OK I don't know what's going on with me but watching this made me extremely happy inside and I cried. ( I think I'm at that age. I'm 39 going into 40 next year). I LOVE everything about this shed!!!❤ Absolutely beautiful. Honestly I would sleep in there or use it as a treehouse for my children. The tree on your ground really compliment the shed and vice versa. ❤👘🍜🏯🚜🔥

Thank gawd we have Government to tell us what we're allowed to do... I mean, we wouldn't want to build something more suited for the it's use or anything. That being said, nice job, I like seeing interesting builds with interesting styles.

      Thank you! We appreciate it!
Ha, yeah, we really wish we could have used a sonotube foundation … but, code is code. 🤪 ha, we also found it ironic that we could use a poured concrete footer for the ramp, but not for the shed. 😂
For our next bigger builds at least, we’ll be doing additions & decks, which does both require a permit and also lets us use better foundations.

A lot (not all) of Ridgid products have a lifetime service warranty as long as you register them. You might be able to get your portable nailer fixed for free. I did the same thing with my impact driver.

Thanks!! Yes, ours has a warranty, but the closest repair service center is 2 hours away 😬
We’ll be taking it there sometime when it’s on our way, they said they’ll definitely repair it. 🙂

This is a great channel. And this is one of the most beautiful sheds that I have ever seen; so well designed. I can’t wait to see what you do next.

To your comment about japanese vs craftsman: craftsman was HEAVILY inspired by traditional Japanese architecture and attempted to modernize and adapt it to American climates. If you look at Stickley's early drawings they are extremely similar to traditional Japanese woodworking.

Thank you!! You’re right - we should have thought to include more of those shots!
There’s a lot of footage of the inside in these videos if you’d like to see more:

If we see enough interest, we’re happy to make an ‘after’ video showing everything we’re using the interior for and that overall design. Be sure to let us know if this is something you’d like to see. 🙂

how did you end up in japan? did you build your house too?

    • @buildingmodern
      @buildingmodern  9 днів тому

Thanks for asking - I guess we should clarify. We’re in the US in the South - we used a Japanese design aesthetic for this build, though we used western building techniques.
We haven’t had the chance to build our own house yet, but have taken on major renovations ourselves (removing load bearing walls w/ homeowner permits, completely renovating all of our bathrooms ourselves, well, and the entire house at this point). Later this year or next, we may take on adding a large screen porch & deck addition ourselves, and then hopefully a huge 14’ tall art room addition later on. Lots of projects to come!
Thanks for watching! Sorry for any confusion!

    • @buildingmodern

@@womanofwazowe likely would be if it was the right investment/price and not breaking code in their area. I’m not sure that really aligns though. But, hey, reach out if you want a similar shed or ADU - we’d be on board 🙂 hellobuildingmodern@gmail.com

It is better to build a house on a tree if there are large trees nearby

    • @buildingmodern

Great idea! In our area, this would require a permit and become a bit more complicated for us, but it’s definitely an idea to consider! Thanks for watching! 🙂

Not bad for DIYers but way too many hack jobs. Like not matching all sides and different shingles on the roof ( very ammeter)
