UNITEDHEALTHCARE HARASSES DOCTORS!

- Опубліковано 25 лют 2021
- UnitedHealthcare and Optum are vile, evil institutions that simply don’t care for patients or their providers. Their only concern is preserving their bottom line, and they will resort to mafioso-style schemes to do so. That’s a damn fact.
They endlessly/needlessly harass doctors by requesting additional information for nearly every claim submitted and then deny that records were ever received when offices call to follow-up, creating an endless cat and mouse game. It’s a classic BS maneuver employed to delay payment for services already rendered.
Further, their “audits” are essentially white-collar mob-esque shakedowns, designed to break doctors into submission and surrender payment for services already administered (and in many cases also reviewed by UHC before any payment was even made). Sadly, paying off these corporate gangsters becomes the path of least resistance, as the legal fees required to fight them are oppressive and financially debilitating.
These deplorable practices are immoral, shameful, and downright criminal. Doctors, especially solo-practices and small groups, MUST speak out.
Enough is enough!

WOW a doctor with the COURAGE to SPEAK UP against United Healthcare! I applaud you for speaking up and sharing this! I wish more doctors took this approach instead of selling out to private equity.
I wish more doctors AND patients would speak up. It’s the only way to stop these corporate gangsters.
Hi . Agree as fellow doctor . We have to start a national campaign against United to get patients not to select them and Doctors to demand their correct and deserved pay . They actively try these illegal tactics not to pay legitimate bills. let me know what your thoughts are.
First step is exposing these criminals. Be as vocal as possible. 👊🏽
Having major problems with UHC and came looking for answers.. glad I'm finding out.
My mom has UHC and I'm starting to hate this company. They are shameless, liars, don't care about the elderly with chronic medical conditions, deliberately frustrating their clients, i.e., they don't care about your healthcare needs! 😡😡😡😡😡
You got that right! They ONLY care about maximizing their profits off the backs of patients and their docs!
I’m so sorry that you’re going through this extortion. I have a few stories about United myself when my husband had lung cancer, trying to make us pay $10,000.00, them not paying lung specialist for a procedure saying the office didn’t get a referral. Five hours on the phone and I wouldn’t take no for an answer.
I’m glad you’re coming out with this and I hope other doctors join in with you to fight back. Insurance companies are the biggest ripoffs for which we have to pay. Medicare has some fancy tricks up their sleeves as well. I wish you the very best.
Yes, ma'am, insurance are companies are the precise root of every issue in healthcare today. They make their profits entirely off the backs of patients and their providers. It's shameful and criminal.
My mom sold her practice to optum and they absolutely are harassing her and creating an intimidating work environment to push her out of the practice she ran for 20 years. They have absolutely destroyed patient care and they treat her like a work dog. They are the absolute WORST
They’ve destroyed a lot of practices! It’s awful. 😡
So happy I saw this! I just switched over to UnitedHealthCare, which began "coverage" of my meds beginning Jan 1st. Two weeks later, I go to CVS to pick up ALL 7 monthly prescriptions I take, and as of Jan 16th CVS and a host of other large franchise chain pharmacies have ALSO dripped UHC all together!!! FYI: I was on Amerihealth Caritas for 12 years, and NEVER had ANY problems whatsoever.
I havent been to my PCP since Nov '20, so Im hoping that they take UHC. If not, Im screwed...then Im back to chasing my own ass in circles just to take care of my many health ailments, even at my younger age. But thank you very much, Dr. Mudgil, for putting UHC on blast for ALL to see!!!
❤❤👍👍😉😉
That's awful to hear. What a mess. I hope everything works out! The Doc will continue to fight this fight! ;)
Do you have United Healthcare Community plan?
If possible, I would go back to Amerihealth Caritas or even Gateway for a medical assistance plan.
The entire country needs to listen to this man. Unbelievable
Insanity! Please help spread the message. 🤯🤬🤯
If they are still behaving that way United needs a class action lawsuit!
They sure do! Patients and their docs need to be vocal.
The latest thing United is now doing is that when they pay doctors they pay through optum pay (which is a subsidiary of Optum owned by United). And they charge 0.5% fee for making that payment!!
A complete racket! Anything to increase their bottom line. It's shameful.
Does it save time / money have them process the payments?
PS This should be on 60 minutes.
YEEEEESSS!
I'm ready!
Contact CNBC... Great Investigative Report!
Damn right!
