I HAVE ONE OF THIES. IT HAD ROTTEN RUBBER IN IT. I DID NOT HAVE I LARGE RUBBER TO FIX IT WITH, BUT I DID HAVE SOME LEATHER. I PUT IN A NEW OIL SOKED LEATHER ONE. IT WORKS FINE UP TI ABOUT 45 / 50 PSI. GOOD JOB ON YOURS.
Thanks Dave, I actually got the idea from The Posts Apocalyptic Inventor in one of his Repair-A-Thon episodes. It worked really good, so I had to get my hands on one.
While there are several methods, most require chemicals I would not want to recommend them to average house hold users. But I found this after a bit of searching... Silicone spray is usually used as a sealant and is sold in camping stores to restore the waterproofing on tents and clothing, but you can also use it to soften older, stiff rubber. If you have the time to wait for it to work, up to a week this article says, this should help salvage a part that is difficult or impossible to replace otherwise. Really LOVE your methods and skill set. I am quite sure given this compressor, I would not have been successful in the restoration as you were. You seem to have a way of finding the thin path sometimes to getting it back into the original condition when I would have opted for a rather un-original upgrade. Keep it up YOUR way. The results are MUCH better in the end.
Another nice one. I watch your channel for 2 reasons: 1) to see what neat old items you've found to restore, and 2) to listen to the sounds of nature in the background, which is quite calming. 😊
Excellent choice on the steam cleaning!! Look into finding a plasticizer for the rubber parts to soak in. It may be able to rejuvenate some of these parts that are truly NON replaceable in todays time frame. Most older parts like this are made of butyl rubber, as I think it matters when looking for the right plasticizer.
... молодец!-, отличная получилась работа, выглядит как будто новый, осталось только приобрести рессивер и реле давления, удачи во всём, новых творческих успехов, а также здоровья!!!
Hey, another nice restoration pal! I couldn't resist my immature laughter at 22:03 when you hand spun the machine. The suction made those fart like noises lol
I’d like to know how much it’s worth now after the restoration project. I have one and the motor works, it blows a little air but not a lot, being on how old it is , it might be worth something. But, it could be worth more if it’s restored too.
White always makes me nervous on machines, but it's a great piece! Aluminum is so much fun to watch. I'm guessing the green stuff was mold/mildew from condensation?
Nice work! But please find a way to collect the dust of the color from the air sprayer. This is an absolute no go for the environment in terms of microplastic.

I watch quite a few restoration channels and don't think I've ever seen anyone else use a steam cleaner. Great idea !! 👍

amazing white powder coat

I just picked one of these up at a yard sale! I can't wait to restore it. Thank you for the inspiration and showing fine detail. Excellent work!
Glad I could help Kenneth!
my grandma had one without an eletric motor and i put a gas engine on it, now it is truly portable
Well done it seems like the day that was made
Another great restoration. Keeps me coming back for more.
Awesome, thank you!
That's the huge orange balloon 🎈🎈🎈🎈🧡🧡🧡🧡
Nice restore job
Glad you like it
Exellent another great resto

Thank you Ms Kayla, I also love the birds in the background, so many guys tend to complain about it, I love it.
@@AJRestoration birds chirping, rain on a metal roof... It's relaxing. Please keep including it in your videos.
I will never remove any of it, I promise!
@@AJRestoration thank you! 😊
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota

Nice refurbishing project. Look very nice. It would be a great compressor for an air brush setup. Thumbs Up!
I think so too!
Beautiful work!!!! Thank you for the video!

