Since 2018 I have owned 3 ND Miatas, a Mazda6 Signature, a CX-9 GT, a CX-5 Turbo and a CX-5 Signature. They have all been great vehicles. I have also owned Lexus, Acura and Infinitis and Mazda is on par or better than those brands at a price more in line with Honda, Toyota and Nissans…..and no CVTs in any Mazda!
I got my CX-70 PHEV Premium last Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024. I have a new-for-2025 (and also for now, exclusive to the CX-70) Melting Copper Metallic color. I still had to special order it from Japan, because most in-stock CX-70s in my state of Colorado had black leather (on Premium) or Nappa leather (on P. Plus) int whereas I wanted a “Greige” int. (GREy+beIGE) in my vehicle. It’s a sweet combo, esp. the best if you’re not springing for the tan (😅with Alcantara microsuede) or dark red Nappa leather choices of the Premium Plus package. The Premium package includes all the options in which I was a little bit interested: panoramic moonroof/sunroof w/sunshade, heated and ventilated 12-way power seats, heated and power adjustable steering whe 0:00 el, 12-speaker Bose stereo surround, etc. And finally, I leased through Mazda Financial Services, so as to qualify for $7,500 in Fed./CO state incentives + $1,500-$2K in brand rebates
Mazda automotive design is arguably one of the most beautiful, classy, timeless designs next to the beautify of Italian minimalism, that is available in this price segment. The inline six cylinder engine achieves a standing ovation! First and foremost most if not all manufactures are moving away from six cylinders to four cylinders. So just the fact that Mazda is making available a six cylinder is exciting. Add to that it's a straight six cylinder as it offers several advantages over the V6 configuration. The inline six allows for inherit primary and secondary balance offering smoother operation and vibration compared to V-6. The firing order and reciprocating masses of the inline six naturally counteract each other eliminating the need for counter balancing shafts. Inline-six have a more straightforward design with a single cylinder head and fewer moving parts, making them generally easier to manufacture and maintain. When it comes to interior quality, upholstery, fit and finish, Mazda is notches above the closest competitor in this segment/price. Very classy, thoughtful interior design. Meticulous fit and finish in this price range. The interior design is timeless, and classy and quality close to, if not at or above a Porsche without the exorbitant price, and with Japanese quality and reliability. I truly believe that if properly maintained, and well-cared for I could see this CX providing many years and many hundred's of thousands of miles of pleasureful ownership.
It’s quite interesting to read two takes on Mazda car: this writer reads like Mazda add. on this car. Other people, who tested this vehicle said “hard plastic inside, cheap looking, in this price range inexcusable”. There you go…!
I was drawn to the CX-90 due to the inline 6. But they don't really offer the hood space for such a long engine. This is the drawback of the inline 6. The rear 2 cylinders are difficult to access. Similarly, like other automakers they have filled the engine compartment with other stuff. So even though it's an inline-6, things can still be difficult to get to.
Yesterday, I was getting a routine service done on our 2023 rhodium white CX-5 Sig and made the mistake (not really) taking test driver a CX-70 Turbo S Premium. I went home with the rhodium white CX-70. It's that good 😊 Last year I test drove a CX-90 and, well, kinda hated it. Transmission was not good and all and the start stop feature made things much worse. It handled and accelated well but it felt like a step down to our CX-5 Signature. Mazda has truly worked miracles with the transmission and overall smoothness. Being empty nesters, what we've always wanted was a CX-5 Signature that had more cargo space. We got what we wanted and then some.
@@lornestein7248 that's what I thought. Until I drove the 70. WOW! I got used to the feeling the extra weight brings very fast. I think it out handles the CX-5 and, if you can believe this, it's getting better fuel economy than our CX-5 did. Same driving routine. I didn't think the CX-70 could beat our Signature for refinement. It does by quite a bit. It's that good. Almost forgot. The insurance of our CX-70 is nearly $300 (Per year) less than the CX-5 😁
So glad for your handling comment. I have a 2024 CX-5 Turbo. I don't really like the handling, it hops. And I don't like taking the headrests off to put down the 2nd row to carry the dog for a walk. But iCX-70 has a panoramic roof and I had 2020 Acura MDX with a panoramic roof that leaked. I didn't realize it for 3 years, I had to open up the spare tire area and there it all was.
