Finally actually getting where we need to be with vehicle procurement . A modular , mobile and most importantly multi role vehicle that's not too expensive . We need hundreds of boxers with different roles , it will make logistical repairs and maintenance an absolute cake walk if every version is made from the same chassis . Being able to fit various weapon systems quickly is also huge , Brimstone for anti tank , 30mm's for front line fighting , command and control variants , motars as shown here . This is such a flexible platform we need to start turning away from lots of different vehicles for different roles . All these modern vehicles should be data link capable too making situational awareness fantastic between AH64E and supporting assets all communicating to enhance our force projection despite the relatively small number of troops we actually have .

Ukraine just signed a deal on using the Boxer Platfrom ... but attached with the turret of the Panzerhaubitze 2000. This is called RCH 155. It does looks a bit odd as the turret /gun are looking a bit too huge on the boxer. But it comes with 3 giants bonuses. A: First big howitzer that can shoot while driving. C: Fully automatic charging. B: It is fully remote capable ... meaning you can steer&fire this beast from your couch. Dear Santa!
@@rushco the Rch155 turret is by far not as heavy and large as the Pzh2000 turret, and it also hasnt the autoloader/magazin in the vehicle base like the Pzh2000 ... a completely different design, lighter, smaller magazine and less armored. Pretty much just the gun and some of the firecontrol system is the same. Still at the edge of whats possible on a wheeled basis, but thankfully the Boxer was developed with quiet a large margin for future upgrades. Alltho the designers probably had more armor and IFV turrets in mind rather then thinking about heavy artillery as they gave the Boxer huge amounts of power, offroad capability and stability.

Why not get rid of the moving parts and just make a vertical launch system instead ? I love the mortar system , you could drop it off and pick up another module. Maybe another mortar and leap frog them along ?
brimstone probably doesn't work when launched vertically - it is an air-to-ground missile. you'd need to change the missile to do a 90-degree turn in flight. that will take time to develop, test, fix any issues, test again, etc. if the benefits of vertical launch outweigh disadvantages then that might happen later.

Faster firing, direct fire capabilities, crew is shielded from whatever mayhem might be going on outside. Idk, just makes more sense to me, or perhaps a British company could try and develop something like it, maybe something unmanned.
At the very least they could redesign the Amos/Nemo turrets to be an integrated part of the modular outfitting as and when required. I'm sure the Infanty units would love to know that variant was available to support them on short notice.

I would say so. It's a modern missile for the digital age of distributed lethality -which means two completely different assets can be the designater and shooter.
Brimstone doesn't need a designator. It can be used with one, but it has its own radar and target recognition system and can be fired in the general direction to find it's own target. It can even communicate with the other missiles in the salvo to ensure they all strike different targets.
Lets hope many more nations bring their ingenuity to the table. The Boxer is already the heart of several countries armies. And with every country more producing the Boxer the supply chain gets hardened even more. If two more major countries jump on it the supply chain for this vehicle will be indestructible even in a nuclear war! And the possibilities for this plattform are infinite! There are options with a 120 mm cannon on it, there are options with a fully automated 155mm artillery gun on it, there is a tracked version of it, there is a 35mm airburst AA gun turret for it available! I am a German and i know the importance of this vehicle. So i am happy about every production facility that is set up in another country, because Germany is too small, Great Britain on its own would be too small but many more European Nations and even Australia are enough to create an unbreakable chain of supply to make this the backbone of any army. And with more options like the what i now call, the "Brimstone-Werfer", the plattform becomes even more deadly and more important!
One plus is that the many different companies can devepop boxer modules. In germany alone you have Rheinmetall, KMW and FFH. If a company have an idea or an army a repuirement for a module it can be implemented by every weapon manufacturar with enough know how.

What's left of the attacking mechanized infantry will be mopped up by these very Boxers as well. Autonomous interlinked system shared by the patrol. You could have 3 layers, there is blast screen style APS too. Mini Phalanx, Trophy, Blast screen, Armor.

The sad thing is how much money has been wasted in this and other projects. Pulled out of this half way through the development with the Germans and French, waste cash in another half arsed project and then u-turn and go back into the boxer project.
France dropped out before the UK and before there even was a Prototype. The UK dropped out shortly after the first Prototype. So UK and France both dropped out at a very early stage. Later the Netherlands joined the project, and it was completed.The Boxer has become nearly a complete new vehicle compared to the Prototypes and has been used , tested and improved during different developments throughout diffrent countries including Afghanistan and Mali.

its a waste of energy going up and then having to correct to aim at the target. Better to just align with target and fire so it has maximum range.

I saw a hospital version of one of these, it was the size of 2 semi detached houses.
A 19 km ranged missile seems rather short ranged in light of gun artillery systems and longer range weapons like the MRLS and HIMARS.

Those things could be done by Supacat and the boxer used for the heavy stuff like 155mm auto howitzer, Skyranger and large cannons etc. How much will any of this come to fruition with MODs track record of F’ ups.

The Boxer platform is already tested for years in the German Army, e.g. in Afghanistan.

The sad thing is how much money has been wasted in this and other projects. Pulled out of this half way through the development with the Germans and French, waste cash in another half arsed project and then u-turn and go back into the boxer project.
France dropped out before the UK and before there even was a Prototype. The UK dropped out shortly after the first Prototype. So UK and France both dropped out at a very early stage. Later the Netherlands joined the project, and it was completed.The Boxer has become nearly a complete new vehicle compared to the Prototypes and has been used , tested and improved during different developments throughout diffrent countries including Afghanistan and Mali.
