Not a fan. I get that Mazda is small and they cannot afford to design lots of different types of categories within a model like Honda and Toyota do, but they're missing a lot of customers by not at least trying to field a more rugged "trail" type model. I mean, seriously, even Nissan realized that they had to butch up the feminine looking Pathfinder by creating the Rock Creek Edition. Mazda has gone all in by making all of their SUV's pretty much the same. But making the CX-70 and 90 the same price doesn't make much sense for 70 buyers. You're actually paying a premium NOT to have the 3rd row and extra space.
Inline engines have never been about power. Their main advantage is balance, refinement, smoothness and typically easier to work on when compared to a V6. By design, it will probably be more robust and last longer as a turbo charged engine than your typical V6 as well. This engine makes perfect sense in a more luxury oriented driver and I think Mazda did a good job at compromising to get refinement with decent HP and torque out of this type of engine in this size of vehicle. One thing I'm curious about is how hard the rear two spark plugs are going to be to replace. Typically inlines are easier to work on, but this is not transversely mounted.
Very nice vehicle with a premium look but the ancient infotainment system with 'part time' touch screen is a dealer breaker. And what's with the overly ambitious screen size spec of 12.3 inches? As an owner of the Honda Passport, I like bigger 2 rows in the market. But I like my Passport more since it seems it's more off-road capable than this while still having a better street driving feel than a true off-roader.
I think the CX-70 is more luxury focused and not off-roading. You really don't have much of a choice with interior colors with any Honda product. I have owned 4 Hondas and the Honda Passport is the pick of the litter in the Honda lineup.
The Honda is also 6" shorter which makes it fitting into garages easier. My biggest grip is that at 200" there is not much room to walk around the car once the garage door is closed let alone open the tailgate.
One thing Mazda has got going for it is customer support
Get a Grand Cherokee. You can have off road ability and a touch of luxury.
@@byronlarson5534 and worst and industry reliability and headaches to boot!!
Its nice but I’d rather spend my money on a Chevy Tahoe.
Go for it. I doubt many if any will cross shop this CX-70 with a Tahoe unless you are Mormon.
They hit the nail on the updated exterior and interior trim upgrades, then they sabotage the entire CX 90 and delete the 3rd row then rename it. Such a disappointment. Mazda, we need the 2nd row bench in the highest trims for the CX 90 with the same trims of your so-called CX 70. I just went in the showroom 2 days ago only to leave frustrated because the styling of the CX 70 hits all the marks but doesn't fulfill the seat requirements. And use the max seating and upgrades for the highest trim levels for the CX90 PHEV for 2025!
Looks nice.
Why do I see BMW X3ish design)
This is a copy of the BMW X3 M40i. Should be nice! I love my M40i…. Great vehicles
its actually much larger in all dimensions
@@markdiloreto9042 dimensions like the X5 then.
@@Darthlichtusmore like x7 sized. With the space of an X5.
More luxurious than Toyota or Honda. But not as much room, economy, or reliability as either.
3.3 turbo with 280 hp? Torque number is good@360+ but wheres the hp. I drive a 2020 sorento with a 3.3 v6 with 290+hp na and the turbo version of that motor is 365 hp. A 3.0 bmw is 375 hp and stellantis,s 3.0 inline is 420 hp and they also have a H.O. with 520. Come on Mazda.
Next time drive to Idyllwild! Very winding road, plus super pretty & Temps in PS can be 110+ while 1 hour away in the Mt.'s it can be a cool 75! Could also hook ya up with a friend who currently owns Bob Hope's home in PS. Can't miss look up highest home & gargantuan! As far as the car, I vehemently hate Bezos as much as Musk. Does Mazda not use Google? Bc that would be a major NO for me. Otherwise seriously pretty. Much like ... well yah 😂
Mazda’s have never been on my radar.
Save yourself some time, its a cx90 with no third row and a bench. Anything else can be changed by the owner.
17kwh battery and only 26 miles of all electric driving? isn't rule of thumb usually 2-3 miles/KWh?
You would think...Teslas are getting 4+ miles per kw.
@@brianb5723But Tesla isn't making a PHEV. Not a good comparison.
Having owned 2 Mazdas, I love them... and I'm seriously eyeing this car...HOWEVER... can we please stop shrinking the rear hatch window and making the taillights narrower and sharper looking? The front of this car is a dream, but the rear is increasingly a mullet... more 2015 era CX-5 and less of whatever this is, please! The front is fabulous though!
Mazda went too far with the build of this straight 6 it is far to complicated and would be a nightmare for repairs .something to consider.
Can you mute the audio when speaking the trigger words "Alexa" & "Google" in your videos. All of the devices just woke up trying to set the thermostat to 70 degrees. Thank you.
😂
Still no BMW X3/4 M40i.
Not a fan of the 2 tone steering wheel!...90's gaudy.
60k?????????
$60, 000 is too much.
Cx70 or Passport?
The problems is any 3 row can be a 2 row, so who cares? lol
MAAAAAZDA.......stick with REGULAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.....
Glad you said it!
I like the exterior color. The interior color should be black. Also Mazda has not resolved its transmission issues.
What transmission issues?
Another flop from mazda for the US market..cx90 with a 3rd row delete,,they are gonna lose customers it they don't bring smaller hybrids..with more tech features like the competition.
Love it
kase 🔥
Cx90 I understand, but this car makes no sense
Makes sense to me. Two rows and plenty of storage is more than enough for me.
@@davidanderson-22 Same Price as CX90, and you can fold down the seats.
Makes more sense for anyone with 2 kids or less
@@thomas735 As they cost the same, in the case you are making what does the cx70 do that the cx90 doesn’t. If you fold the rear seats you get the exact same car. You’re literally paying the same for less.
And as you said 2 kids or less the bench seat isn’t even needed…
@@rmartin987 this has more storage and cargo capacity because those extra seats aren’t taking up room.
That road noise is terrible!
Keeling Loop
Screw alexa and all that spyware.
I’ll rather get the Lincoln Nautilus
Made in china
@@JaketheSnake-lz1pq i know, I bet the quality is better than American made Lincolns. American company paired with Chinese workforce equals great product just like the Iphone
I was looking to like the dashboard but to get a sunroof 5 to 10k more
Those power figures are very disappointing for the inline 6
Looks about the size of two horizontal iPhones side-by-side. I have a "smaller" diagonal measured screen in my car but it actually has much more useful screen real estate than others. I guess there's no useful standard of measurement used by manufacturers. Perhaps reviewers and manufacturers (gasp!) should include square inches or square centimeters for the sake of transparency. Whatever. Nice review though. Thanks!
Its not all new!!!!!!
I liked it til I seen the infotainment screen. 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
