Came back from Vietnam in September and I didn’t want to leave. The food and vibe there is next level.
Couldn’t agree more!
Couldn’t agree more!
How true went there for our wedding banquet drank Lot of beer with ice blocks lol
The honeys didnt want me to leave either. They were fascinated by my good looks and plus im a Big tipper. 😎
@@davidkhai did you see the BIG RAT passing by at the COM TAM BA GHIEN in your video ?
There is something so special about Vietnam. Seeing you on the motorbike reminded me of how much I need to go back. I love Vietnam 🇻🇳 and when you are traveling around the country. Thanks David!
Hope you get to visit again! I absolutely love it here
Looks amazing😍❤❤ love your videos❤❤keep it up with😊
Final verdict: the first one as well. Thanks for another great video, David.
Both looked good, but Cơm tấm Ba Ghiền does not have a Michelin star, it got a BIB Gourmand mention which means good quality and good value - but it's a far cry from a Michelin star
I believe there are four restaurants in VN with a Michelin star. But you're definitely not getting $170K VND value meal. 😉
True this year there were 4 Vietnamese restaurants awarded with a star, youtubers mostly do not know anything about the Michelin plates meaning (some just want clicks), though just going to the Michelin website clarifies it all. 😇
If you’re being pedantic. The Bib Gourmand is an award, not a mention 😉
too expensive!!! $145,000 just the plate of com tam, you can have 4,5 orders of rice from other places which tastes good too
@@jenniferphung3650 totally agree! $70K-80K will get you great value. Just follow your nose? 😂
Glad your back in vietnam. The vietnam vlogs are the best!
HELL YEA BRO! Happy to see you back. We need more VN Adventures bro. 🍻🍻👍👍
Much more to come!
So so yummy! My fave ❤❤❤ Love the video! Xx
More than $2. But I remember when I visited Vietnam back in 2011 the com tam was around $0.50 cents on the streets. I'm surprised it cost nearly $2 USD now. Inflation in Vietnam is definitely high. I mean a big Mac cost like $5 back in 2011. Now I think it's probably like 7 bucks which means it increased by %40 compared to nearly %300.......sheeshhhhh
The country has grown quite rapidly economically no doubt
With Covid and the rising costs of everything, $2 is still cheap. It cost $16 for me to get that here in Southern Cal
@@callenguyen1119 Damn that's even more expensive than one in Melbourne, Australia
Same dish in Ottawa, Canada now is around $18.
I've enjoyed this rice dish before and it's great
Looks delicious 😋
looks amazing! can't wait to try. Can you provide a list of top 10 must eat places in HCM? heading end of year and keen :)
Honestly food is good anywhere in Vietnam whether it have high google reviews or the local street food. The few food videos I have in Vietnam are all pretty good and locations should be in the description.
Otherwise check out Max McFarlin on UA-cam, he’s the goat of HCM street food
Not skipping a second of this so I know what Viet phrases I need to brush up on before heading to Saigon
Welcome back to Saigon bros great job 🎉😮
Every component in Com Tam combined perfectly with all the flavor and texture ! Cơm tấm everyday for me 👍🔥💯 !
David, Ba Ghien is Michelin Bib Gourmand, not a Michelin star restaurant. Currently, there is only 1 Michelin-star restaurant in HCMC, AnAn Saigon; and I don't think they even deserve it. Also, Ba Ghien is not worth it, been there. The little old lady down the alley from me sells better com tam for 50k, LOL... However, Ba Ghien is super crowded, w many tourists; prob since tourists look to the Michelin guide for guidance. I too did when I was a tourist b4, I'm more local now 😄
Hi there, Ba Ghiền don't have a Michelin star they're only listed in the HCMC Michelin guide. You need a lot more than that to attain Michelin star status...
Best wishes and stand stronger furthermore
For sure I will go to the cheap one. Don’t think it worth it for the other one! It was too much….
Your Vietnamese is very good 👍
I envy you watching from the states! 🤤
So delicious
I'm a Vietnamese your fan . We love you
Hola David, ¿Cón qué modelo de cámara grabas los vídeos? MUY BUENOS VÍDEOS. MUY BUEN CONTENIDO
Go Pro Hero 10
I bro, I met you yesterday. Your videos are amazing ❤
Good to meet you brother 🙏
Why do I torture myself watching food videos from VN at night?