Took a CX-70 for a test drive. Interior and exterior looked great. Controls were easy to use. But ... the ride was stiff and I felt every bump ... definitely not what I was expecting. Ended up driving a CX-50 ... had the features I wanted, room was good for our use, and the ride was super comfortable. Ended up with the CX-50.
Yes, you can even see in this video how it bounces around and I didn't hear anything from him complaining about it. Mazda Cx-60 was forced to change the shock absorbers and then became 40-50% better. But you still get a nodding effect and the biggest problem is still in the back. A shame for an otherwise good car. But comfort is so important, I think I would not buy this.
You sold me on the CX70. We have a 2021 CX-9 and we love it. It’s the first car that awakened my wife’s interest in cars. I love the new Land Cruiser and have considered getting one but the CX-70 gives you a lot for the price and it’s a nice looking car.
Thanks for the review and I have to completely agree with you. I got my CX70 Turbo S Premium Plus a week ago and it's just INCREDIBLE in all the ways you've described. It's beautiful. Luxurious. Powerful. And it just feels so well planted on any road I've driven on thus far. I never thought I'd be a Mazda owner, but they've so upped their game that after comparing them to Lexus, BMW and other luxury brands, the CX70 does more for way less than they do.
Just passed 1000 miles on my 70. Its exceeded my expectations. Its just such a solid performance vehicle. Quiet, smooth and so well built. Never gave Mazda a thought before... if they keep this up my next vehicle will be a Mazda too. Buy it, you'll really like it. Melting Copper, PP 3.3 Turbo. Zoom Zoom!
@luckemi I did a 500 mile round trip. Didn't get butt drag. Like the lumbar and multiset seat positions. Particulalry like the seat fans. Best though....is the way it rides the road. Smooth, solid and then hit that 340hp turbo... 5k lbs of zoom zoom
@@scottcrowley3509 that’s nice. I am asking because I had a CX5 for 3 years and those were the worse seats I’ve ever set in. The CX9 wasn’t any better. Those seats were extremely narrow. Curious to see if the sitting area is wider. Have a forester now and the seats (and overall car) was an upgrade to CX5. Wonder how the CX70 is - love the design.
@luckemi I'm 5 10 and weigh 215. Had a Frontier which was Soso for comfort. Much better now. Have to say it's just relaxing to drive the 70. Have the PPT...it'll get up go too.
With current Yen Currency Exchange Rate 1 CAD$ ≈ 110+ Yens; last twenty years has been around 85-95 = Consumers buying a Mazda and or Subaru Made in Japan = will have saved 15-20% ─ that is about the same extra cost we have to pay for a Toyoda and/or Honda Made in Canada. Our Extended Families own Mazda MVP Van and other Mazda and Subaru Made in Japan and they were $5k less cost than a Toyoda Siena ... The MVP driven us to California and Vancouver and last 15 years before we handed down to relative In-law... with no major problems. @marcgeu . I'm in Your Camp about checking out the various Forums before taking the Plunge. I have purused a Mazda forum and have found some issues posted - mostly though with the CX-90 PHEV. My 22 MDX Adavnace lease has expired - I just extended it for 6 months, giving me certain options : 1) either buy it now for $38,500 ending the lease extension; 2) pay the 6 months at the same $610 monthly payment and Buy it for $35,400 in February; 3) lease another Acura (preferable one is a 25 MDX A-Spec Advance [the Type S is just too expensive at $76K],; 4) I was considering a Down grade to the new 25 RDX A-Spec Advance , however, IO was saddened to learn that Acura kept the Touch Pad InfoT. system which makes that consideration a distant 3rd; 5) Buy or lease another model like this 25 Mazda CX-70 (being retired at 73 yo, I don't need a 3rd Row) being enticed by the Premium Plus Turbo S model which has equal HP & Torgue to the MDX Type S for nearly $15K Less.
