I met Michael in Las Vegas in 97. Even though he was still recovering he was happy to take time out to speak to me. I will never forget that 5 minute chat even though he struggled to talk. God bless you Michael
😥
uui
Did you understand him completely
Michael you are a true warrior and one of my heroes. Stay blessed.
here here!
Having grown up in this era I didn't realise how talented Michael was. I shed a tear when I saw Ali visited Watson in hospital..what a beautiful soul to do that. I looked at myself in the mirror as a man and said I can be a better person.
❤
"God put Maradona on this earth to score goals, Steve Davis to pot balls, and Nigel Benn to kick arse - that's the way I look at it." - That has to be one of the best sporting quotes I have ever heard!!! Brilliant!
Benn had the easiest, most natural charisma out of the three. Oddly enough the most likeable and relatable.
Who's God? Is he Barry Hearn?🧐
God put Steve Collins on this earth to retire both Benn and Eubanks
@@bonzodog6872 collins did beat benn wen he was past his best and won against eubanks on point's wen he was past his best as well but collins did beat them both fare and square!! IF he Collins met them in their prime different story and you all know it!!But facts are facts so and I respect Wat collins has done in the boxing game!!
Collins was an opportunist.
i meet you once michael watson in the 90s at peacock gym,u signed my boxing gloves and wrote god bless on them also....i was only young but now i understand what a great person and boxer you really are..your a legend my friend a true peoples hero
Wow as a boxing fan I never knew of this story. Three warriors that a lot of us Americans don’t give enough credit! Sensational
Eubank, Benn, Collins, Watson. And then Calzaghe. If you don't know these names, you can't call yourself a boxing fan. Just saying.
Michael Watsons recovery to live such a reality high functioning life is truly a miracle. The vast majority of people with a similar injury would not have survived.
It's fantastic how gradually this guy regained all his senses after it looked like he'd have been a vegetable forever. Then later he goes on to complete the London marathon.......that's a REAL warrior. Hat off.
The thing that struck me the most was the physio therapists and doctors of the British National Health Service who helped bring Watson back from the dead.
It's the best and most humane system ever created by a society ,and it makes me so proud to be 🇬🇧
I agree with you.
He really is a champion, stopped Benn, who at that point had knocked 22 people out in 22 fights, beat Eubank and got robbed on a decision, then beat him again but one shot done that to him. Then he has fought back to be able to move and speak again. True warrior, total respect to Michael.
ceme he didnt beat him but was up on points
No doubt, but Eubank was a warrior too. He admitted he was beat, outclassed, knocked down and still got up and moved forward. Michael was crippled and still got up and recovered. Both of them are the embodiment of warriors, and a lesson of what we are capable of. If we tap into that
What a human being MICHAEL WATSON is.
A beautiful documentary. What a tragedy, but this piece shows the strength and beauty of the spirit in Michael Watson. From a Spurs fan who grew up watching those fights.
This man is a true champion! His inner strength is a testiment of no mountain is too high to climb. Stay strong my brother.
Take a bow Michael Watson, you have displayed courage and determination second to no one...take a bow champ!!!
It's heartbreaking to see this documentary. I remember seeing the two fights against Eubank live on tv in Norway, and cheering for Watson the whole way - his style, his demeanor, his classiness, his heart. He was a classy fighter and person back then, and he is an even bigger classy fighter and person post-fighting today. A true legend and an inspiration to everyone. You have my utter respect, Michael Watson.
It's testiment to how fit the man was and his inner belief that he made such an amazing recovery
Respect to Michael Watson very talented boxer hard working with top class skills and ability. He won 2 world titles fights but first robbed by incorrect judge cards and the second is when he got hurt . World class boxer and a strong man with a good heart.
Wow. I actually shed tears when Mr. Watson and Mr. Eubank embraced. Incredible. Britain had some of the greatest fighters with Benn, Eubank and Watson. I’ve been watching UA-cam all day on these guys. I only remember Benn. I’m from the States. Anyway, my prayers are with them all. God bless you Mr. Watson. You are an amazing human being 🙏🏻❤️
what a great man michael is showing no hate to eubank saying it was acdient
What an amazing man. Inspiration beyond words. And his Mother, what a woman.
this was the best documentary about boxing that I saw at the time. and the moment when Eubank met Watson for the first time in ages. was heartbreaking tv.
Even now in 2018 I'm in tears what a man Michael watson is I'm happy he's still here on earth your the champion Michael god bless you sir yours Alan Johnson from Leicestershire in England I respect you Michael in so many ways you were a classic boxer god bless Michael watson yours Alan Johnson.
life is a bitch and never fair...very touching story about a great man and fighter
if only the judges had done their job the rematch wouldnt have happened when it did
A champion inside & outside of the ring.