😂
HELLO DAVID🙂👍💪❤
I'm actually surprised you don't tip when you go out to eat at these places. You're "Việt Kiều" after all. I'm not a big tipper but if I'm happy with the customer service or if the food is great, I'd tip because people over there work hard to earn $$$ and they'll remember you if you tip them. Also you can't be going around Vlogging speaking English then order stuffs in Vietnamese but when you paid she told you total 45,000 VND, and you gave her 50,000 VND but you still wanted your changes back omg. I don't know about you but if people know that you're "Việt Kiều" they know you have $$$ so be generous a lil, you're from Australia after all. If you don't speak English when vlogging then it's a whole different story. I'm dead bruhhhhh 😅 I do like your channel though ❤
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I spend majority of my time in Vietnam now so I’m a local, I’m not just here on holidays like most people who visit. I can’t be tipping every single time.
Hi khai your back in vn? How was it? Is it good?
I was Vn, and always love it
yummy
Nice to come back to Saigon. Why don’t you ever do a live stream to celebrate your mini-milestones of subs?
They’ve never really intrigued me as much, I just like trying to make better videos. But maybe I’ll change my stance one day :)
I came back my hometown after 9 years vietnam better than before
Definitely changed alot!
They are on Michelin guide, not Michelin star. Two very different achievements but nonetheless awesome looking food!
Though you were speaking English in front of the vendors they knew they couldn't rip you off because you speak fluent Vietnamese and can blend in with the locals that is why you paid a dollar in some change for that street food meal. If you don't speak Vietnamese and look non- Asian brace yourself to pay double for that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can you imagine charging people based on the way they look in America? All hell is going to break loose 😂
@@sonder007all the time. Go to a jewelry store in NYC and see for yourself.
Các bạn về Việt nam ăn cơm tấm , bình dân rẻ và ngon đấy ok
new subscriber. Viet/Aussie represent lol.

Hey mate..why back to Saigon? Mooncake festival? Take care and have fun!
Had to visit for personal reasons, and decided to film too :)
Ya man! I always finds a reason to go back to where I wanted to revisit! Saigon is always a haven for me..
❤ Vietnam
I ate here recently...to be clear, they don't have a Michelin Star ... it's a Michelin Guide listing that's all (not sure how this was judged or paid for. Way too much packed on to the plate, meat was too chewy...not impressed, not to mention expensive for Vietnam prices. I had a nuch better Com Tam in Q1 - Com Tam Di Ut ... fantastic check it out guys.
Hair transplant looks good brother!
🟣 I never leave any food on the plate 🟪 it’s disrespectful to the farmers and the chefs 🟣
“A rat” it’s ok, it’s normal. I’m dead 😂
Legit normal 😂
Give me the $1 everyday
Nhìn anh ấy ăn mà thèm quá.Bạn đang nhớ về những ngày ở VN được ăn những món ăn ngon rẻ như thế phải ko?
Are you going to do a meet and greet in Saigon?
Not any time soon
the second place was a rip off imo, i'd eat 4 plates of the first com tam to 1 serving of the second for the similar price
I’d prefer the 4 plates too!
145k jesus. The price wasn't stated on the menu I would be so shocked
Definitely on the more expensive side, but you get so much you can barely finish it
Message if you want to get some eats together when you're in HCMC. I'm out eating and filming a couple times a week. 🎉
45,000 Vietnam đồng equals around $2.25us dollars
It’s $1.85 usd
It’s a $buck.85
👍✅🍌✅👍
I am headed to Vietnam next week, can I join you on your traveling? Where will you be around the 13th?
I won’t be in the country then unfortunately, but I’ll still have videos coming out. Enjoy your trip!
7$ is probably not worth it, but there are a lot of customers, so it's probably good.
You’re full for ages, so on that side it’s pretty good
Are you traveling to these places alone?
For the majority of the time yes
Việt nam hay campuchia thế
I MISS SÀI GÒN 😭😭😭
I think it’s a Michelin Guide bro
Indeed the vibes are great. I mentioned that I'm also in HCM, and wanted to see if you were open to meeting up. As I'm also interested in UA-cam and wanted to see if you were open to joining forces
I’m not currently in HCM at the moment unfortunately, but perhaps in future once I head back
I love the way you pronounce "nhon và ghẻ" (ngon và rẻ). So cute though 😊
My family makes fun of me for that too 😂
Àn nhon han sê ô 🤣
@@davidkhai For the word “ngon”. Just say the word “singer”. Then say “singer” without the “si”. Now with the word “nger”, replace the “er” with “on”.