Since my 20’s always owned Toyotas then moved up to Lexus, i am 62 now, i still own 2 Lexus models, but now looking at Mazda especially CX-50 or CX-70; need to replace one of my Lexus (ES350) still keeping my RC350awd F Sport 😊 …. Love what Mazda is doing 👍🏻
I’ve owned Honda, Toyota and now Subaru since the 90s. But I have to say, Mazda always seems like the most aesthetically pleasing. I’m partial to Subaru because of its awesome AWD system, but man I’d like to drive one of these CX70s. No hybrid for me, n/a or turbo is my choice. Thank you for the video.
@@mbenton6 Oh hell no you didn’t go there. Lol Lookup Subaru vs any other Japanese car manufacturer competing on off road and rough terrain obstacle courses. Subaru’s fantastic symmetrical AWD system always comes on top. The only other ones I’d deem worthy of the title are Audi’s Quattro AWD and Jeep. Like I said, lookup some videos and see for yourself.
Beside AWD, Subaru design, still stuck in 2000s. This much complication of CX90 and 70, will hurt long term reliability. All other Mazda models are reliable.
@@Mike_44 Subaru has become a cvt-centric, laurel-resting, bland AF brand. It pretty much started dying for the car enthusiast when it left the WRC in 2009. It has some god-awful packaging nowadays. And I've owned a few...(2002 WRX MT, 2003 Impreza Wagon TS, 2003 WRX MT, 2005 Wagom RS, 2012 Forester MT, 2014 Forester XT, 2016 Forester MT)
@@RJ-vc2ju Yeah.. can’t argue with that unfortunately. If there’s one thing I dislike is that whining CVT. Long gone are the days of the awesome 4EAT transmission. That’s why I tend to like early to late ‘00a Subies better, even with their dreaded H/G issues and all. Long live the ‘04-‘07 STi era.. that’s when Subaru was still loyal to its fan base.
We’ve gotten so use to David doing these panel gap measurements that we’ve become desensitized with the results….this is the exception. Even more reason to buy a Mazda, aside from reliability. Having said that, I prefer the look of the CX-90 over the CX-70.😅 Thanks David!
I love Mazda, and I believe it is the best car brand in the market for price-conscious customers. I own a 2023 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition, and I love my car. The driving dynamics are so engaging, and the fit and finish are luxurious. You can feel luxury without gimmicky design elements, and that’s what I believe contributes to the timelessness of Mazda's current design. Driving the CX-5 in the city is a pleasure, as taking a turn or driving on curvy roads with this car is amazing. Driving the CX-5 on the highway is a pleasure as well. The car feels very intact and silent even above 80 mph. The 0-60 time feels naturally and sufficiently fast with the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Skyactiv engine. I own and invest in Mazda and wish the best for the brand. I am very excited about the CX-70 and what it has to offer in the future. That brings me to what I want from Mazda in terms of design. Even though I am excited about the new CX-70, I do not think I would sell my CX-5 for it and accrue more financial cost. However, if the following design elements are addressed, I might be "crazy" enough to sell my CX-5 and buy a CX-70. The following are my humble opinions on what Mazda should address in the CX-70 in terms of design: 1. The back of the car is the ugliest part of it. Get rid of the hunchback. I wish the CX-70 did not have the hunchback and looked similar to the back of the 2024 Acura MDX, or had the same design they currently have but without the hunchback. 2. The driver’s seat should be more roomy. Legroom in the back seats should accommodate a 6-foot-3 person sitting behind a 6-foot-3 driver comfortably. Additionally, a 6-foot-3 person should be able to reach the back of the trunk comfortably. Unless this happens, I believe Mazda will have a hard time reaching the general male audience in the United States. I am a 6-foot-3 person who grew up in Turkey. I have been living in the United States for the past six years. One thing I can tell is that people here are larger than in Turkey (maybe more than in Europe too). 3. The front console protrudes between the infotainment screen and climate control. It looks aesthetically unpleasant, and the whole dash should use more materials than if it were straight (see the triangular inequality theorem). I wish that part of the front console would straighten up like in the CX-5. 4. I feel like the center console, where the shift and dial control is located, is too wide. The dial control, shift, and other buttons look like they don’t belong there much. That space might be used to widen the driver and passenger seats. Even in its current state, I believe the new CX-70 looks amazing, and it is one of the best luxurious cars in the market. I would buy the CX-70 over the BMW X5. I love Mazda and I constantly talk about my car to my family and friends, so much so that they are bored of it. The design improvements that I suggested in this comment are my dear wishes from Mazda as one of its customers and a baby shareholder. And, I thank David for sharing his expertise about cars on UA-cam.