True inspiration Mr Watson.
Keep fighting.
Michael Watson was on his way to becoming one of the greats, shame it ended early but what an inspirational story keep fighting champ
michael....i have learned a lot from you brother....i was at that fight and it was my last one too....god bless
They classified me as being "Michael watsis name", but Michael watsis name came thru big time"
michael watson what a legend what a champ.
Stumbled across this documentary. As a long time boxing fan this brought tears to my eyes.
muhammed Ali did a great thing ... i never knew about that :)
He was also an outward blatant racist, and consistentlytook jabs at people's appearance, intellect or their own skin color
@@deadarmd Who are you talking about?
@@deadarmd grow up in segregation usa in the 50s and 60s and see if u aint racist lol ali is the greatest
@@martytdd1606 hes criticizing ali for being a radical black separatist in 60s in USA when blacks couldn't even drink from the same fountain as whites lol
Michael Watson is rarely talked about but Michael Watson is clearly a supreme boxing legend.
So true. I remember my old amateur coach said that Watson was the best out of that trio of Watson, Eubank and Benn it's just that he wasn't as flash and showman outside of the ring. Hence, the reason why he didn't demand the same pay cheques as them.
A true fighter in every sense of the word. Michael you are an inspiration to us all.
A true gentle giant of a man with immense strength of character to match his world class boxing talent
What a great era ,not just Michael ,Ben and Eubank ,Steve Collins was a beast too and then came Calzhagi .
They are calling it a terrible accident. You get punched in the head for a living, this is not an accident, its a fact of life for a boxer. Check out McClellen, same thing happened to him. Boxing tries to hide these stories.
I went to his fundraiser at arsenal fc...i was young and didn't know much about him. Now I know how great he was and is. He was the best boxer to ever come out of the UK even though I loved Benn and Eubank
Great documentary really enjoyed it.
You got the best boxing channel on youtube man.
Michael is a legend. A great great boxer, and an even better human being.
Wow, what a beautiful documentary. What a great man Michael Watson is!
Michael you are the champion! Thank you and God bless you!
Wwwoooooowwww... awesome upload, thanks for sharing.
I was a kid when this fight took place but have just watched the 2 fights between Eubank and Watson, one thing that struck me was that Watson clearly won the first fight hands down but the judges were paid off to give to Eubank, so in essence if the judges on their first fight had been honest and had any kind of morals there is a very good chance that this horrible accident would never have happened,
You acting like eubank didin give bro a brain damage it’s clear who won
@@realityoverfiction9207 Watson would of tried the knock him out ,he'd of fought his normal routine that withought taking the punishment to try the hurt Eubank.
It's not rocket science.
Never forget boxers and other fighters are gladiators who put their lives on the line for our entertainment. We need them to show qualities which we should all aspire to have: grit, determination, ambition.
Michael Watson is every bit the legend people say he is. A remarkable man.
Met michael when i was 13 at crown n manor boys boxing club down murray grove
Just before eubank 2
And he was a hero to young islington lads
Never forget knocking on his mums door down de bouvoir estate and she gave us all his flyers
He was someone we looked up to and still do
God bless the force!!
watson is a warrior inside and out
Shout out from the U.S :) not really a big fan of British Boxing but awesome Documentary! I enjoyed it.
+Danny Penaloza British boxing rocks
+1966cain I am big fan of Mexican and American boxing.
+Danny Penaloza Mexican boxing is always good to watch.
+1966cain Yeah. UK got some good shit too.
The Force... Champion of champions
What a great man. Shame fighters of today don't take a leaf out of this guys book as he didn't wind his opponents up or loudmouth off to everyone, cause controversy to antagonise a fight (preflight). He simple trained and done the job. He might not hold the belts but it's obvious who won these fights regardless of the outcome.
michael watson was sooooooo handsome💜💜💜💜still is!!!! he has beauty inside and out!!!! god bless!
A fantastic pro..and a champion of man out of it.
Great stuff..... stirring, emotional...A lesson to us all.
Thank God Michael is back with us..
Watson I love you brother you are a talented boxer and discipline is what
Makes you a likeable person
... peace
Wow that was a crazy inspirational story. Kinda makes all my problems seem more beatable. Thanks Michael Watson!!!
What an amazing human being Michael Watson is. A true inspiration.
Michaels faith is an inspiration to us all 🙏
Astounding man
Michael Watson was in supreme condition in his prime! Ripped to shreds.
Michael can become an able body person again....i believe that!!! He was told that he would never be able to walk or talk again and look where he is now....he can do it!!!!! and he will!!!! keep going Michael! xoxo 💋
Just reading Jimmy Tibbs book at the moment, the fella who was in Watsons corner for the watson eubank fight. Brilliant book so far, well worth a read fight fans.
