@@mmiz2045 I believe it; thanks a lot for your kind reply, mmiz2045! I am sorry your aunts apparently didn’t get a copy of this wonderful clip from Bandstand, but I suppose staff were too busy to do that for every guest, and of course it was before the days of common VCRs. If you wish, you can tell Debra that while growing up, this guy Bob thought she was an excellent comedy and variety actress (as well as gorgeous of course) and that I envied underrated actor Michael Lembeck for getting to work with her a lot, and very underrated musician Shaun Cassidy for getting to sing with her. It is great you have exercise content on your channel; it’s key to a long life I believe! (I wonder if anyone has ever asked her like ”Excuse me, you look familiar from late 70’s Saturday morning; were you a Kong?”) Honestly I had not heard of the whole Clingers Sisters group until discovering this clip, and I’ve started watching more clips about them. They deserved every success they got, and I am enormously sorry about loss of their dear Peggy. I’ll also be seeking their music, preferably to buy new condition items that will result in the Clingers getting some royalties. Blessings to you and your family!
There's a clip of the girls playing this song on the Glen Campbell Show in a documentary. It shows them playing their instruments. I wish I could remember the title of it. I know it's on UA-cam.
The Clingers aka The Clinger Sisters made REAL Rock 'n' Roll. Their niece lived in the apartment below ours in Orem, Utah - so we got to meet her beautiful blonde aunt (a Clinger Sister). I know my R&R History, but had no idea who The Clingers were. Then, I saw their fantastic Smothers Brothers appearance on UA-cam - and remembered it from my teen years! Thankfully, I got to tell her about it.
Debra Clinger was in the female trio Rock Flowers in 1972 & 1973 on Wheel Records (division of RCA Victor). The song "Number Wonderful" hit the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in early 1972. Later with Kaptain Kool And The Kongs (1976 - 1978).
The Clingers were/are an excellent example of the type of beautiful and wholesome white female singers that you will NEVER see on television today. One more reason (among many others) that the 1960s were so much better than the 2020s.
Peggy Clinger I think was in the female trio Dusk who recorded for Bell Records in 1971 (release only as 45 mono singles & no album) with the songs "Angel Baby", "I Hear Those Church Bells Ringing" & "Treat Me Like A Good Piece Of Candy".
@@playokay totally agree! couldn't have said it better myself. Lucky for him his name was a lot better known, than his face, when he ran for Lt. Gov. of California.
Thanks for the added information Matthew ..seems so long ago now in 2021 but in reality was only 4 years when David Bowie recorded his version. Clingers were musically talented , vocals and instruments
Definitely a UK original, written by Tony Macaulay. Very popular hit in the UK and released in the US at the time but not a hit - which is probably why The Clingers thought it might still be worth recording it for US release 18 months later, as it's a very catchy pop-soul sound.
I've never seen this clip before. Thank you for sharing. These are my aunts!
Congratulations to you! The Clingers are wonderful talents!
@@shiroibasketshoes Thanks :) They're wonderful people too.

These are four gorgeous ladies in this 1969 American Bandstand classic gem!!

Thanks for the great information; Pickettywitch also did a nice version of "Number Wonderful."
In less than 10 years from this video Curb would be elected Lt Governor of California.

Definitely
Often described as the first all female rock and roll band. They’ve been singing professionally since much younger than this.

Mike Curb has a face, and personality, for the recording booth
yeah, he has what we call a real douchbags face.

And not too long after this, he would compose the theme that American Bandstand would use until 1974.
The song "Everything's Alright" was done by The Mojos in 1966. Later done by the late David Bowie (from 1973 "Pin Ups").

The Clinger Sisters previously appeared on The Danny Kaye Show.
Have not seen much footage of them on that show, though. Someone please dig it out and post it to YT!
They were very attractive young ladies.
Debra Klinger was in one of my favorite cinematic guilty pleasures: Midnight Madness.
Loved her, too. Don't forget her turn in Kaptain Kool and the Kongs. So adorable :)
What talented and gorgeous ladies. Sadly, Peggy died of a drug overdose on August 9, 1975
❤❤❤❤
Somebody hurry up and invent a time machine PLEASE!!!
SO the uks paper dolls who had a hit woith someyhing here was a cover..........
Maybe? I'm not sure who released the song first. Love the Paper Dolls version too. Thanks.
@@thecadamusementcompany4209 Paper Dolls is the original. Reached #11 UK. It was their only hit.