I love my mazda3. After a week of driving a rental Toyota with a CVT, I missed how my Mazda drove. If you are shopping for a car, make sure to test drive a Mazda and you will see and feel how much better it is in comparison to Hondas and Toyotas.
Wow Mazda is back!! I remember back in the days the Mazda 929 was great competition with Lexus,BMW and such. People that had merc money were choosing the 929. After the 2000 Mazda seemed to lose their way making cars more on par with Kia and Hyundai at the same time. Now I can say it’s back!! The C70 with captain chairs in the back. Bam !!
I’m a huge car guy and I tell people besides Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and Mazda are the ones to get. The thing I love about Mazda it doesn’t give u the need to upgrade it because it’s a timeless design. They looks haven’t changed much at all actually and love the driving feel u get as well. I’m a Toyota guy but when I pay my car off I may give Mazda a go
I’m really considering the Mazda CX70 as my retirement vehicle. The engineering, interior/exterior are on another level. Thanks for confirming and validating my research.
The CX70 really looks good from your description. The one thing that makes me hesitate is that it is a turbo engine. Turbo means better power and gas mileage but less reliability and more costly repairs. Also I live in an apartment so I can't use plug in if I want to go hybrid.
i have had a few Mazda before i was very happy, i drive Lexus but need a new SUV i have been looking @ CX-9 but two seat is perfect for me & wife only, thanks for your presentation.
You reviews are absolutely amazing. We are so fortunate to have you. Thank you for what you do for us, which I’m sure takes a lot of time from your family and friends.
I love my CX-90 and actually agree with Mazda about not having full touchscreen functionality. I quickly got used to the knobs by the center console and find it easier that reaching for the screen. Also, no finger prints on the screen!
Lexus nx or rx….better IN EVERY WAY…in EVERY CATEGORY. Period. Fact. Maybe a little more expensive but SUPERIOR and less headaches in 5-10-15-20 years of ownership. GUARANTEED. Mazda is 💩. Turbo eats oil…trans garbage…broken within 5 years.
@@floman9385 buy an overpriced Toyota those cars are not in the same class they are smaller fwd chassis. Mazdas are better cars overall than Lexus for 5 to 10k cheaper
I've owned 2 Mazda vehicles. Both were a blast to drive, and I've owned Porsches and BMWs. The last one I had was a 2007 C-X7. It was fun, but I couldn't believe how poor the 2.3 liter turbo fuel economy was. I am so pleased to see that they have gone to a six cylinder. I may have to trade my 2016 4Runner in for one of these. Great review as usual!
The best Japanese brand out there. Miles ahead of everything else coming out from the land of the rising sun. Great review as always. Thanks for your work.
Fantastic review of this vehicle. I’ve been looking for my replacement for my Grand Cherokee and this is the one that comes closest for me. The value is off the charts compared to the other Asian car makers. Thank you again for putting such a great review.
Very good review, professional, thoughtful, pointing towards quality and value often. I did swing by the local dealer to check out the CX-90 a few months ago or so. Beautiful, but one big fail for me: the door slam test. We currently drive an Audi Q5 and a big Chevy Silverado. My son has an Infiniti and my daughter a Jeep Cherokee. All four vehicles doors close with a solid THUD. Just about every car that we’ve gone to look at in the last couple years closes with a solid CLANK. It’s like the doors no longer have any structure, no insulation, no sound deadening. There’s no weight to these doors anymore. It’s a very subjective thing, but I won’t buy a car doors sound like that. We plan to go look at the CX 70 along with the new Toyota Crown Signia and the GV 70.
Depending on which model you were looking at, they do not have all the junk in the doors because they moved the speakers out of the doors with a new design from Bose. They actually have more sound deadening in the cars since 2017 but the doors are much lighter weight without the speakers and other components in them! Plus the new Bose stereo sounds great
I’m continually impressed by Mazda’s build quality. I’ve had my ‘21 CX-5 Signature for 3 years now and it still looks new in and out despite having 40k miles. Cleans up very nicely and still haven’t found any rock chips! I do have one annoying little door rattle that comes and goes, but otherwise no complaints so far!
