells Canyon, Frank.
We've come a long way from when the old-timer's built cabins in these parts....pretty amazing how efficient all these construction materials can be picked up reasonably locally and go together almost seamlessly...Cheers man! Very cool content!

Hello Patrick, I just wanted to say I tore down an old barn that was well over 100 years. I saved all the wood. I didn’t do anything with it yet but I will.
Doug, great job on the tree even with small saw. I have the same fire ant reaction as most "victims" . Pure rubbing alcohol, asap, will stop blisters and future possible scaring. Stay safe and keep on doing what you guy's do!!
Great work! The outside looks very handsome. The awning above the front door looks great and is needed. I love the addition of solar. I always want to see how you decorated the interior. It's very important using the proper color, size, fit, style, and finish to your interior.
After one year following you, watching from the first video of this cabin and going back to the older videos sometimes, I confess that I don't have one specific moment. I like the content, how you explain everything and how you inspire us, and how you make us feel close. And that's the reason I watch you every weekend. 😊 You make us feel as old friends and it's the best! My wife always say to me: "I can imagine you and Patrick sitting and chatting. It would be a long conversation." 😊 Many times I thought on chat to you by e-mail or WhatsApp, but I know the Brazilian and the American culture are different and I respect it. Thanks for being with us every weekend and share your experience with us. Hugs from your Brazilian friend.😊
That means a lot, Ronaldo. Your words are too kind! I totally get that feeling of friendship that’s developed in this community. Hopefully we can communicate one way or another other. I appreciate you being here! Hugs back🙏
Very, very nice. Hope whoever uses it enjoys it more than I appreciate watching the build. That is saying a lot considering the fine all around work done here. 😁
I thought this would be tedious to watch, but....NO! It was SO interesting! My X was a contractor, so I was familiar with a number of the products and processes in your video. My favorite two things: the wonky/wonderful small tree limbs that made up the "railing" for the loft and, especially, that you left all the walls unfinished. That very light wood is a wonderful contrast to the finishes put on the other areas and it also makes the inside seem more open and bright, too. Thanks a bunch!!🦌🦌
4:50 Watching you put that laminated 2x and osb header together made me remember my ancient vehement hatred of osb that I no longer have. It might be due to old age or that osb has greatly improved and is not the garbage it once was.
@@LifeontheMoose I'd like to think I've grown up, but that hasn't affected other...annoyances. OSB and chip board are better made now. I especially like the t&g.

Ha thanks! If there was a prize for most watch time, you’d be a finalist! 🙏🙏
Uhoh! Didn't know I was getting doomed. 😁
I really love how you made the lower skirt of your siding out of what I presume is your leftover roofing material. I plan to do the same with mine; we just finished framing our tiny cabin last week, we'll work on the roof on the next trip. Thanks for being such a great source of inspiration, your work is awesome!
Thank you! I’m honored to be anyone’s inspiration. 🙏I did order the steel specifically for the siding, btw.
@@LifeontheMoose You bet! I could only order 12ft sheets. My rafters are only 9 feet long, so that will leave exactly what I need to put in a skirt that's 3ft tall.
23:06 I like that you can easily access the eaves and use the entire attic space. Very nice !
🙏
I Applaud your Craftsmanship Skills, Excellent Build my friend. & What a Spot, look at all of Gods Beautiful Wildlife Everywhere. You are very fortunate. Happy for you. God Bless you and your family. Stay Safe Stay Healthy Positive and Blessed. Amen
✌️ Peace 🙏 from Big Jim New Hampshire USA aka Boston Strong
Ah thank you, NH! I really am fortunate. I appreciate the kind words.🙏
Hey fantastic! So glad you liked the video, and glad you’re doing it! Sounds like a great place. 🙏
adding the osb to the joist and flipping it over is awesome. I've been doing wrong all these years. Thanks
Thank YOU! Appreciate you watching.🙏
Beautiful cabin! This is something I have wanted to do for years, this video inspires me to get with it. I only wish I had your skill!
As long as you’re inspired, you can learn the rest. Don’t wait!
Thank you.🙏
I watched all of your videos building this cabin.
Thank you, Frank! You’re too kind.🙏
I’ve been a carpenter for 40 years. Great job. I wish I was there to help you.
That means a lot coming from you. Thank you!🙏
I love that you pre built floor with insulation. Smart man
You even put blocking in first for joist.
Thank you!🙏
We've come a long way from when the old-timer's built cabins in these parts....pretty amazing how efficient all these construction materials can be picked up reasonably locally and go together almost seamlessly...Cheers man! Very cool content!
