Hitting high dmg is easy, the thing is you have to maintain high damage window. I can SnS quad too, but only for like 1 hit in the entire game... my evasion mantle uptime is still not 100% i need more practice on dodging and luring certain monster moves...
this run is the epitome of perfection. Perfect Alatreon AI and positioning, perfect hunter positioning. the fact that you managed to keep Alatreon close to a wall made it so that the smoke bomb flying cancel will land right on top of you, and boy did that save you time, i reckon that alone and the perfect opener made the run sub 3. this is a huge achievment, congratulations!!!

In regards to the smoke positioning, you kind want him to have a little big distance away from you so when he roars, you can just PR the head, otherwise it's kind hard to do so. I'll definitely take credit for the opener though, that opener alone took me at least 10 hours to practice.

Roll x 2, Might seed, quick back step, perfect rush 1 2 3, quick back step, perfect rush 1 (ko) 4. Perfect rush 1,2, roll back step, perfect rush 1, 2, 3 (clagger) 5. might seed, claw uppercut, quick back step, perfect rush 1 Two questions. A. Am I right about the hyper armor in part two? It happens so fast and requires so much skill I can’t trust my eyes. B. Assuming that flame trident is worse than 50% chance, are there comparable options for dropping your health to 10hp for Felyne Heroics? I’m working on my SNS but this run is so masterful… it’s hard to process everything that’s happening.
A. Yeah you need to hyper armor through the fireball to get to the Felyne Heroic health range. You have to get your defense down to a certain value. You can check my defense at the end. The hyper armor happens right after you press L2 (LT). B. The success rate of this opener is much worse than that. You need the fireball instead of lightning at first (50%), then after you clutched onto his head you have to pray for anything other than lightning. It's more like a 30% chance of succeeding in the first half of the opener. Then you have to everything perfect. Positioning, timing, and you have to pray for not flinching Alatreon after the roar so you can get the KO. Honestly you just have to try for yourself. You should be able to get it if you copy my exact setup and strategy. It does require a lot of practice. Good luck!
That ice attack come with armor set ... need 4 piece of velkana set to obtain frostcraf ..and what he wear is velkana gama y ..... obtain from arc temperad velkana
I did hit the head during the transition animation. Although I messed it up and mistimed the FSB. Or did you mean the Dragon element burst near the end? If so there's no way to hit the head with SnS during that attack.
@@dusty3186 no it's the transition one, around 1:35. Iirc if you can space it correctly you can hit the head while it's transitioning, and do some perfect rush. I think it's possible, just a bit risky, especially with heroics. Either way, it's a good run mate! This is the first time sub 3 for melee right? Good stuff!

Can someone explain to me why he's using the fatalis SnS with ice attack when it's dragon element ? I haven't beaten Fatalis yet so I don't know how its weapons work, does it have every element ? Or does it change elements somehow ? Or does he just not care about elemental and the Ice Attack talent is simply a byproduct of wearing the Velkhana set ?

I'm assuming the smoke bombs had something to do with it but you also shot it with a dung pod. Does this smoke bomb + slinger ammo work with any ammo or is it specific to the dung pod?
If you enter the purple circle stealth mode by using smoke bombs when he flies, he'll start looking for you in the air and land about 5 seconds later. If you shoot a dung pod at him he'll immediately land. It works with any slinger ammo but most of them will cause a flinch, which is a time loss in a speedrun.
@@dusty3186 sometimes he flies quickly after landing especially during that take-off on the other kind of take-off where he leaps backward while shooting a fireball and takes flight smoke trick works 100% of the time and keeps him grounded. Maybe it's due to him being close to the walls that made him stay in this scenario.
Bruh what?! Back in 3U there was absolutely no hope of beating him in 3 minutes for melee, let alone with any weapon, what happened? Also I didn’t play world but that damage to me ( from what I’ve seen in other vids ) looks like stuff that would come out of a greatsword, like I’ve been looking at this Amadeus guy that plays the hunting horn and his most damaging hits do like 300 on the Fatalis, how come you do an average of 500 with peaks as high as 1000 with sns?! Wtf is this?!

Ice Attack VI is built-in in the armors, can't get rid of it.

It does, it is same as normal dodging. Evade window increase it too
No, it actually has double the i-frames of a normal dodge (25 on 60FPS iirc)

Heroic playstyle is OP but the hunter should master the monster first