I have bought more Mazda's than any other brand, and never been disappointed. It makes me biased, but every time I cross shop, they find a way to make driving an enjoyable task.
They are gorgeous. I do feel the sheet metal is a little thin and not stiff enough for my liking. I noticed that exterior door panels seemed to move a lot when opening and closing. A friend has a Mazda3 and the C pillar flexed inward when we were hand waxing it. That would not happen on a BMW.
Great. Had Mazda since 1998. A 89 323SE 5 spd manual trans. 2007 Mazda3 also manual trans. Now a 2018 Mazda3. All these positive youtube video gurus are gonna jack up the prices. I hope Mazda stays Humble and True to Form and does not do anything drastic like some auto manufacturers have done lately and having all come back and bite you in your rearend, like main bearing probs, EV mess, AFM probs etc, etc. Mazda, please avoid the mess out there.
I have a 2016 cx9 love driving it my wife has a 2023 crv its a nice car but I like my cx9 better I will be buying a cx70 soon as soon as I of the dealership around me get the combination I want this is the best car for the money by far once you drive a Mazda it's hard to drive anything else
Very Nice Review of this new Mazda. I'm liking all the Numbers as well as the design of the Premium Plus Turbo S model. I feel that though You are a bit remiss in not including comparisons to the 24 Acura MDX Advance (the 25 MDX has been slightly redesigned that thankfully eliminated the TTIP Touch Pad InfoT system , added Massaging front seats, included a new B&O stereo system [the current ELS system in my 22 MDX is outstanding!?]. The 25 MDX A-Spec Advance is priced at $68-69K , that's $10K +/- more than the CX-70 Premium Plaus Turbo S. The CX-70 is delivering HP & Torque of the Type S, a little less luxury, continuing the Console dial InfoT. system not in AA or CP mode [thankfully they did go wioth a Touchscreen in AA or CP] and one should consider the quality of Mazda's AWD systems (Rear wheel based is imopressive - the Acura is Front wheel based) vs Acura's well known SH-AWD which is really Good. You compare the CX-70 with a Pathfinder - you should have compared it to the Infiniti CX-60. I will gve this CX-70 serious consideration as I look to either buy my 222 MDX Advance at my lease expiration (only has 21K miles on it after 3 years), or lease a new Vehicle.
It is amazing that Mazda spent so much time on paint and panel gaps, but reused the cargo area interior panels of the CX90 instead of designing model specific ones?
It's basically the same car (even the same model, but the naming is confusing). It's just another variant of the CX-90. Just like the CX-8 is the 3-row version of CX-5.
Great review. Mazda vehicles have not steered me wrong. Dealerships and service centers are weak point. Unlike Tesla, I still can’t go look, learn and experience a potential purchase without the pressure of a traditional dealership. This isn’t Mazda’s fault but it does make it harder. Service centers local pricing are also all over the place and suggest superfluous services. Also have had a fair amount of unwarranted disrespect. Will still look at Mazda before other manufacturers especially as they hit higher on quality metrics
I was considering an Acura MDX until the CX-90 came out. The styling on the Mazda is better. The paint is better. There's little, if any piano black plastic on the interior. The inline 6, which I had in a BMW 20 years ago, are all pluses for me. I was reserved about Soul Crystal Red on that large a body, but having seen a CX-50 with it, in a parking lot, it's a much deeper color than I imagined. Sadly, Mazda's marketing photography doesn't accurately convey what these colors really look like. I'm sold on the CX-70, largely from reviews like your's David. 2.9 mm panel gaps?! Impressive!
Drove this car for a couple of days. Great car. My biggest gripe is that the seat bottoms are criminally short! I’m only 5’9” and I had a tough time getting my seating position comfortable enough.
Hey David, thanks for the great video! I watched the breakdown by “The car care nut” and he mentioned there’s too much going on with the cx90 for longevity and the mhev transmission issues. Thanks!
really appreciate the honesty coming from a Toyota fan. If a car is well made, it deserves credit. What do you think about PHEV? would it be as reliable as the non PHEV version? what's the tradeoff besides pricing?
