The average winter nighttime temperature in Vancouver is +2 C. The average winter nighttime temperature in Calgary is -12 C. It is a heck of a lot easier to endure +2C versus -12C during the night and as such many homeless from across the country migrate to Vancouver and Victoria and surrounding areas.
Granville st was cleaned up decades ago as well as the west end of davie st area, now i havent been there for 25 years but i imagine it still isnt as bad or as fun as it once was .
Anybody looking to live homeless in vancouver is in for a rude awakening of sorts First of all , there are thousands doing the same thing. Secondly , the shelters fill up in late october, and you cant get a dry place to sleep anywhere. Third , it rains and or snows almost everyday thru the winter there. Prison starts to look pretty good eventually.
What lol that is so untrue . Look around man...you think cops care about drugs? They dont and now there are more addicts than ever....they rob and steal and camp in your backyard
Downtown Eastside is a made up handle back to 1970s ... really it's just Downtown. and the Eastside is south of Terminal. if anything it is close to the East End. East End, Downtown and West End in that order. by the way the East End starts at Carrall Street... folks need to know where they really are and skip the labels and newly made up names, it's about respect and the Downtown needs lots of respect to reemerge.
