Lyrics:
A Senator lady
Got the news one day
The country's being spied on
by the NSA
So she went out defending
on each TV set
but when she found out she'd been snooped on
she got all upset
And isn't it ironic?
I mean, don't you think?
It's like you're at Chris Brown's
and there's punch in the fridge
or if The Bachelor
passed a geography quiz
Learning Ted Kennedy
happened to be good at bridge.
And who would have thought?
It figures.
Senator, this may surprise you
and the irony bites
but Congresspeople ain't the only ones
with 4th Amendment rights
It's like a minimalist
who does their laundry
with All
or if Woody Allen liked to watch
Kids in the Hall
it's like FDR
got locked in a Honda Accord
a cheap healthcare plan
that you just can't afford
If Oscar Pistorius
really hated The Doors
and who would have thought?
It figures.
I heard the government
is sneaking up on you.
Life has a funny, funny way
of calling you out
calling you out.
"Laws for thee, but not for me."
That seems to be the logic of most politicians these days.
What good is it to be a politician if the laws apply to you anyway?
***** Standard racist comment.
or to keep with the 90s theme going.. "Do as I say not as I do because
The shit's so deep you can't run away" - Green Day
***** So far none of your comments make any sense... troll?
It's always how it's been. That's the nature of the state.
Returned to this when I found out Senator Feinstein passed earlier today.
Good news is, doctors say her condition shouldn't interfere with her duties as a Senator.
RIP Senator Feinstein. You're the best kind of politician now.
It took me a little while, but when I realized the Irony of FDR being locked in a Honda Accord, I was dying
I didn't understand it until my 4th time listening to this video.
I don't get it D:
FDR locked the Americans of Japanese orgin up in camps, and in this video FDR was lo
cked up in a Japanese car.
@@usa-israelncr-enclave705 AAAAAH
I loved the poetic justice, and got it almost immediately (but Japanese internment is one of the first things I think of when I think of FDR).
The FDR getting locked in a Honda Accord bit was fantastic!
@EdgarAllanPoo FDR locked up the Japanese in ww2, and here he got locked up in a Japanese car
"It's like FDR got locked in a Honda Accord."
I am dead.
Funniest damned thing ever.
The rest of the Internet now gets to compete for the silver medal.
It's redundant to point out, but Remy is a damn comedic genius. Kudos to him for getting out the message of the liberty movement through such clever means.
I wonder if Remy has a late career ascension like Tucker Carlson in his future.
Sasha Cohen is a comedic genius... this sucks ass.
"Learning Ted Kennedy happened to be good at bridge." - LOLed so hard
I don’t get it
I learned about Chappaquiddick right before listening to this. I LOLed so hard too.
Yeah he was good at bridge in Chappaquiddick
@Josh Turner Josh Turner: correction, he went home to SOBER UP, so he couldn't be accused of causing her death by driving drunk.
And that's WHY he spent several decades in Congress without suffering any consequences: because NOBODY SUSPECTED HE WAS DRUNK, they just were too shocked that he didn't report it. Like you just demonstrated.
Evidently, E. Howard Hunt was hired by Nixon to derail Teddy.
Go Remy! The Weird Al of politics!
if weird al was completely serious in all his humor.
@@doranjones540 Does "all" include the Magic: The Gathering rap?
@@doranjones540 he has party in the CIA and another one that slips my mind at the moment that were pretty funny but not overly political
@@sevendst19His parody of Billy Joel’s For the Longest Time satirizes the TSA, so it’s not very political, but man is it hilarious.
@@doranjones540 Don't forget the extremely serious GoRemy's "Saudis in Audis" !
The only complain I have about Remy is:
He's extremely talented, hilarious, and also bringing attention to such serious issues and NOT VIRAL yet.....
Finding this on the day she died is ironic. Sources report that she died early this morning at the age of 90, the oldest senator we’ve ever had, in office for over 30years in the senate
1:07 "congresspeople ain't the only ones with 4th amendment rights" *holds up only THREE fingers*
I'm not gonna lie, I love a good Oscar Pistorius joke.
Apparently Oscar Pistorius wanted a new bathroom door...But his girlfriend was dead set against it.
