Patti Austin, Joe Sample, Earl Klugh, David Sanborn, and Nathan East ... it just doesn't get better than that! 11-22-23: CORRECTION - That is Marcus Miller on bass.
Love it when people share their experiences, thank you. A wonderful ex boyfriend and now loving friend of mine made a mix tape for us when we were driving to a wedding Upstate New York 2009. We are from England and it was such a fun trip. Listening to it whilst taking in new scenery was just divine. I will still remember it when I am old and in my rocking chair!
Just going though your playlist - great tracks! The Leon and Carleen version of "Inside my Love" is in my list and another live I would have loved to have seen. Minnies whistle coming in on the scratch before Franti!
Discovered “Night Music” just LAST NIGHT! Instant fan of this classic show, and what can you say about the INCOMPARABLE Patti Austin, Joe Sample, and the AMAZING “Night Music” House Band???
After all these years, I just found out today that Melodies Of Love or When The World Turns Blue is a song. I luv it when Joe Sample played in on piano as if he was singing on it.It just gets better and thanks Patti and Merry Clayton. :-)
This come from the 1988-1990 show Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music. Full show here: ua-cam.com/video/Vw3ZDAhSreA/v-deo.html House band: Omar Hakim (drums), Marcus Miller (bass), David Sanborn (sax). This song features: Earl Klugh, Patti Austin, Joe Sample.
@@islandintherain I second this. No other female singer, or even singer for that matter, uses their voice like a beautifully crafted instrument they was Lalah does.
@@sergmont3160: Not to take anything away from the Lalah Hathaway/Joe Sample version, but I find that this version more lively. I like Patti's voice better than Lalah's on this. I do like Lalah's version as well.
Thank you Patti for operating on the level that most people can never see, nor understand.
oh man ...tears in my eyes..thats jazz...simply magical

That might be Marcus Miller on bass.
And Omar Hakim drums
Wow! Just wow! Patti Austin and Barbra Streisand both have that spine shivering type of voice.
Rest in peace, Mr. Joe Sample. Your music, your spirit and your love will live on.
A rare classic that I saw the night it was broadcast. This was a legendary show.

I’ve cherished this music for years, I’m happy to have posted it. Thanks
I love this song, but Patti Austin sings it like no other.

:-)
One of the most melodic tune I first heard as a piano instrumental from Joe Sample.
Thanks for Melodies Of Love.
Rest In Peace
The Joe Sample album Rainbow Seeker with Melodies of love on is amazing.
Mesmerized with this version best artists.
Romantic song and great performance.
Love this beautiful Romantic song and performance 💚🧡💜🤍💙💛🤎❤
earl klugh on guitar..this is hell of a band
Yeh!! Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Joe Sample Patti Austin, Earl Klugh...goodness gracious.
Wish that Patti would record a studio version of this song.
My favorite version with vocals. Miss #PattiAustin is always amazing & #JoeSample - you were simply marvelous! Thank you! ~K
Almost 2020 and still listening to this gorgeous track. Thanks for posting this x
The band behind Joe is like a dream of studio musicians. Check out Marcus Miller on bass, and who I believe is David anborn on sax.
Amazing. ❤️
incredible incredible
パティオースチンの声は、40数年、聞き続けてきた、素晴らしい声、暖かな声、迫力の声。
hearing this version just makes me yearn for Phyllis Hyman to do a version would be as haunting !!!!
Phyllis would have tore this song all the way up! She would have brought it home!

Lol. How are they not gonna credit David Sanborn?
Or Marcus Miller
This is David's show. He was the host of Night Music.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
goosebumps stuff
What genre is this? Seems abit jazzy but I don't think they are using the jazz scale here and there isn't the jazz swing.
Why no credit for david sanborn
He was the host of the show
Noooo....Merry Clayton!
* * * * *
Merry Clayton's version with Joe Sample is still the best. Nice try Patti and Co.
Salena jones version is much better
No way. The Selena Jones version has no soul. This is the second best vocal version. The best by a mile is Merri Clayton
