Yeah I agree he seems to like bigger knives. He should only use two hands with the triad lock though. I’m afraid he might pull back a nub.

Hey Taras... you should try the sharpness of the knives by the papertest.
They should all be able to cut the paper fine but learning to sharpen is a skill you need anyways

Fiskars recently bought Gerber. If you look you will notice that there are a lot more Gerber branded scissors too.
2nd knife "fiskers" with big hole...I use an S beener...clip it to my hiking pants...very handy

I have a friend who is an arborist, and he sharpens his axes and hatchets deep on one side and shallow on the other. He says it helps ,when chopping,to release the blade from the wood.

As a butcher i carry the gerber flatiron the clever style folder its a great knife takes an edge well hold it fine and i use it mostly for opening heavy duty boxes

all the blade shapes have names such as drop point blade etc read up on them it will make them more satisfying to collect and talk about..
Most of my Gerber knives came with uneven blade bevels as well. Always sharpened more on the back side than the front.
I think that on the frame lock knives you're having trouble opening them one-handed because you are accidentally pushing on the lock bar with your fingers while trying to open the blade, which puts a lot of pressure on the detent and makes it very difficult. Probably even harder since you have fairly large hands, I think.

I had that combat folder on my first tour, worked great.
If you loosen the screw that the blade swivels on it makes it easier to flip open

Practice flicking your wrist. Use the knife blades weight to your advantage. Even tight fit knives open like butter with the right flick. Also, with the grind angle, if it looks like one side is ground wider than the other side, this can be a good thing. If the grind is equal on both sides, it can create more drag. If one side is wider, it could equal less cutting friction.

You should do unboxings of zero tolerance knives. ZT 350 especially
I’m pretty sure the first blade you showcased was a Bayonet style. Dagger would be sharpened on both sides like you mentioned.
Do also a video showing all your knives in your collection. Plus a blade test with paper. You could also use a weighing scale to show us the weight of the knives.
A little bit of white lithium grease or wd40 will loosen up the fold action for a smoother opening and closing.

Upvoted first Kukri style knives/machetes...I was doing yard work earlier this summer and was easily chopping through 3” (green soft wood) medium sized trees with a flea market bought 8$ kukri. One good whack, I was really surprised.

The Army issued us that first combat folder knife you opened when we got deployed to Iraq.
They gave us the real thick bulky rubber handled folding knife that came with a belt holster. I still have it
