Great study. As a chef & renderer of meats (butcher) in my former life, a thin blade is what's used for delicate cutting & trimming of thin strips, as would likely be done with jerky strips and rack hung slices..
I love to see archeologist pushing their paradigm instead of being 'stuck in the mud'. We need more open minds in this science, otherwise it stalls. BTW that's a very cool jacket she has on :)
Great, informative talk. It gives me a lot of insights as a amateur student of Native Americans. I have a Clovis poit and scraper found in N GA by my dad. They were found while clearing a plot for a orchard. The location was up on ridge side at the begining of a gap in said ridge. I would like to know how to recognize Younger Dryas layer in N Ga. and what impacts it had across our country.
If you could get the local collectors to contribute pictures of what they have collected from that area you would have double or more examples to add to your data. Put the word out and i think a lot of folks will respond.
The coolest idea was a out wolf spiders secreting saliva that helped control erosion. How did they hunt, then kill and drag animals to central area. To kill that many at one time would have taken serious hunters or cliff.
The black mtn site on the pic of the artifacts found looks like an effigy.the grey one looks like a cougar. I find paleo sites put east and wondering do u find many effigies.i find them often at paleo sites
