Looks like an amazing lens. However, FYI, Panasonic's L-mount 70-300 is also a 0.5x macro lens. And yes, tele zoom + macro is a fantastic combination. However, the Panny does not accept teleconverters, and thus can't function as a 1.0x macro, like the Sony can.
I love this lens! It really is fantastic add the 2x converter….and I got one of my best pics ever. Sharp!!!
The 70-200 f/2.8 GM II does not trombone out like the new f/4 G II, it is a fixed barrel size like the original, but much less weight.
It's the 50th *full-frame* lens from SONY - there are some 15 or 20 more E-mount APS-C lenses to add!
