I stumbled across a Saturday Night's Main Event when I was 8, and I saw the Ultimate Warrior. I was hooked right away. I went to house shows, I watched wrestling every Saturday, I had all the action figures, tons of magazines, posters, foam fingers, home videos and t-shirts. I even had the LOD shoulder pads. Say what you want about Warrior, but back in the day, kids like me loved wrestling because of him.
The Papa Shango dude seems like a straight up real nice guy. Not messed up in anyway with no bitterness, regret or resentment. Probably why he looks healthy and happy.
A lot of the wrestlers we're jealous that he was so over and all he had to do was run out shake ropes and 2 close lines press slam and done. Some of these dudes have text books full of moves and can't get over worth a dame

You’re his fan and that’s kool but understand u speak from the perspective of a fan (we all know fans tend to be bias). Meanwhile they’re speaking from the perspective of having to work with the dude.
All he had to do? That's all he could do. He had a good gimmick, but straight dog sh*t as a wrestler or cutting a promo. If 9 out of 10 wrestlers all say the same thing about him, it's probably true. That's why he wasn't around very long, and that's why rick rude wooped his ass in the locker room.
Warrior definitely had a strong fan base and as a kid I was one of them but statistically no wrestler drove a way more fans under their watch as champion than Warrior did on top. Average attendance for Hogan's 2nd reign(the one he was on when he dropped to Warrior) averaged over 11K a show with him on top. Warrior's reign was 5500, if you took the cards that Hogan was also on off of them that number would be even lower. Warrior headlining with out Hogan was drawing less than 5K in cities like Detroit, Toronto, Atlanta and Dallas just to name a few, in some he couldn't even get 3K in the building. He was working with guys like Rude, Savage and Mr. Perfect so it wasn't like he was in there with nobodies. He killed so many towns as champ that it took over half a decade for many of them to recover.
Besides being a comic book hero, Warrior wasn't much... with his gimmick is was hard to catch a story line... You had to have a New Heel that was evil come in and squash baby faces for a couple months and then have him fight Warrior, but while that is getting heat, Warrior isn't working another story. Warrior would definitely been a great heel.... Running out in Black and red like a jacked up pirate.
I don’t think they any worthy believable opponents during championship run. He had already had a feud with rude. They pushed the dude with undertaker which was great but by then his run was over.

@@gordonirvine726Jealousy is a phony baloney excuse. No one was jealous of Warrior. Even though many wrestlers had negative interactions with Hulk, each one of them to a man was happy if they could be on the same card with him. Why would they be jealous of the Warrior? If the Warrior was over with the crowd, if he sold tickets, then that meant that the other wrestlers got paid more money. Simple as that. Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker were both bigger than The Ultimate Warrior could ever dream of being, and yet you hear nothing but genuine love from their coworkers. Jealousy and fear have nothing to do with it. It’s about respect. Jim was crazy, arrogant, rude, untalented in the ring, dangerous to work with, and an unreliable c*nt.