I hope someone gets a class action lawsuit against them. For what it's worth our hospital keeps every transmission receipt for anything sent to the insurance. Humana is another one!
Me too! Humana etc. are all cut from the same soulless cloth. UHC is just the most evil in my opinion.
They bought Humana too
Worked @ UHC as a sales agent.
Everything was disguised as “ we are here to help consumers”. Pressured to sell plans even if it’s not a good fit for the consumer.we’re told to think about our commissions
Evil empire, no doubt. A heartless, cold institution.
I am wondering why I get calls from UHC and they are pushing me to make doctors appointments when I don't need to. What are some better insurance companies? On top of being bugged, I can't understand the foreign person calling me representing UHC and each time they ask for my personal information. AARP is a liberal company representing UHC.
Surely it financially benefits them in some way to do so - that’s their only motivation! 🤬
Absolutely true about Optum & United Healthcare. We have to get rid of them. I know someone who works for Optum who use to be my partner. She is a crook, a liar, & unethical doctor. Report them to the Department of Insurance and Banking. We can’t let these insurers get away with it
It’s criminal. Those docs that join the dark side are generally bottom of the barrel, no doubt.
YES and AMEN! UHC is absolutely an evil institution that UNLAWFULLY DENIES care! We run into this all the time with any and all of our prosthetic patients with UHC. We get the same lies and the same run around of them "losing our notes". And what really pisses me off is when they use an amputee in one of their recent commercials. We have to fight for at least a year to get coverage for a basic prosthesis for our patients.
It's quite literally criminal! They have NO soul.
This needs to be covered by the fucking news. I have been working in healthcare for ten years fighting tooth and nail just to get them to pay for medication or treatment that a patient desperately needs.
It sure does! It’s up to us - patients and doctors - to be as vocal as we can and expose the devilish, shady behavior of these morally bankrupt companies.
There is no law, no order, no justice . We are all dead meat. Take care Doc.
That's precisely why patients and their docs MUST speak up! Let's get it! 👊🏾
Where are the politicians that we elect to protect us from these vultures? as a patient, paying UHC Plan N, a lot of money and they cover very little or nothing. They make it so complicated for the consumer that it's impossible to keep up with constant changes every year.
They’re in bed with the insurance companies, unfortunately. That’s why it’s up to us, patients and doctors, to be as vocal as possible. 👊🏽
LOVE IT when you said I don't owe them shit!! I hope this will be the beginning of a shift in their racket. Keep fighting!
They actually owe me! 😉
I am an Allied Healthcare professional and agree with you 100%. First they will reimburse the claims submitted with all the proper documentation(included in the claim thru Kareo), then a few months later, they want their money back saying as a form of "overpayment". Lately I just complied with all the guidelines they need like to re-submit documentations and guess what they did with my most recent claims submitted, they paid "0" dollar saying that it's a garnishment for unpaid overpayments. It is giving professional services for free. We all have our business expenses such as office lease, payroll etc. which were already paid and UHC want their money back. This is a straight up EXTORTION. We do our best to provide good healthcare to their members and this is what we get. I don't know how the CEO of UHC can sleep at night knowing that they literally putting a gun on us. I strongly agree for a Class Action Lawsuit for this insurance company.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s criminal! 🤬
@@DrMudgil Did you stop accepting UHC members, both Medicaid & Medicare?
@@ronaldrustia658 I don't accept Medicaid, but unfortunately have too many patients on other UHC plans - I can't abandon them.
@@DrMudgil Glad I don't have United. But if I did, and I knew my doctor wasn't getting paid, I'd change jobs just to get away from UHC insurance. Nobody should work for free unless it's a donation to the common good/volunteer work. The fact that we patients pay higher insurance rates because of the warfare between providers and insurers makes my blood boil. We could cut costs instantly if insurers gave doctors a fair deal and pay promptly so they didn't have to fight for money.
man, as an employee of an insurance company that works with UHC, I believe every word you say, I came to your video to understand what is really going on there, from the side of the medical provider.
What you say is simply blowing my mind, the conduct of UHC is so bad that in most cases, we make reimbursements, from our money to take care of our members, the only reason we are obliged to work with UHC in the United States, is due to regulatory laws that oblige us, amen and it is not was the case.
In the end, the patients and the medical provider are the ones who suffer the most from this conduct.
No doubt. These are spineless, heartless, shameful institutions who couldn't care less about patients or their providers. Their only concern are the dollars in their bank account.
