So I’m just getting into this kind of music and this band is sick. So is it normal for this kind of music to hold drumsticks backwards? Is it because the fatter end holds up better when going hard as fuck on the drums or does it just produce a heavier sound?

While I haven’t seen it “often” it is obviously preferred by some.
Yes, it is definitely used to produce a heavier/more prominent sound, also because your less likely to dent the head and some just do it so they don’t have to worry about the sticks breaking from pounding so hard, lol!
I first saw it with PanterA’s Vinnie Paul🤘