Hey thanks so much! I really appreciate that. And yes…amazing indeed.🙏
Great vid just love watching someone so obviously competent doing something he so obviously enjoys got to say it’s been a fantasy of mine for years to have a back country cabin to hole up in with a good firewood food whiskey supply and a heap of good books and just winter over Love what you’ve done man
Ah you are writing the right story! And I appreciate your kind words. 🙏I’d say start. Something, anything, just start.
My only regret with all this is not starting sooner.
Wow!!! it is a life work of art and experienced just love it. though I dont build nor had build anything, I admire those that truly know their thing. watching these vids teaches, and encourage me to build my own house. I have a farm shed ( 22x12) that I want to turn it into a 4BD with a (22x9) decking that face the river.
Thank you! I’m honored to provide any encouragement. Sounds like a good project. Let me know how it goes!🙏
Hello from England. Lovely cabin in a beautiful location. You’re a strong dude lifting that roof beam with one hand.
Ha thanks! I just look stronger on video…🤔😅
@@LifeontheMoose and modest too!
Good job sir. I was very impressed with the architecture. Your commitment to make your concept a reality, I learned a lot from watching this video. Thank you so much for posting.
Hey that’s awesome. I appreciate you watching.🙏
@@LifeontheMoose please Post more I'm a 1st time home owner and I would like to learn how to do updates to my home like adding a walk out deck , remodeling my basement and bathrooms .
Hello Patrick, I just wanted to say I tore down an old barn that was well over 100 years. I saved all the wood. I didn’t do anything with it yet but I will.
Hey fantastic! Let me know where that wood ends up.
Doug, great job on the tree even with small saw. I have the same fire ant reaction as most "victims" . Pure rubbing alcohol, asap, will stop blisters and future possible scaring. Stay safe and keep on doing what you guy's do!!
Doug?😅
Brilliant! Mad skills doing that all solo. Impressive. Loved the sketchy ladder dance during the roof install.
Ha sketchy is an apt word! I appreciate you watching.🙏
Great work! The outside looks very handsome. The awning above the front door looks great and is needed. I love the addition of solar. I always want to see how you decorated the interior. It's very important using the proper color, size, fit, style, and finish to your interior.
Thanks so much! I’ll eventually get around to another deep dive video with it furnished/decorated. 🙏
Very well done! I’m impressed at how good of a job you were able to do all alone!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching. It was a fun project…and more coming up.🙏
After one year following you, watching from the first video of this cabin and going back to the older videos sometimes, I confess that I don't have one specific moment.
I like the content, how you explain everything and how you inspire us, and how you make us feel close.
And that's the reason I watch you every weekend. 😊
You make us feel as old friends and it's the best! My wife always say to me: "I can imagine you and Patrick sitting and chatting. It would be a long conversation." 😊
Many times I thought on chat to you by e-mail or WhatsApp, but I know the Brazilian and the American culture are different and I respect it.
Hugs back🙏
@@LifeontheMoose Hi, Patrick. I hope everything is find there. I sent an email to you, to the channel's email, with my contacts. Hugs.
Trim job done with a circular saw is impressive! Great job its a beautiful cabin!
Ha thank you! Glad you’re here.🙏
Very, very nice. Hope whoever uses it enjoys it
more than I appreciate watching the build. That
is saying a lot considering the fine all around
work done here. 😁
Wow that means a lot! Thank you.🙏
I sure like the “extension cord” solar system…ladder connection and ladder build were another wonderful touch
Hey nice! Glad you liked it and watched.🙏
Embracing DIY projects allows creativity to flourish, turning ordinary materials into unique expressions of personal style.
💯Indeed! Glad you’re watching.🙏
Iwas impressed right away with pilot techniques, bending rebar and the brackets in the concrete…So, I had to subscribe
Hey awesome! I appreciate the subscribe.🙏
Beautifully done! That cabin will stand for a long time because it was so well built.
I’d like to think so!
I appreciate you watching.🙏
I thought this would be tedious to watch, but....NO! It was SO interesting! My X was a contractor, so I was familiar with a number of the products and processes in your video. My favorite two things: the wonky/wonderful small tree limbs that made up the "railing" for the loft and, especially, that you left all the walls unfinished. That very light wood is a wonderful contrast to the finishes put on the other areas and it also makes the inside seem more open and bright, too. Thanks a bunch!!🦌🦌
Hey I’m so glad you thought it was interesting! I appreciate you watching.🙏
4:50 Watching you put that laminated 2x and osb header together made me remember my ancient vehement hatred of osb that I no longer have. It might be due to old age or that osb has greatly improved and is not the garbage it once was.
Perhaps a touch of both!
@@LifeontheMoose I'd like to think I've grown up, but that hasn't affected other...annoyances. OSB and chip board are better made now. I especially like the t&g.
@@Maxid1 Agreed!