I say this everyday and blame UHC for my high blood pressure. For 15 years I have been trying to find out HOW this MAP company gets away with “everything” and run everything.
We are in for a class action suit if my prayers ever get answered.
We are a PCP office dealing with the same exact shit!!!!
I knew that the CHC hack was going to happen as soon as UHG got acquisition and govt already questioned this months prior and NOTHING was done to prevent
It doesn’t help that our elected officials are in bed with companies like UHC. Shameful. 🤬
I’ve seen this so many times billing for providers where the claim processing will get drawn out for so long for additional documentation, modifiers, prior auth, medical necessity, utilization, all kinds of different reasons and then by the time you think they’re about to accept and reimburse- after all of the appealing..it’ll be denied for timely filing. It’s all a game.. -_-
It's a cruel game, indeed. These companies have no moral compass. Their mantra is profit over patients and their providers at all costs.
You are so right on! I agree with you. Now I am feeling guilty, I am on Medicare and guess who my secondary is with. Somehow these insurance companies need to be held accountable. I can’t even begin to imagine what the CEO, CFO and shareholders reap.
Their CEOs make in the tens of millions of dollars range. Shameful and deplorable. Medicare is by far the easiest insurer to deal with.
So sorry that they have put you through so much pain and headaches. This problem is throughout the country with health care providers. Our country has lost many doctors because of this and they can't deal with it and close their doors and get out of practice.
You are absolutely right! It's a broken system, and the greedy, scum-of-the-earth private insurance companies are to blame!
The exact same medication will be $47.00 and the next month it’s nearly $300.00
For UHC and OPTUM it's invariably profits before patients. They are soulless.
The only value UnitedHealthcare provides is to their shareholders: look at their stock price, lol! Outside of that, valueless.
Yup! It’s a total racket. Profit at any expense off the backs of patients and their providers. Shameful!

Thank you so much for speaking out! I’m a private Behavioral Health provider (mental health and substance use disorders) in Idaho. Although, I was born and raised in Bklyn, NY. Optum is the primary manage care organization for Medicaid clients in our area. Before Optum my small agency had a reasonable profit margin and a huge success rate in assisting our client to make excellent progress Our ability to profit allowed us to give more back to the sick and suffering in our community as well as provide our staff with decent pay raises, specialized trainings/continued education, health insurance, etc. Since Optum has monopolized our area I’ve had numerous silent strokes on both sides of my brain I contribute this sad reality to having to work 10, 12, and 15-hours a day to keep up with their admin demands. I’ve depleted my savings to keep our doors open, I’m unable to take proper care of my team, or provide clients with the fun activities we used to do. So much time and energy for very little money is spent on jumping through Optum’s hoops there little left for the primary purpose the client. As of lately our ability to make progress with those we serve have greatly diminished 😢 I hope I’m not penalized for speaking out bc I have in the past
Optum and UHC embody everything wrong with healthcare. They could care less about patients or their providers. Their only concern is maximizing their profits using any shameful tactics necessary. It’s deplorable.
As a patient, could you please tell me anyone that's not like this to the doctors and patients? I had Humana and was happy with it, but I just got talked into signing up for UnitedHealth care. Now I am kinda freaked out cuz I love my doctors!
I have eob statements for thousands of dollars for out of network labs ordered by my in network doctor. Almost no in network doctors in my area. The eob statement quote my portion over the maximum yearly out of pocket. How does that work? Call them, same song and dance of basically we do what we want to answers. These labs are simple for things like blood sugar, strep, flue. This is shameful.
Shameful, indeed! 🤬
Sorry doc that you had to go through this. Thanks for speaking up about it! 👊🏾

With Class Actions. They take their fee AFTER success and this could be a professional coup for an Attorney to get publicized. NYS Supreme Court, US DOJ, are also resources. Unitedhealth is Abusing Business Practices, Business Laws they are required to follow. In addition, Unitedhealth has bought up so many Insurance companies that Antitrust Laws may be involved. One other angle is the SEC as it's a publicly traded company looking for profits for their stock prices. How these profits are obtained thru creative accounting could break them up into smaller companies again. This timeframe historically is equal to the Teddy Roosevelt days of Trust Busting where there was no to little competition in a myriad of Businesses! Health Insurers are businesses too. So many Doctors have had to join into groups affiliated to hospitals just to avoid doing this work on their own. IT'S RIDICULOUS!
