My son got involved in a serous work accident, with 25% of his body in 3rd degree burns. He needed grafts, lots of dressings for healing and lots of all kind of therapy, for 3 years. I have no idea how much he cost for the system. But after this PTSD, he went back to school and has 1 more year to become an engineer. He's 29 years old and has life before him to be a useful and productive member of society, and being able to pay back part of the cost of his treatments.

    Thank you for this video, Dr. Deuk. Thank you for speaking up for all of us. The best health care happens when the decisions are kept between the patient and the doctor. The more detached the entity, the less informed and ethical the decision-making becomes.
    Whole reason I discarded my traditional health insurance for a health share plan which allows me to have more control over the doctors I see and the treatments I receive. It has been a literal life-saver.

    • @virginiamoss7045
      @virginiamoss7045 18 днів тому

      What's a health share plan? I have 100% coverage with a traditional health plan, a Medicare supplemental policy plus Medicare part A and B. I could say you get what you pay for. I never pay anything (other than premiums), never see a bill, never a co-pay or co-insurance, even with a $300,000++ heart surgery. Nothing. No networks, no pre-authorizations, no limits. I pay $300 a month plus $174. I find this to be a huge bargain after paying for very expensive and crappy individual policies for 40 years because I was self-employed. It does come down to the fact that you get what you pay for.
      Now, corporate America refuses to pay a living wage so most folks can't afford much of anything, not even housing sometimes. There's a cancer eating up our country and it's the rich and powerful. It's not the Republicans or Democrats as all the politicians would like for us to think so they can keep us fighting with each other. It's the rich against the poor.

    Thank you for this video. I had back surgery in my late 20s and it was delayed by six months. During that wait period with extreme pain my mental health tanked. I was suicidal and I stuck it out to raise my son. My back healed with physical therapy and 40 years later the mental health problems continue. I’m on medication and I go to therapy/ counseling weekly and just pay cash.
    I’m thankful that this situation lit a fire in our country and around the world!
    We need to work together because there’s more of us than our representatives who are pocketing heafty sums of money through insurance lobbying.
    I noticed that a rally type of march is scheduled for January 18th to walk through Washington DC but I’m not able to make this first one. I hope we can schedule one monthly. ❤

      We need to have a peaceful ✌🏽 protest for change and to free Luigi! There are MORE of us than them! I'm so glad your back got better and praying for your depression because I'm bedbound and in chronic pain since 2020 from my back. Screws and rods can't walk and pain because the insurance company delayed delayed delayed. The chronic pain in my back for 4 years is making me depressed to the point I love life but this isn't living and in this kinda pain I'm considering unaliving myself I can't take the pain in my back any longer. And I have insurance now and still not getting help because the spine doctors in Houston, Texas are illiterate! 😢

The temp agency that I work for offers medical insurance for my wife and me but it would cost approximately $1,100.00 per month, which is roughly my mortgage payment.

    When I was under retirement age I had to take a job that didn't offer health insurance benefits We tried to buy insurance and were willing to pay for the Monthly Premium in Full No One would sell me insurance! I was fairly healthy but had high blood pressure and and high sugar With medication I was easily able to control these problems. Fortunately a hospital in our area treated persons without insurance We paid a fee but at least I got needed health care. (The doctors who treated uninsured patients were internships doctors in training) Thankful for this situation 🙏👏💘💯

    I live in Japan which has national health insurance. I currently suffer from a lung disease and every month I get a check up by my doctor which costs me 10,000 yen (around $70). That included a blood test, a chest x-ray, medicine, and a 30 minute consultation with the doctor. I point this out to my family and despite that and they pay hundreds for insurance every month and then see a doctor and still have to pay hundreds of dollars, think the US system is better.

    The fact is that laser surgery is cheaper (& more successful) in comparison of the disc surgery that insurance companies cover. Typical disc surgery would cost about $100k, with a follow up surgery of another $100k, while laser surgery is $36k, with no follow up surgery, usually.

In fact the UA-cam showing Senator Warren's showed up in my feed recently even though it was from several years ago so you can easily Google Senator Warren Senate hearing UHC CEO

    In your opinion, Dr. Deuk, would doctors be on board to change over to a single payer system in this country? I feel that the only reason that “We the people“ have health insurance companies who are running amok is because we ALLOW it! There needs to be a grassroots effort to protest like never before to get rid of the insurance companies and finally switch over to a single payer system. My fear is that doctors would not go for that, especially since the AMA lobbies in Washington against it, and it would prevent doctors from making untold amounts of money per year.

      In November 2024, the majority of voters decided against it. While the left is variable on this issue, the right consistently and solidly supports deregulation. They want companies, including insurance companies, to do whatever they want. Their voters spoke in favor of that, and they're a bit quiet right about now, but come January, they'll get more of what they voted for. The right has spoken, and that's what they said they want, over and over again. And they won the election. The people have spoken.