Damn I think Chonny went here on one of his VN vlogs
Damn would be cool to bump into him
I had no idea you spoke Vietnamese 😭 did you speak it since childhood or only learned it as an adult?
Since I was a child, it’d be so hard to learn it now haha
45k is $2
👍♥️🇺🇸
Seeing the huge rat running by was shocking. Anyways, my fav viet dish would be banh cuon and/or banh beo. Love the glutinous rice dishes (dim sum rice rolls, chow fun).
Once you visit you’ll see there around quite a bit 😅
Hello are you still living in Vietnam now?
If you are we like to meet you am living in Vietnam now
Not at the moment unfortunately, but still have videos to come out
Okay can I ask a question?
How can someone get a job here?
Về VN rồi hả e trai.nhớ đồ ăn VN rồi phải ko?😊
Yes I always miss Vietnamese food!
The michelin place uses too much sugar with the meat. But thats just my taste
It was a tad sweet for me too, definitely would go for the street food one
R u Nhi’s brother?
c.Van son?
@8:43, so good rat wants some.
Facts
its not michelin star its called " bib " so its a recommandation from michelin not a star
Bro, where do you go to change your AUD for 45k? Last few trips we couldn’t even get 16k for an Aussie dollar 😂
P.s. If you’re still in HCMC check out Cơm tấm An Dương Vương in District 5 if you haven’t already
I think rate I get is around 15.5 which is pretty spot on haha
Why are you alway stay over Southeast Asia , when are you going back home ?
I think I will live in South East Asia that’s why
Catch lil jerry and put him in the fryer
😂 Where’s Tom
Tiếng việt đi bạn.
How are you going to eat 2 different places of com tam in one day? You will be very full. You should wait til the next day.
I just make sure I hit the gym and walk at least 2 hours haha
The Duma Con Di will prevail.
lol $7 USD for that plate is ridiculous.
Crazy value
Broken Rice tasted weird
Damn that’s a first
Can’t be the taste. It’s just your average white rice broken into fragments. Maybe it’s the texture that you’re not used to. Though at time, they do cook the rice with some pandan leaf, so maybe that might be the case.
Ghiền not ghiên lol
As in addictive 😛
😅😂
My dude... how is a grab moto biker can afford to eat at a Michelin star restaurant 😂😂😂... dude makes like $10 a day before expense
You never know 😅
“Oh my gosh, a RAT!”. “Oh my gosh, no diệt nam for me!” 😂😝🤣
😅😂
Hahaha, rats like the food.
michelin with rats /..??? no thanks
Vietnam comes with rats unfortunately
After the running rat I think Michelin might take away the star. so, you better deleted it.
They’d have to delete all of Vietnam then haha
Geeez man.....that huge ass rat just randomly running along the entrance 😨
That’s Vietnam for you man
And many Asian countries. I had a gigantic cockroach crawl across my plate in Hong Kong.
The husband and wife have helmets but not the kids who are more fragile. Typical Viet mentality 😂
exactly how bad is the rat situation in Vietnam?
It’s common to see them 😅
@@davidkhai That is gross and disappointing.
Michelin star or not, seeing a huge rat scurrying through the food preparation stations is a huge turnoff.
If you come to Vietnam it will be a regular occurence 😅
@@davidkhai
Seems like it since none of the locals even bat an eye 😂
Back here in the States, the health department would immediately swooped down and close the place.
Brave of you to chow down on cooked meats that have been sitting around in the heat of Saigon for hours.
You’re either lucky or have an iron stomach not to have contracted food poisoning.
I love Saigon and have visited the city several times, but I draw the line on where I eat since I don’t want to spend days of my
precious vacation on the porcelain throne.
@@didierduplantier8359I reckoned you don't live in NYC.😂 all kidding aside, it's how trash are placed on curbs that will inevitably attract rodents. India, NY, most SE Asian countries all place their trash curbside, no bins.
Well they do not have a Michelin star to tell the truth though ✨
Did u get a hair transplant
I did brother
Where looking good
Did it hurt
This was such a clickbait! How’s that a Michelin star?? And the pork barely touched your lips when you act like it was so delicious! Get out of here man!
david khai , em co coi kenh nay chua , hoods N hollers . kimgary , our 50 states

michelin deez nutz, people dont even finish their plates there
It’s honestly so hard to finish it due to the serving size rather than taste. I was in a food coma after wards haha