Totally agreed, just from the ascetics! Also fascinating how this basic design has been around for at least five years and just requires simple evolution! As you've noted, the lack of a true touch screen is a let-down. Not a big fan of that pop-up look screen.Your review validates my addaration for Mazda! I drive the CX-5.
The CX-90 and CX-70 should just be one model with the CX-90 having "the optional 3rd-row seating". Great vehicle that competes directly with the Toyota Grand Highlander's higher trims. My family buys mostly Mazdas and Toyotas, and have rarely been disappointed with their quality.
I used to own a Mazda Millenia S. What a great car. Beautiful, zippy. Pity it was a maintenance nightmare. The CX70 looks beautiful with lovely colors and tech, in and out. Worth buying one of the unique colors (Sandy, Copper?) even if it ends up being a maintenance nightmare due to its complex drivetrain (turbos, hybrid etc.).
Will definitely test drive a Mazda CX50 or 70 next time I'm shopping around for SUVs. Genesis GV70 3.5T is rear wheel biased AWD drifts on demand in Sport+. Show me a Mazda SUV that likes going sideways and handles smaller than it is. In the end invariably I find myself leaning toward a X3 30i or 40i or GLC 43 or maybe lately the xc90 especially the hybrids.the top end produce close to 400hp/400 lb ft . Mazda never matches those numbers sadly yet want to charge similar prices. Zoom zoom has always left me underwhelmed once behind the wheel. They just don't have the get up n go of other brands.
In speaking with Mazda mechanics, the only big issue...and it's big...failing or problematic turbo engines. My cousin owns a newer Mazda and the infotainment system really bothers him. My brother owns a Mazda as well and the same issue. They also have issue ls with the paint. I really like the design of both the CX90 and CX70. They are incredible!
What is that orange thing David uses to measure panel gap? I want to take of one of these to when I buy my IS to freak out the salesperson at the dealership 😅
Awesome!!!! I wish they would add foglights. I believe every suv should have foglights or option to add them. This mazda looks great!! I also wished mazda could bring out the cx-60 to the U.S 😢😮 Great size for a solo person or even with a companion 😊
The drivetrain is not quite there yet versus the european counterparts. At 4-5000rpm the turbo makes a loud "wooshing" noise that sends violent vibration to the whole chassis, every time. Plenty of power for daily use as a 3-row SUV. Interior styling is fantastic, love the physical buttons. Fit and finish are top notch despite some parts feel a bit hollow and flimsy. In Canada the CX-70/90 is a much better value than in the U.S. However, Mazda needs to work on their packaging, the red interior is SO limited it's mind boggling...
@@xsej4223 me neither, except when merging onto hightways. Doesn't change the fact Mazda needs to continue working on improving their drivetrain. Never owned a car that made this kind of noise and vibration, and dealer says it's normal. Doesn't bother me like you said, rarely drive like that.
I am a big Mazda fan,I I own CX 30 and I love that car. It drives amazingly and it’s been super reliable. However, I’m a bit skeptical towards the new generation Mazda. I got a chance to test drive CX 90 and I felt the transmission is not tuned well it was hunting for gears and it did not give me the best driving feel. I’m still not sure about in-line six and how that’s gonna work out for them in the future and I am definitely not a fan of the look of the front of the vehicle for the new generation. I think the old one looks better, especially CX 50. They have done such a fantastic job with their four-cylinder engines and six speed automatic transmissions so they set high standards for themselves.
Visited dealership yesterday. Wanted to like this car. Nice design, lines, paint and door seams as David states. Interior felt cheap. Steering wheel especially, fuzzy suede dashboard was weird! Seats not as comfortable as Nissan Pathfinder that I test drove today.
Impressed with Mazda. Almsot as quiet and smooth as Lexus RX350 and ES350/300h. The Mazda3 2019 is so good. Would you say the CX-70 is better at controlling nvh, quietness and engine vibrations vs RX350 and 350h? The I6 is likely smoother than any Lexus 2.4 turbo, 2.5 hybrid 4 cyl, 3.5 V6, 4.6 and 5.7 V8? 😮
What a video, amazing attention to details, great job! You just got a new subscriber! Quick question, I am based in Europe and I'm interested in buying CX-60. Is there any difference between CX 60 in Europe and CX 70 in USA? I'm curious to know whether everything you mentioned in the video is also valid for CX 60. Cheers!