Explain that joke to me, something about the doors? I don't know too much about that case
He shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door before dawn on Valentine's Day 2013. Sad.
Thanks, I knew he killed her but didn't understand the doors reference. Geez dude, you have no legs and your dating a smoking model, don't kill her!
Tim Young I also did not understand the joke. I never heard of this Oscar person. I don't watch TV anymore except on demand programs. Hilarious references though.
I've been subbed to Reason for years, how am I only just aware of these. The FDR locked in a honda accord, was the top 3 intelligent rap lyrics I've ever heard. Payday Monsanto would get the other two.
I'm glad he's still making them and I get to go through the old ones. Bravo.
Diane was the worst. Hugely against 2a, almost as socially conservative as a crusty neo-con. Huge war hawk, and a big government social welfare and corporate welfare. She was like the two worst aspects of each party combined.
Nice set of Chinese spies working for her too
"almost as socially conservative as a crusty neo-con." So not socially conservative at all then, correct.
Remy's spending his life having fun. What a life!! He's the best at what he does.
Those ironies! My poor sides. Another amazing set of lyrics, Remy!
Love how you imitated her video with the car scenes. LOVE.
If these Reny videos get any funnier, my head is going to explode. There should be a warning label or something.
Thank you Remy!
Here because I heard the news about the late senator.
Found this vid 7 years later.
Outstanding! Wish I'd seen this 2 years ago when it was most relevant.
Oh, Diane.... what now?
Dunno if anyone else is seeing this, but it's important. I don't know why this song focused on that single senator as all politicians seem to make the same continuous mistake of supporting this intrusion into people's privacy. And leaders in the tech industry as well
I just found the channel, and it is amazing.
Wow! I've listened to Remy's videos for five or six years, but had missed this one. It's good on Remy's usual level, but a bonus is that, unlike Alanis Morissette, he actually understands the meaning of "ironic"!
I''m Shocked, Shocked I Tell You That's There's Gambling Going On Here!!!
From Casa Blanca.
"Warbling"
Me: So that's what you call that.
All these years later, Diane is still in office
I have to question her purported "reasonably well" educated nature.
Turns out it wasn't just the American government spying on her.
On a related note, the scene at 1:01 has a whole new meaning now.
What changed ?
@@BlueTemplar15her "driver" for many years was also a Chinese spy.
This is from the same woman who proposed gun control, but said she needed a carry permit to protect her family.
Today, the CA state Democratic Party opted not to endorse their own senator Dianne Feinstein in the 2018 midterms.
And then I thought of this song and decided to drop by for a listen to celebrate the good news.
But the bitch was still reelected.
Ted kennedy was good at bridge.
I came
Izzy Trollin I saw I conquered
Remy is the treasure most Americans don't know they have. Like Weird Al level treasure.
Since its a Corporation NOT A NATION, for over a 100 yrs now, Isn't it the CSA?
Every Remy video has a zinger, but this one is FULL of them.
Loving all your videos!!!
Came from the future to report the Senator has passed away. It figuresss
And the hits just keep on comin'. Remy: Brilliant, clever and funny as always.
Great song! I really hope these congresspeople see the hypocrisy of their actions and remove the NSA.
Great one Remy.
Brought me back to the 90s.. Awesome!
This aged well
Love this!!
Start of 2020. All these songs are still relevant.
the perfect way to remember Feinstein...may her irony follow her into eternity
Another fantastic representative from California!
FDR got locked in a Honda Accord haha
You're a great singer Remy! Clever lyrics aside
The song only gets better the more you listen to it.
You were untrue to the original ... all of these things were actually ironic.
The original was ironic...
It was a song titled “isn’t it ironic” where none of the examples were ironic.
That in itself is ironic.
That was the point, did... did you not understand that?
@@oscargillette9855 Are you sure that was Miss Morissette's intention?
@@MrHarumakiSensei it wasn't, I googled and in some interview she says she didnd't want to add this song on album but people liked it, and that they didn't think about it too much when recording. Or something. But there is a (modern) video of her parodying herself and saying it's ironic to make song called "ironic" where lyrics are not. "Alanis Morissette Updates 'Ironic' Lyrics"
There are no funny libertarian comics, ... except one: Remy, and he is by far the smartest political satirist in the USA of any stripe. No one else even comes close, unless maybe we want to count John Papola, who's not really a comedian.
