the cops KNEW it was a child and KNEW there was a very high fatality risk yet WATCHED the entire time she was behind the wheel, all the way up to letting her “park” in a busy lot with vulnerable, unprepared pedestrians all throughout the parking lot. this is why we need to do away with our current system of policing in America IMMEDIATELY 🙏
It’s beyond outrageous that the officers involved let that situation play out so recklessly. An 8-year-old behind the wheel, swerving on busy roads and in a packed parking lot with pedestrians all around, should’ve been dealt with immediately, not after she had her little Starbucks break. The fact that they watched her driving dangerously and didn’t stop her until after the fact screams negligence, and then they go and joke about it like it’s some lighthearted incident? That’s a massive failure on every level-gross incompetence, endangering public safety, and then acting like it’s no big deal. If they knew she was a child that early on in the pursuit, they had more than enough time and tools to safely intervene. Instead, they stood by, doing nothing while lives were potentially at risk. This isn’t just an issue of poor judgment; it shows a deep-rooted problem in the system where officers are more interested in playing around on social media than doing their actual job. This kind of negligence is why we need drastic reform, if not a complete overhaul, of the way law enforcement operates in this country. Their job is to protect, not sit back and joke about the harm they could have prevented. Shutting down that police department sounds like the bare minimum after something like this.
It’s disgusting how the media can manipulate the public’s perception like this, especially when it comes to a situation as serious as this. When a CNN reporter, or any journalist for that matter, treats something this dangerous with humor or downplays the severity, it becomes a part of the cover-up. They’re giving legitimacy to the officers’ careless handling of the situation, and it’s downright shameful. This isn’t some quirky, lighthearted story to chuckle over-it’s a blatant failure to protect the public. By delivering it with a smile, the reporter essentially becomes an accomplice to this negligence, feeding the public a watered-down version of the truth so they don’t get outraged or demand real accountability. And the average viewer, trusting the voice of a major network, likely won’t dig deeper. They’ll think, “Oh, well, no one was hurt, so it’s fine,” instead of recognizing that this could have ended in a horrific tragedy. This kind of manipulation is dangerous because it keeps people from seeing just how broken the system is-and how complicit the media can be in enabling that brokenness. People need to start thinking critically about the stories they’re being fed, especially when it comes to police misconduct. Otherwise, these officers-and their media allies-will keep getting away with it.