Beautiful job 👍 looks fantastic right down to the new decal. Well done.
Great restoration on an original item!
Hello AJ beautiful restoration good job well done
Thank you Vince!
No balloons were harmed in the making of this vid. No wait, just one.
Just one thankfully hahaha
I love the balloon tests!
My neighbor thought it was a gunshot actually hahaha
Unique sprayer,to think at one time this was modern technology, good video, keep it up and carry on 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Nice job , pretty cool pump . I was saying to myself, the handle is upside down , man the handle is upside down , lol 😆
Hahaha I did turn it the right way up though, in the end.
Bravo, ottimo lavoro fratello, complimenti 👍👍👍
Really awesome job. Love that enamel sprayer too.
Very Satisfying to watch. It looks epic now :)
It did come out great if I have to say so myself!
A next perfect Job and Video Love it 👍❤️👍
Great job
Very nice 👍
Great work!
That was awesome! 💪💪💪
Excellent job bro.
Yes
Great , looks amazing 👍
Thank you buddy, I really appreciate!👍

Hahahah that did sound like a fart!
Valeu AJ!
I have one of these to restore as well....not sure where to get a replacement cap as mine is a bit broken...
Nice cleanup. Would there not originally have been an air filter element under the top cover? Greetings from Alabama.
I live in Alabama too! Excellent restore too. What's the green dust? Paint, rust, or martian bong water?
In hindsight I should have put a small filter in there.
To me it looked like paint build up, it did not smell like mold.

new sub here, just awesome work you're doing!
Thanks and welcome to the family Garrett!
Cool
Missing the round air filter at the top
Шикарная работа

👍👍👍
Good job👌👌👏👏
Can you explain to me the way of painting you use in your restorations?
Powder coating
I enjoy watching this because if I tried to do it. I would strip every other screw, drop it, and use very bad words.
Vídeo top
Amazing Bro 😉 Big Hug
Thanks bro!
Nicely done man. What was all that green powder?
I think it was paint dust from all the years of use. It did not smell or look like mold.
This is the only channel I know of that uses a paint powder gun like that. How does it work?
Puik werk. Wat is volgende?
Baie dankie, ek is nou besig met 'n ou geroesde casserol pot.
Cool stuff. Well shot video too. I'm stuck fixing an Air Command 2cyl. Can't get the butterfly valves after only 20 years. Any advice please?
Those are quite rare, you would be lucky to find spares, you can have a local machine shop try make new parts, or see if EBAY has any.
@@AJRestoration much appreciated thanks. Have tried local dealer and exdealers. No parts. Not tried ebay yet.
Good luck buddy!
Buen trabajo, pero por favor quítate los guantes cuando uses el cepillo eléctrico. Si se engancha te puede llegar a hacer mucho daño.
Donde consigo el filtro por donde entra el aire
White always makes me nervous on machines, but it's a great piece! Aluminum is so much fun to watch. I'm guessing the green stuff was mold/mildew from condensation?
Dry paint dust - as it had no filter, I assume it would have inhaled the paint particles from the spraying?
Baie goeie werk. Ek wonder net soms waar jy onderdele kry vir jou projekte. Hou so aan.
Meeste van die tyd probeer ek oorspronklike parte van die projek te gebruik
Do you know what all of that green dust was on the inside? Was it just rust/dirt?
It seems the unit has no Belt tensioner? Can you add one? Surprisingly quiet for such an old machinery.
I hope you wear a mask when dealing with those moldy things!
Yes, safety is really important.
Very nicely done. Do you live near an airport?
Airforce base yes.
@@AJRestoration Did sound like it...
What base are you near? I knew the sound of a fighter as soon as I heard it. I spent 21 years in the Air Force working on fighters.
That was a old fighter jet here in South Africa known as "The Vampire"
The de Havilland Vampire is a British jet fighter which was developed and manufactured by the de Havilland Aircraft Company.
what's that spray material called ?
19:00 Forgot to put on the air filter‼️
Quelle est la pression de sortie?
Nice work! But please find a way to collect the dust of the color from the air sprayer. This is an absolute no go for the environment in terms of microplastic.
I do plan on building a spray booth wit a filtration system.
diaphragm was installed upside down. Otherwise, great video!
The diaphragm can be installed either way.
I think maybe you should of did something to the rubber.

No no, you’re supposed to intentionally put the handle on worng. That way you get tons of comments 😀
Exactly hehehehe ;-)
I must watch till the end before i comment stupid things... :D :D
You put the handle on upside down.
чувак!!! ручку не правильно прикрутил.
Ballon is all that can be performed very weak air pump or not corectly restored
Paint spraying is about volume of air, not pressure, hence the HVLP you see on today's compressors. High Volume Low Pressure