Been waiting for some remy reason
Remy, please, In the name of all that is funny, or holy, or benevolent give use more in 2022. We are dying here.
This is great. XD I know it's old but this is still really funny.
I've sung bits and pieces of this song more than perhaps any other in my lifetime
Also lold at Oscar pistorius hating doors 🙈🙈
Best yet!
I bow at the altar of Remy.
Give this guy immediate contract, so talented, i've heard he is an Iraqi origin? But still good work mate.
Awesome.
my only problem with this song is it is too short. absolutely brilliant
Insightful. Should be on Saturday Night Live.
too libertarian.. Saturday Night Live wouldn't touch it unless it was leftist.
The yellow sweater at 1:25 is a classic.
Ouch
This is so fn hilariously accurate that I got a bit teary. (Because of the fuckin obvious of course). I'm actually feeling rather accomplished by even fonding this channel.
Beautiful.
This is Great!!
It didn't surprise me when they sentenced Oscar Pistorius for murder.
He didn't have a leg to stand on.
The ending is great!
a minimalist using all. I about lost it!
Preach the word
Why is this not on spotify??
Woody Allen likes the Kids in the Hall works on at least two levels!
Love this
Thanks Remy for the video. But no thanks for reminding me of that song. Guh.... 90's flashback.
Also Remy I think 3 Chris Brown jokes is enough for one music career.
Still great video :D.
Ozbrithian naww we can never have enough
And now her brain has gone to mush...
Love the song you should go on a tour.
Why go on an exhausting tour of half-empty saloons when you can so easily visit and explore the virtual fecal canals of ReasonTV's virtual fans?
Kizone Kaprow Settle down.
Kizone Kaprow Out of curiosity, how many people have you won over with this combination of persuasive, logical reasoning and irresistably delightful charm?
Who said anything about playing in bars? It also a good excuse to tour the greatest country there is. Ya can give free concerts in parks an stuff. Actually meet and people and make friends. Spread the word Liberty is king.
I'll need an explanation for the Kids In The Hall, I get the rest
Still great 7 years later…..
two thumbs up
Ah, government hypocrisy. Don't you just love it?
So talented and so funny! 😂
I miss remy
🤘
True to the original.
Term Limits! Just like RGB, died clutching the pearls of power. Of course now Gov Useless gets to hand select the replacement. What could possibly go wrong?
Comedy genius, Remy.
Not sure I understand the Oscar Pistorious one. I didn't follow that trial.
He shot through (or at) the bathroom door while his girlfriend (or an intruder) was inside.
. .and Diane's replacement Is ?....... ........
Genius!
Do as I say, not what I do.
Someone explain to me FDR getting locked in a Honda Accord.
its a reference to americans of japanese descent getting put into internment camps during ww2
moshe cohen Because they are all morons.
moshe cohen Yea, I don't get that one either but I have never seen the show so that's not so surprising. I don't think it is simply that they are dumb, but rather something more specific like asking in what part of Canada is Detroit or something along those lines.
Keegan Idler No, its because they are dumb. If the other jokes aren't that complex or complicated neither is that one. But since you didn't understand the FDR one...
FDR had Japanese-Americans taken to Interment camps for the duration of WW2. They weren't treated particularly badly or anything, but it was obviously wrong. And Honda is a Japanese company
I don't understand the Oscar Pistorious hating the doors connection.
he shot his girlfriend through a door, that was his excuse for not knowing it was her
@@sevendst19 Thanks, now that makes sense...🤣
@@ELCLAVE300 haha yeah, I don't get the bachelor geography quiz thing but idk anything about the bachelor prior to meeting my wife. I've tried to look it up but I can't find anything that would explain the joke
And now she's a basket-case.
Dianne Feinstein has a Bachelors degree in History. How is she educated in Constitutional Rights?
Also Felicia Cravens how'd we miss this?
I hang my head in shame for missing this.
He went for irony rather than just chance situations that suck.
that's what makes this comedic gold even after all this time
remy D:< y did you come here you had more subs on your channel and was so much more fun D:
the last line was fire lmao
