This movie is still the most realistic portrayal of the punishment that Jesus endured. Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezal made this a masterpiece.

What's even crazier is even though this is the most accurate portrayal we've seen of Jesus' death, it's nowhere near as brutal as what Jesus actually endured for us.

YHVH appears in the OT in the likeness of a man, Genesis 18, Exodus 3, as a foreshadowing of His glorious coming in the flesh as a man in the NT to be our Kinsman Redeemer. Abraham and Moses did not deny the deity of YHVH because He was in His visible image, in the likeness of a man, but people deny the deity of Christ constantly, which means they have denied the deity of YHVH too. What you do to Christ, you do to the Father also.
I cried like a baby watching that movie. He was amazing.
Just from the previews of this movie I couldn't go see it in the theater. I still haven't seen it. My mind knows it's not really happening on the screen but my heart was/is crushed... Too violent for me!!!

The had never watched this before. a lady i went to church with lent it to me. I hadn't been saved very long, i was a baby Christian. The first time I watched it i fell to the floor beside my couch and hit my knees crying out to the Lord saying "I'm so sorry, i didn't know, I'm so sorry please forgive me" over and over again.
I too sobbed so hard that I got a headache and became congested. Thank you Jesus. 🩷

The sequence of Mary remembering Jesus as a boy falling and she runs to help him and helps him while he's collapsed under the cross and he then says, "See/behold mother, I make all things new" was perhaps the most cry inducing part in that film for me.
I'm looking forward to experiencing the sequel in a movie theater with my mom.

I can't tell you how much I cried during that scene. I didn't stop for at least 10 minutes. If only I can prove to you that I'm a Man who genuinely hasn't cried that much in my life so far but I was absolutely destroyed after that scene

@@countdunkelheit1389I usually don't cry, too. I could, perhaps I should do it more, for one reason or another, because crying can be and has been beneficial for me. I believe there should be a balance with how/when/why one cries. I think crying should be done sensibly/reasonably, but no one should be ashamed of the act of crying itself, necessarily.
Anyway, I remember going to see that movie by myself in a movie theater when it came out. And when that aforementioned scene occured, I began to cry; not just because of what the movie was providing, visually and audibly, but also because of what I was influenced to think about by that sequence psychologically, such as the love of Jesus for his mother and for others, Mary's love for her son, my own mother and how she cared for me, my own troubles, the troubles of others, among other things. So multiple factors influenced me to cry in that moment.
What a wonderful man. The total opposite of the soulless actors in Hollowwood.

I've only been able to watch this movie 2, maybe 3 times. It's so heart wrenching just to see it as movie.. I cant imagine the pain of Mother Mary and the Disciples having to watch her son/their friend and Lord go through it all, real time, real suffering, before their very eyes. It just hurts too much for me to watch it again. I try not to take for granted what Christ really had to go through, just so I [and everyone else] can sin without being utterly terrified of eternal punishment. God is a wonderful father with boundless love for His children.
Jim is an extremely talented man portraying Jesus he is extraordinary.
Jim, you did an incredible job portraying our Lord. This film was criticized for its brutality. What people don't get is the true brutality that Jesus endured was so much worse than the movies usually portray.
You did a fantastic job, and your request to the Father that people only see Jesus and not you were answered. The pain and abuse Jesus endured hit me in the core of my soul. It was heartbreaking trying to watch. It sends an ache into my being I can not even describe. I tear up just remembering. We are so unworthy of the price paid for us by the King of Kings. We can not comprehend the love he has for us. I wish I could have done something to spare him what he went through.
Thank you for the part you played in bringing that reality to our hearts and minds. How I long to see him face to face.

My Sophomore class all went to see this together (it was roughly 100 students filling the theater) and I sat between two of my best friends, Chet and Danny, and all I remember from that day was looking over at each of them when Jesus was beaten and bloody and seeing tears streaming from both their faces as I could not hold mine in either. We all hugged each other during the film and wept after seeing for the first time an accurate portrayal of what Jesus endured for us.

I’ll never forget the silence followed by the sound of people sniffling from crying during the movie. A lady was munching away on popcorn until the beating scene and she suddenly stopped and put her popcorn down and the mood of the entire place shifted to a sense of reverence.
When the words " be hold mother,I make all things new" came out I bursted into hell lot of tears,since then on im living my life only for him.When this cameout in 2004 i was 4rth grade.

I watched this in theaters, cried 6 times, and told myself I'd never watch it again. Such a moving film.

Same for me. I was nearly nine months pregnant with my daughter when I saw this in the theater. I went to the bathroom right after the movie and every one in that bathroom was crying. There were at least 30 of us just standing around shell shocked. No one was speaking. Just tears.

I cry just thinking about that movie. I saw it at the theatre with my dad as a young man. I watched every person there moved to tears.

I remember being a teenager and this movie came out and people were protesting it in the mall that I worked at saying not go see it. I ended up buying it when it came out on DVD pre-order for 20 bucks and I remember watching it and how crazy it seemed. I grew up in scripture so I understood what I was watching, but just the simple act of them putting it on film and really going through the motions was so deeply moving. It is one of my favorite movies even though I do believe people who depict heavenly beings are blaspheming (that is biblical fact) I feel it’s the only accurate depiction of the pain and torture he went through.
I can think of no other actor for the most important role in history than the true believer James Caviezel who embraced and refined this film and role by giving his whole being, soul and pure heart. God bless you all..

I just watched this for the first time today…I’m still in tears. I’m glad I didn’t see it in theaters. When the soldiers turned him over to whip him on the front, I lost it and cried the entire rest of the movie. Satan literally tried everything…it didn’t work. My God, how much Jesus loves us to go through that for us. God bless Jim for being willing to go through all that for us.

Person of Interest was his biggest TV role, excellent series, you get 100+ episodes of him as the hero.

I saw your arm dislocate ,when I got struck in an arbor accident my joint got about 5 inches long and the size of a garden hose , begged god not to lose my arm and my humorous broke allowing my grip to loosen on my saw . 30 plus years later and I'm still healing but GOD has been my only healer . The Doctors managed to screw me up even worse . But I definitely know your pain and even more the power of our lord and the grace and mercy of of our Savior . Shook your hand in Puyallup at the passion. What the lord said to me at the time came true and I had been a landmark in this walk and my testimony. Thank you and Mel for the good fight .God Bless .