The only issue for Mazda CX-70 & CX-90 that they don’t offer roof A\C vents in the middle seats which is very important for Gulf & Africa countries where the temperature reaches above 45 degree C in Summer season 😢

This much complication of CX90 and 70, will hurt long term reliability.

@@zdenekkindl2778 Which other people? I 've only seen one negative reviewer who didn't know the car he was reviewing!
I bought a cx5 in January. Buyers remorse is setting in big time 😢
@@RunningThruLife Think I'm waiting for the re-design CX5 in 2025/26 with hybrid option. CX-70 is too big for my needs.
I'm looking at the CX50 (had a CX5 which I liked a lot). What trim level did you get? I'm thinking the Meridian Edition.
So far, this vehicle seems perfect for the actual day-to-day use my family and I need.
And unlike Lexus, the added features you pay for as add-ons are included in the price of the Mazda. You can't beat that.
Mazda was always good you just didn’t know it.
Zoom Zoom!
How is the seat for long drives
How's your mpg ?
I never thought I would look at a Mazda, but now I will thanks to your review.

Better check on the reviews of people who have (owned) this car for a longer period. A lot of issues with the quality. A LOT
This is sale pitch rather than review.
Mazda is so far ahead of the mainstream manufacturers. Not even premium badged manufacturers can match the attention to detail.
Mazda is absolutely killing it! Love this design. The car play is great without touch screen.
They have touchscreen when in android auto and carplay
The lack of a true touch screen is a disadvantage! The car excels in every other way.
Mazda AWD system I believe is better than Subaru. Plus Subaru has CVT trnasmission... a definite no no
@@mbenton6 Oh hell no you didn’t go there.
Me too! I prefer chrome trim vs black...
The following are my humble opinions on what Mazda should address in the CX-70 in terms of design:
Bam !!
I just purchased the cx60 it's amazing.
I’m a Toyota guy but when I pay my car off I may give Mazda a go
I so appreciate your engineer's perspective and attention to detail. I'm cross-shopping SUVs right now and this car is gorgeous inside and out.
I appreciate that!
Fail to understand why they don’t sell better. By far the best car company today.
Their decision to not use a torque converter is a deal breaker for me.
They don't market well
They have 4 SUV’s and they are too similar. So CX5/CX50 and CX70/CX90. They need more in between options. They lost me because they don’t have one.
3rd row is small
@magnoliap582 you forgot the cx-30. 😊
I just bought a cx 90 and it’s beautiful.
I’m really considering the Mazda CX70 as my retirement vehicle. The engineering, interior/exterior are on another level. Thanks for confirming and validating my research.
Same .

David, When it comes to fun, rear wheel drive will always win the day.
You motivated me to include this in my search.✅✅✅
I love my CX-90 and actually agree with Mazda about not having full touchscreen functionality. I quickly got used to the knobs by the center console and find it easier that reaching for the screen. Also, no finger prints on the screen!

Got mine last week, really happy with the quality
I've owned 2 Mazda vehicles. Both were a blast to drive, and I've owned Porsches and BMWs. The last one I had was a 2007 C-X7. It was fun, but I couldn't believe how poor the 2.3 liter turbo fuel economy was. I am so pleased to see that they have gone to a six cylinder. I may have to trade my 2016 4Runner in for one of these. Great review as usual!
The best Japanese brand out there. Miles ahead of everything else coming out from the land of the rising sun.
Great review as always. Thanks for your work.
Thanks for watching!
JUST test drive one and you’ll be hooked. Mazda has hit it out of the park with the engineering of this vehicle.
Plus the new Bose stereo sounds great
I gotta admit, having owned 3 Mazda 6's - solid design, aesthetic quality and exciting driving experience. I fully agree👏👌
I think the cheapest BMW is 2x the cost and 1.5x the weight of a Mazda 3, so not really fair.
As a car enthusiast, I can appreciate all the meticulous details Mazda has attended to in order to achieve perfection.
Great video and observations. I concur with your assessment of Mazda driving feels; I have a CX9 and I enjoy every minute behind the wheel.