That uppercut may have been the most brutal shot ever thrown in the ring, it wasn't planned or timed, that was a last stand punch with everything behind it, I'm surprised Watson wasn't KO'd on his feet, a real warrior bouncing back from a horrible experience.
Just wanted to see Michael Watson hold that belt. Great man, great spirit, great determination.
It's kind of a coincidence and sad at the same time Nigel benn fought in another title bout with a man named Gerald mcgullen who was winning when suddenly he passed out and as a result became 80% def blind and could barely speak or walk benn fought Watson n lost Watson fights Eubanks and is winning when all of a sudden he collapses too n has severe difficulties afterwards as well. Just something I noticed when I watched this. Watson and McGullen are both inspirational people and were amazing fi
*Tim Westwood casually being a time traveler*
Safety has improved. I remember Blackwell was being given oxygen after the recent Eubank Jr fight. Good on him. Up there with Eubank Sr and Benn in the early 90s.
All the best Sir.
Very inspirational
Micheal you are a legend and youngster from your very place where you live in hackney look up to today they know who you are your great encourager to everybody around the world.
Praying the peace of GOD, upon you
God bless you and your family.
tout le courage, la grandeur dont peu être capable un homme ... Michael Watson en est la parfaite représentation . Michael Watson ? un héros .
Mon héros
Michael Watson will be in my store Worldwide Signings in Romford, Essex on Saturday November 26th at 12 midday, if anyone wants to come and say hi to this incredible man, please feel free
Andy Brace I'll give it a miss if you don't mind.
Here now, where is he?
With all respect, I never thought there was enough of 'this is the boxer's game' in Watson's response, so too much has been put on Eubank. It's impossible to know what laid the groundwork for the injury. The last shot he took against McCollum, for example, was devastating.
I thought that myself. He took a lot of punishment in the fight against McCallum.
What a warrior. We all knew Michael Watson was really the champ.
god bless him he was a true gladiator
Nigel Watson, unbeaten in all aspects...what a man
What a lovely man :o)
I remember this like yesterday... Michael Watson was one classy/stylish boxer and a great athlete. This would have killed any other boxer.
Michael Watson is a great man, what love his mother, his carer, his brother and friends gave him. It was a great experience to meet him , what a saint for his charity work, which was covered by the Telegraph in the UK. There is a God. Michael shows people what they can be and shows up people who are nasty, small and rubbish. Look to him as a lesson or beacon.
Tragic story. He was brilliant but sadly doesn't get the credit he deserves. Just goes to show with boxing doesn't it....one or two shots can be devastating or even lethal.
have so much respect for Michael Watson. A great fighter and a Great man
Michael Watson what a man much love god bless you
Brutal classic fights
I've always gone out on my feet win or lose in a fist fight. But when you go in a gym and really feel a pro or even a amateur toy with you, it's when reality sets in about how dangerous these men really are and can be.
Respect to the Champ Bless
Wow! Beautiful...a true champ was Watson.
Chris Eubank...its boxing...you were class!! Michael Watson...think you won, but what you have suffered is so unfair!....you are both hero`s in my opinion!....you are both warriors! Hope you both find peace!!
This appalling tragedy should never have happened.Michael Watson won the first fight. There should never have been a re match. You are an amazing person Michael, and your strength and courage is astonishing.
Whenever l go to England l must arrange to meet him. I followed his career since he turned pro. It was unfortunate he had to fight Mike McCallum. It was even more unfortunate how the judges screwed him in that first fight with Eubank.
A true champ, well done Michael..
"Friends" yeah right.. Those girls were his boxing floozies....
His faith gave him healing, what a genius and great boxer, a champion in his heart and God's.
What a story !
I moved to Tottenham the weekend after the fight and the posters were still up everywhere promoting it. So sad.
Sad you Had to move to Tottenham
It's great that Ali went to see him. Just the tonic, in many ways, for another fighter.
I can remember the 1st fight he had with ubanks ' & oviously the 2nd fight ' its such a shame ' i felt sorry for both of them ' this wasn't easy on eubanks ' the guilt must of been hard work ' but well done to micheal watson ' on his recovery ❣️
Great, great man and boxer. Total respect. No one has done it better than you.
P.S. you beat Eubank both times.
Seriously? He LOST both fights.
The Vicious Chicken of Bristol Um, no. Good trolling anyway, I guess. lol
I remember those fights with both Benn and Eubank.. and of being so disgusted with that first Eubank fight travesty, as well of course as the horror at what came to pass in the rematch (a fight that should never have been required!!).. Michael Watson was and clearly remains a real class act, and - as someone whos been in a coma themselves and, in my own case, has been fortunate enough to make an almost complete recovery - its fantastic to see that he's come so far back in his recovery!!!
God bless Michael Watson a true champ
😢😢😢
