This otherwise EXCELLENT video includes one BLATANT lie. It shows our hero/victim getting a "thank you" letter from the feds for paying his taxes. Over the years, I've had a LOT of contact with both the IRS and the CA Franchise Tax Board (which is even worse). To date I've yet to receive my first "thank you" note. LOT of OTHER notes, of course, but no "thank you." I'm crushed.
Government: Okay there's an exact sum you owe us in taxes. Citizen: Ok how much? Government: We aren't telling you. Citizen: So I pay how much I want? Government: No if you make a mistake we'll put you in jail or take your house. Citizen: Can't you just tell me how much do I owe? Government: Lol no.
They would have been disappointed that the government is as big as it is! Millions of laws and regulations, kilotons of taxes and beaurocracy, militarized state thugs, etc, not a recipe for a free country!

I mean a tax by any other name is a tax. Just like theirs a lot of of ways to describe getting screwed, but it all is the same thing. On that note, in my state its a little over a quarter of the year, that I work, If I did the math right.. for basically taxes (state and federal combined). It's flipping disgusting. It really is. I'm a young guy... (well I'm not old yet" anyways, and I think.. "This is what I have the rest of my life to look forward to? and its only going to get worse from here? yay #sarcasm "
How about 70%? Income 12% + pension 2% + social security 35% + VAT 20%. And that's without import duties, when you want to buy a foreign good of a decent quality. Welcome to Belarus.
the me Uhhh…”10 times better”? You do realize that the US has the best quality of care in the world right? The main issue we have here is cost. Premiums are too high and so are deductibles. But most of that is because the market is over regulated to the point that only large corporations can survive as insurance providers.
1/3rd? Pfft, here in the UK we spend 40% if you're in a good middle class job. And that's on income only, not counting national insurance, council tax, etc...
But you get more for your money. Like shipping North Carolina wood pellets to the Yorkshire power plant, to meet "renewable" guidelines. Granted, it takes 100 years for those trees to grow back, but still...
In Germany you pay 20% VAT on everything you buy, no matter how poor you are. So basically it starts at 10-20% already. Up to 41% income tax on top of that. Add special taxes on 'luxuries' (like about 100% on energy), and you can easily end up with 2/3 of your money 'lost' to the government. And here that does not include the Health insurance costs. Don't know if that is already included in the UK.
Just think what a wonderful life it would be if there was no tax. No filling out forms keeping receipts. Buying things would so much cheaper. Starting a business would be fun. Hiring people in you business would take no effort. Maybe you could do a song on that? .

Taxes should not be based on income or purchases of any type. There should be no exceptions, deductions, etc. Taxes should be used to internalize negative externalities. It is acceptable to charge individuals based on how much they pollute the air or water. When it is not easy to determine how much each victim was harmed by the pollution, then the funds should be distributed to everyone evenly. It is also acceptable to tax them for the privilege of excluding others from equal access to land. Homesteading never actually justifies true ownership of natural resources, only of the products of human labor. Limiting others' access to land is justified so long as is necessary to secure possession of the valid property, but even then only so long as there is enough and as good left for others to homestead upon and thus no non-negligible harm done by the exclusion. That is almost never the case in the real world, particularly in densely populated areas. When the Lockean Proviso is violated, it is unfair to monopolize land without providing compensation to those denied equal access to nature. In a primitive small community this could be handled by private charity or something like the biblical gleaner's rights, but in advanced societies it is far more practical to have one organization collect land value taxes. Those funds could then be used to provide public goods, but it is more fair to just distribute the money on a per capita basis and then let the market provide most if not all other services.

just try and not pay it if your income is in the top 40%, it may be unconstitutional but that will not stop the Government from putting you in jail, or just taking your money by force! so much for voluntary!
When held up at gun point by a mugger, most people consider giving up their wallet and keeping their life a good deal. The fact that the mugger has no legal standing for his demand doesn't make your action of handing over your wallet voluntary in any true sense. But sure, in the same sense that giving the mugger what he demands may be considered voluntary, taxes are voluntary.