All this insanity is causing healthcare & heart insurance costs to rise on every level. Paying staff, Medical Billing Co's, Your Wasted Valuable Time, Additional Overhead Costs, etc, etc are some areas to explore.
I used to be involved in Billing and was a Professional Provider as well. NO ONE IS TRAINED ANYMORE! I had to leave the business... Too frustrating and exhausting!

You are so right. Despite this you continue to accept insurance in hopes that the roulette wheel will one day land on your number. I am not a physician but other healthcare professional who also accepts insurance. This fight is real and is getting worse. I know more and more practitioners are moving to cash only and letting clients file with their insurance companies. I haven't done that and don't want to. Everyone loses in this system. Sorry for the trouble you have had. On the other side you are a very kind and personable person as well as encouraging and positive. I hope for positive outcomes in all of your ventures.

I'm a secretary, type 100 wpm, got blacklisted for snitching out "metoo." I hear a lot of executives talk about how their staff can't do things that I've never had a problem doing. Sending those notes and compiling them should have taken about an hour, btw, with a simple database.
Oh man!! Where to start with this.... I work at a urologist office and I am in charge of scheduling radiology imaging and getting authorizations for those scans. I cannot tell you the hardship and runaround I get from United Healthcare.
When I schedule high tech imaging for patients that were just diagnosed with cancer to see if it has metastasized, only to be told by United Healthcare and many other insurance companies that they are denying the request. I have received denials because their cancer was not serious enough.
Part of the problem is these third party vendors that insurance companies have hired to decide whether or not imaging is needed. These third party vendors have their own "guidelines" they follow but not what the actual patient's physician is requesting.
How can insurance companies dictate healthcare and play god with patient's lives? It is so frustrating.
Truly unbelievable! It makes the system impossible to navigate, both for patients and providers. A true mess.
Coming from a frustrated A/R rep, you are SPOT ON!
It’s a crazy system! Patients and their docs must continue to be vocal! 👊🏽
You are 100% right. They suck. Thanks for speaking up.
They sure do! Please spread the message. 🙏🏽
@@DrMudgil spread the message to whom? Check into RICO, class action, litigation funders
Omg 😮Dr. I’m so sorry and Thank you 🙏 Thank you 🙏 for sharing with us this bad experience with this bunch of shameless thief.
🙏🏽👊🏽🙏🏽
I'm so sorry for what you are going through. It isn't fair at all. Good luck in the future ♡
Thank you!
You need to reach out to every physician you know with a giant fucking class-action lawsuit
Every patient needs to get involved too! We’re ALL getting screwed by vile companies like UHC! 🤬
@@DrMudgil you're absolutely right!
@@DrMudgil honestly, as a DON for a home care agency myself, I thought this was just us they were giving a hard time to (it was some Medicaid CMO in our case) but it's becoming apparent that this just the standard MO for many of these insurance companies. To the point where there were a number of these Medicaid CMOs that we just had to flat out stop accepting.
As you mentioned, it's sad because many of these patients thought they had at least mid-tier plans with decent insurance companies. Come to find out, the network of providers is shrinking exponentially because the insurance companies are burning those bridges. Worst yet, many of these plans that these patients are paying for are not bottom dollar plans. They're paying big money to still not have providers that they can see if need be (and they're often not aware of this until something happens to them that requires them to seek care).
I looked it up and the mechanisms of regulatory oversight are a little convoluted. Many states have an insurance commissioner (this might be a great place to start on a state level), and then it's unclear if it is HHS or CMS that would oversee these insurance companies at the fed level.
As the DON of a home care agency, I honestly just thought that they were just pushing US around. With us, it wasn't UHG, it was a medicaid CMO in our state. I had no idea it was so widespread.
I did a little digging and found that regulatory oversight is a bit convoluted. It appears that on a state level, there is the insurance commissioner on the federal level, it's unclear as to whether it's CMS, HHS, or a combination of the two.
Three years later I am still getting mail (Double mailings) from United HEALTHNOCARE"
Not surprised ...
United health care sucks !
They sure do. The others are not much different ...
One type of insurance for everyone would solve everything
Definitely would simplify matters for both patients and their providers. ;)
If we have ADA who should we use for our insurance based on you as a doctors experience?
Thanks for the informative video. I was clueless. Sorry you are being put thru this. I forgive the adjectives because they deserve so much worse. I said years ago that insurance isn't run by logical medical people. It's run by accountants & lawyers
These companies represent the absolute worst society has to offer. Please help share this message. 🙏🏽
Stop accepting UHC insurance. Not a good thing for your UHC patients but work out a cash only plan for those individuals...
