First, I LOVED Person of Interest the first two and a half seasons. So, This show has been off the air for years, but I have to say this. Was Sarah dating or involved with some producer on the show? Because I noticed the show went above and beyond, at EVERY level to showcase and spotlight HER and HER "over exaggerated" portrayal of the Shaw character. The producers ruined a very good show. The Root character I didn't mind so much, however the Shaw character got on my nerves. Shaw felt like an "interloper". See, here's the thing, EVERYBODY on Person of Interest had THEIR own "niche" as a character. You had Finch, rich mysterious, smart, kindhearted leader. You had Carter, principled, smart, tough, police detective. Fusco, flawed, evolving good guy, need "the family" reliable sidekick. You had Root, tough, smart, mystery evolving good guy. And then there was Reese. Reese was the shows stoic, handsome, semi cold, tough, flawed, rough, ultimate champion for the good guy, who can take care of ANYBODY and ANYTHING, at ANYTIME. UNTIL Shaw. Shaw's character, for me, encroached on the character of Reese. The show ALREADY had a "Reese character". The show didn't need a "colder, more over exaggerated female version" of John Reese. The show did Taraji and Jim a disservice. By killing off Carter, and diminishing, or duplicating the character of Reese. Jim's character was no longer "unique" to the show. His character no longer "stood" alone. For me, it was like Everybody's character was STILL "individual" except Reese. Jim's character became a "twin" to Shaw's character. And I didn't think that was cute. At all. It was incredibly annoying.
Finally someone said this! I think the same man and was so mad at showrunners for introducing Shaw when we already had Reese. Root's addition was acceptable but replacing reese with shaw never made sense to me. Shaw and Reese got same personality traits. And shaws inclusion didn't bring anything new to the show except that "lesbo shit" which i hated as well because this show imo, didn't need to force this woke shit into this masterpiece. I was so mad at them for enforcing shaw on us and sidelining reese. I wish we could know why did they do this to him. For me, aside from the main plot of surveillance and AI.. Reese was the SHOW.. who held it all together single handedly till carter's death. Yes, finch too but i still remember, during first 2 seasons, everyone was mesmerimised with John's personality and his fighting scenes. I think, either Jim himself must have asked them to arrange a partner for him as he had i guess mentioned once in one of his interviews that, he was drained emotionally and physically by being in every scene for 1st 2 seasons or someone from the team of showrunners must have had issues with his views so they decided to sideline him. Anyway, whatever the reason was.. i am still mad at them for ruining one of the best characters out there like this