I'm really stunned by the design and the level of detail of Mazda CX-60!
That’s really a nice review, thank you much. This car is beautiful, the exterior lines is just off the chart. Nothing like it.
Impressive!
Wow , my first time watching your reviews , learned a lot , 👍
Happy to hear that!
I love both the new CX70 and the new Toyota Crown Signia. After watching both reviews I am torn as to which one I want.
Both are great vehicles but feel very different on the road. Test drive back to back and you will know which one is better suited for you
David, I always appreciate your expert opinion on Mazda. Thank You
My pleasure!
Thanks!
We had a cx9 for a few years, it was a great suv that drove like a sedan.
If I was a car designer this would be the car which I say proudly I designed it.
You made me change my mind about Mazda. Thank you, Buddy! 👍
really appreciate the honesty coming from a Toyota fan. If a car is well made, it deserves credit. What do you think about PHEV? would it be as reliable as the non PHEV version? what's the tradeoff besides pricing?
Good review 👍 Mazda has come along way.. Looks so much better. Question everyone wants to see, how reliable the vehicle will be.
Fantastic review. Thank you for your great insight. I am sold on this vehicle!
Mazda will go on to be number 1. Well done! I rest drove a base cx 50 and it was great.
^^ This. Elephant in the room question re (why not) combining the models.
Great take on car reviews. New subscriber.
This is one of the most attractive vehicles out there.
Considering replacing my 2008 Speed3, this could be it! Thanks David
Thank you for the nice and warm review! It feels like you speak directly from your heart! ❤️👍
Description of driving experience reminds me of my almost 7 year old Jaguar F-Pace. Will have to check out this Mazda.

Thanks for the great info!
Looks like my targetted next vehicle has been endorsed well.
A full week with our Soul Red, with black interior CX-70 TRB and its truly wonderful.
Always loved Mazdas. Just wished that they used more durable/thicker paint.
Luckily,, i dnt rev my engine above 3 500 rpm.. mostly 2 500 to 3000 normal driving
I like having the controls by my hand.. Such a joy to drive....
David: which 3 of the colors have that special treatment? Thanks.
Mazda’s play on how the light reflects off of their bodywork is not only industry’s best, but first I think (with the CX30).
Visited dealership yesterday. Wanted to like this car. Nice design, lines, paint and door seams as David states. Interior felt cheap. Steering wheel especially, fuzzy suede dashboard was weird! Seats not as comfortable as Nissan Pathfinder that I test drove today.
I wish mazda could build a mazda6 sedan version just like this. This styling in and out, straight 6 turbo, rwd…oh! Can you see it?
Agreed beautiful and powerful. Space is missing. Now if they made a real 7 seater, I would buy it and use it with my family.
But what about carbon buildup on the intake since it Direct injection ?
As per above comments I 16:37 love the idea of a RWD/AWD inline 6 sedan and Wagon. BRING IT! Put me down for an estate or wagon!
Cheers!
❤ got one last week. 70
Mazda interior is amazing !! Finally catching up KIA !!
Good job !
It was never behind kia or Hyundai. Mazda is building the best Japanese vehicles even better than Acura and Lexus

David - What are the two other CX-70/90 colors besides Soul Red that have the ultra-small flakes in the metallic paint? Thank you.
Hate touch panels. Having said that, great review of what appears to be a great car
Great work! Fantastic review.
Stopping researching on q5 and xc60 and switching to cx-70
Very helpful care review indeed. Very specific about details. Keep it up
Great show 👏👏👏
The only issue for Mazda CX-70 & CX-90 that they don’t offer roof A\C vents in the middle seats which is very important for Gulf & Africa countries where the temperature reaches above 45 degree C in Summer season 😢
I'm a massive Mazda Fan and i own only mazdas......but I'm pretty confident that the RDX and MDX drive better than the CX70 and CX90.
I test drove an MDX Type S and CX 90, I would buy the CX70 over the Type S. I only wish the Mazda was a little bit closer to the X5 in size
The MDX/RDX drive better , but are numb and more bodyroll when pressed .
If only Acura made RDX with either hybrid or the new 3.0l turbo from the TLX Type S. And a much needed infotainment update.