A bit easier said than done - I'm also a pathologist and read slides for the patients of other doctors who accept UHC, which makes dropping them a challenge.
Perhaps it’s in the comments below, my apologies if it is. Have you tried filing complaints with the insurance commission in your state?
Yes, ma’am. We have.
I just looked up compensation for their top executives. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!
It’s absolutely criminal! All off the backs of patients and their doctors. White collar gangsters ...
And there my friends, is everything you need to know. Follow the $$$$
Hi Doc, the only way to go is a class action lawsuit. Put them in their place and let them know u are alive. Stay calm and I will pray for u . LU
You know The Doc is fighting the fight! ;)
Dr Mudgil we hear you. United isn't just what's wrong with American healthcare, it's what's wrong with societies worldwide. The adoration of profit & gathering of wealth by corporations, has utterly destroyed the lives of millions. And you're analogy of someone holding a gun to your head to extort money from you, is unfortunately a reality.
Millions of people either sick, old, disabled or unemployed face this abuse EVERY day. From their electricity, phone & water suppliers and most definitely from their banks. And these people are the lucky ones. These people haven't been evicted & become homeless.....yet.
I really hope that other doctor's rally around you in support & in protest against this obscene organisation.
I can only imagine how hard it is to stay focused & get up & work every day with such a guillotine hanging over your head.
Sending you hope & strength from across the Atlantic ocean ✊💚💛🧡🇨🇮
Very well said! Thanks for the good vibes! The fight goes on! ;)

I don't know about United, but it is always a run around.
They are the biggest white collar criminals in the game ... 🤯

This is horrible, I do not like United health care.
It’s a BAD company, no doubt. Lots of bad karma!
There is nothing more I can uniquely add to this hideous inequality in the USA. In spite of what folks here have to say about Canada, to my knowledge they are better. I only have word from a few folks up there which does not statistically mean a thing.
I did know a nurse practitioner who said health care is much better in Canada. However, as slow as are vacination rate is, theirs is even slower.
I think their system is certainly better.
I am so happy that I am a Canadian
the end game is socialized medicine - if you don't see it then I don't know what else to say.....
It’s actually not if insurers like UHC are held accountable. The problem is they’re in the pockets of our legislators, who are essentially being bribed to legislate in their favor. It’s a broken system designed by insurers and empowered by our elected officials to maximize insurer’s profits off the backs of patients and their docs. Shameful! 🤯
@@DrMudgil Wait 5 years, UHC will be the monopolist on the market.....and that is how US will finally get their single payer system. This is what happens when physicians let businessmen run medicine. The system has been broken for a long time and it's only going to get worse.
@@niunka1 I’m afraid that’s the case too …
I'm curious what kind of procedures were they giving you grief over?
A whole bunch of codes that pretty much run the gamut.
agree greedy same politicians
Oh my, I’m going through open enrollment now and I have a choice between BlueCross BlueShield and UnitedHealthcare and this was helpful. I sure wouldn’t want my doctors frustrated about getting paid for services rendered. I need you happy. Everyone wants to get paid for their work regardless!!! I have empathy and I’m not dealing with UHC 😂🤣 Fuckem!!!
Listen, none of these private insurers are great. They don't about patients or doctors - they ONLY care about their profit, which is earned off premiums paid in and by denying payments to doctors. They're all shameful, immoral, deplorable companies. UHC just leads the detestable pack, in my opinion.
Any update on this sir? Did you pay them a dime?
They ended up backing down, but it cost me upward of $30K in legal fees! 😩
@@DrMudgil Oh no. Who could be the one responsible for this? Maybe the one who gave you a wrong fax number or the ones assigned to process the provider's claims.
Thank you!
It's up to us to speak up! ;)
Looking at this knowing I have UnitedHealth care. 👀 lmaooo it’s not my fault….
I do too, unfortunately! 😩
I am a five-time cancer patient with a rapidly growing type of cancer and when I say rabbit I mean in a matter of one month I can go from nothing to five masses in my lower abdomen I was just diagnosed again I have another Mass on my liver and United healthcare has denied my doctor's request to get me a PET scan so that they can determine where the cancer is to go in and take it out I posted a video on UA-cam telling my story
I'm so sorry to hear that. That's criminal. These companies have no soul!
