That's probably THE best weathering job I've seen to date on an RC aircraft. All the other ones I've seen had the panel lines way over pronounced and the dirt build up so concentrated around the lines that the aircraft look like a flying group of squares. I have one of these in my shop and plan to paint it up in the VX-4 / VX-9 scheme. Your Tomcat is simply awesome!
I've said it before but I'll say it again! The weathering makes all the difference in the world for that authentic scale look! Real jets get real dirty and oil and fuel nastiness! Especially something like an F14 on a carrier lol! Panel lines too! Get all kinds of gunk and grim. Amazing work as always ya Geek 🤓😁😛
Fantastic work. Transforms a really nice model into a gorgeous warbird. I'm impressed how well the paint held up while adding the wing sweep streaking.
Great work. What’s ironic is the PC’s name on the mlg door is a good friend of mine. Good ‘ol Johnny Dees. We are both prior Tomcat Egress mechanics. He retired about 10 years ago.
Ah, that’s a good point. I’ve pulled together a complete printed kit and will work to get it in my site soon. Feel free to email me too as I can get it printed for you now.
Well, yesterday I ordered the F-14. Should be at the house in about 2 weeks from what they said.. I want to change the paint scheme on it. I love the jolly rogers scheme. Do you know who could make decals for this jet?? I am also thinking about buying the 90mm fans for it too. I have been on your website and will be purchasing some of the Items from there soon. Especially the bomb drops. I was thinking or wondering if there was anyway that I could make a couple of missile drop from the f-14. Because along with the F-14, I also bought the A-6. Of which I would love to change the Decals on it to find someone to make decals for a A-6 USS Midway plane from Desert Storm of which I was apart of. Do you or could you make a ejector rack with the 6 bombs for A-6?? Too tall of a order? And or a center tank for it as well? I would like to have on the A-6 with the ejector rack on the outside pylon, then the droppable bomb on the inside pylon and then a fuel tank on a centerline pylon. I don’t know if that would be possible. Please let me know if you could help in this process or not. But, it would sure be very nice if you could help in my endeavors to make a dream come true. Thank you in your advice and thank you for reading if you do.
My recommendation for graphics would be Callie-graphics.com. She does custom work in addition to having a number of options for order on her website. Regarding parts and such, I can definitely help you out there. I do have a MER design for the A6 and also have some thoughts for the bombcat. Do me a favor and shoot me an email through my website, it’ll be much easier to continue the conversation there.
@@Thercgeek ok, thank you Sir. I really like your videos. Very informative. And will definitely be watching several of them over and over again. And I hope that my planes come out as awesome as yours. Thank again for such a great UA-cam channel..
For me: 5,000 hour to build/paint - 5 minutes to crash. Looks great! I don't know if I could fly it after all that work. (would help if I didn't keep crashing on Real Flight)
Not usually, no. I also detack the tape when I cut it into strips which helps a lot. The other key is to peel the tape back over itself when peeling it up as it reduces the surface tension by doing so.
Excellent! 🤣. For the lights, I filled and fared them in in the assembly process and then masked them off for the more scale appearance. Then once painted, I airbrushed each the appropriate color using the tamiya clear acrylic paints.
Good Video, explained very well, couldn't help but notice the Rocket City Trash Panda t-shirt. I'm in the Rocket City and will be pulling for the Trash Panda's. Are you in the Huntsville area?
Thanks! I picked up the shirt while visiting a friend out there. I thought it was such a great and funny name for a team and so had to pick up a shirt. 😊
I’m repainting the eflite viper 90. Keeping the camo bottom and all red on top where it’s white. Any tips. Seems like my last paint job made me jet heavy.
It depends on to what extent you go with it. Just painting shouldn’t add too much weight and the 90mm viper should handle a small weight increase pretty easily.
I’ve seen the t45 fly, but haven’t flown it myself. From what I’ve seen, it’s a decent flyer. The newer v2 seems to have a nice performance boost compared to the original release.
@@Thercgeek when you remove decals and it leaves residue and or markings where the decals where. How do you get rid of that. Do you spray the primer then sand it?

Absolutely amazing work. Incredible! Enjoy that beauty and I am sure you will.

Thanks man! Agreed, weathering is what really transforms a scale project and gives it that realism we strive for a scale modelers. 😊
another beautiful makeover
Thank you! 😊
Outstanding my friend, thanks for sharing all of the amazing tips and how to's. Its a good reminder that I have to constantly up my game also 😉
Thanks so much man!

Today has just been perfect. Just got home from my naval aviation introductory flight class, and found this video. Life doesn't get much better.
Thanks man, so glad that this could add goodness to your day. 😊
Great job, Chris
Thank you!
@2:47 !!!! DANG!!! THIS THING IS AMAZING!
Thank you!
That looks amazing Chris!

Awesome Chris!! I always learn something from your video's. The Tomcat turned out great. Thanks for doing these videos.
Thanks man!
Great video! I need to actually finish my scratchbuilds so I can get to this step!
Thanks! I do know the feeling, haha!
Dude!! You Rock!!😅
NEXT LEVEL!!!
Thanks! 😊
Awesome 👍🏻
I hope you're gonna bring it to Palomar event in December so I can bring my Ali Cat to fly them together ❤
That’s the plan! 😊
That’s looking fantastic Chris, very skilled. 👍🏻
Thanks so much!
Gorgeous
Thanks! 😊
Nice work Chris.. Looks real scale-like..

Oh cool!
I need to get to work on painting my tomcat in my uncles favorite scheme VFA-192, The Steel Maces
That’ll look awesome!
Nice job Chris, thanks for sharing! 🥃
Thanks! 😊
Looks great 👍
Thank you!
Looks great, especially the runway shots. That's a field of modelling I never tried. It's a 3D painting.
Thanks so much! I really enjoy aviation photography. It’s fun to try and capture a model in a way that makes it appear real.
when do you think you will be adding the cockpit and detail files on the store?

Freaking sweet.

As far as the centerline tank, would like it to drop as well.

That is the cruel reality sometimes. But, practicing in realflight is a huge help for learning.
Once youve filled panel lines and added primer the green tape dowsnt lift the paint?

Re posted in my notifications ,, so I watched again lol ,, Hey Chris, I must have missed it somehow but what did you do for the correct lighting ?

Ah thank you 🙏 ,, Tamiya clear acrylics

What paint did you use for the landing gear?
I just used rustoleum white primer.
What set of main tires did you use?
Robart 2.75” tires
Awesome! Hey at least you didn't play the TG Music.
Haha! No way, now how on that danger zone. 🤣 #dangerzonefreezone
