I have always used a steamer on wash day, it help with moisture training my hair as well as deep penetration with my conditioners, I have low porosity hair and I can tell a difference between heat and steam ❤
i’ve been using a sauna around 4 times a week in combination with the mielle pomegranate and honey leave in and coil sculpting custard in between wash days and my hair has been retaining so much moisture and even help decrease the amount of shrinkage after using
Sisssssss!! I started doing this today and it worksss so much better than the hooded dryer. I thought I was gheddo for using my facial steamer but seeing you using it too girllll made me much more confident lmao
A year later and reading this comment made me feel a lot better 😂 Amazon facial steamer been working for me as a man also lmao started with curiosity now I steam my hair with it at least twice a month
Wait you got this steamer for $19, I got it a few years ago for facials for $129 smh got a great deal. I never thought to use it to steam my hair thanks for the tip
I just used my steamer today. I love it mine is a 2in1 steamer. It's the one with the hood and the other part is for your face. Now I had deep conditioner on my hair and a plastic cap. My hair was dripping soaking wet. From the steam. Now I was reading a article yesterday about steaming your hair. It said don't steam longer than 30 minutes because it can harm your hair. I will only steam on my wash days for 30 minutes
I love afro hair, but unfortunately I personally cannot spend so much time just to deal with it so I keep on shaving my hair. When I want to rock an afro I just get my AFRO WIG. But girrrrl I admire your efforts 👌
Yes!...i love the steaming method Naptural 85 turned me on and i refresh my twist out while im steaming...but i will definitely deep condition also and i give myself a facial too when i done with the hair!!
That moment when the intro ends and you start to sing “what it doooo uh wassuuuup” and it didn’t hap- Giiiirrrrl before I could finish typing it, you addressed it 😂😂 let me shut up and continue watching
I absolutely love my hooded steamer!! I’ve 💯 felt the benefits of steamin twice a month. *Pro tip* if u haven’t already try this on ya face once a week! OMG!! The most relaxing and hydrating thing u can do for ur skin (yours is amazing btw 😍)
thx sis, found my facial steamer while cleaning and been convinced i could do this. now i don't feel silly trying 💁🏿♀️ (you're really pretty btw!!!!!)
...one thing, a person can experience low, high, and normal porosity on the same strand of hair. Porosity is basically your hair’s ability to absorb and retain moisture. It deals with the outermost layer of the hairshaft, the cuticle, being opened up to allow moisture in. There are a number of things that people do to their hair, whether chemically treated, using heating tools, exposure to the elements, and the products they apply to the hair that affect porosity. People generally say that they have low porosity because they think it's the best out of the three states of porosity, not realizing that the same person can, and in a lot of instances have all three on top of their heads. That is why how we take care of our hair and what we put on it is critical to the health, growth and retention of it... plus, determining porosity is not always a straightforward process. There are, in fact, different methods that helps in understanding porosity and where your particular strands fall on that scale, so... yeah. It's definitely not a one size fits all thing, FYI. 😉
I'm LOPO, so this was great to see. I've been meaning to try an actual steamer because I usually sit under the dryer as well or I'll use my Hot Head cap if I need to walk around and get stuff done, but I want to try a steamer now.
Thanks for the video sis! It’s a nice reminder for me. I haven’t steamed my hair in … I don’t want to say how long! It’s been too long! I’ll definitely pull it out for my next wash day. Tfs😘👍🏽
Yes streaming your hair add life to your curls I have the q-redew but I just order another type of streamer because it’s not hand held. Waiting for it to come in mail. 🤨I’m salty because mine is not 20$ more like 45$ lol. Any who I will enjoy using them both one for restyling and the other for deep conditioning. 😜
If your hair is low porosity, it’s best to rinse with warm water. But ultimately, you have to determine what your hair likes. I have been natural since 2005 and have tried so many things for my hair. Everyone’s hair is different. What works for someone else may not work for you. My hair has fallen out because I’ve listened to UA-cam. So just be careful.
Crys, any tips on maintaining or prevent evaporation of moisture in the summer? I’m in west Texas and it’s hot and dry. +100°F weather, low humidity. Or maybe a video ♥️
@@deadlockshadow8998 I currently use grease but it’s so heavy that my curls are weighed down and product buildup is notable. I may try some butters and styles that are basically pinned or tied up
I got rid of my steamer some years ago. Heat steam on the hair, over time, will change the texture and that texture won’t match your new growth. The ends of the hair are the weakest and need less direct heat.
Forgot to put this in the video but here’s the UA-camr that put me on to steaming!! ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/W9vidz4GloY/v-deo.html
Can I use the steamer to detangle my hair
Lol that’s funny because she’s the one that made me buy the one she’s using…. Lol
I first saw this type of steamer on Napural85 channel. It' my birthday this month so I'am going to put this in my Amazon cartt
Steamed my hair for the first time today, BOMBBBB! My hair is normal porosity.
What’s the name of the steamer?
Thank you for throwing the intro in there ❤️💪🏽 cuz that Part hyped Me Up Every Trip
haha ayeee!
Can I get away with steam from a pot in the kitchen?
Nice
thanks!
I have always used a steamer on wash day, it help with moisture training my hair as well as deep penetration with my conditioners, I have low porosity hair and I can tell a difference between heat and steam ❤
YES!! There is zero comparison 😍. I will ALWAYS use steam after that first try.
yasss! im late to the game but im here now lol
yasss sis!
Is this a good steamer? Does it last long before it stops working?
@@Skne91 any type of steam will do just as long as it’s not too hot. Steam is steam.
I'm medium to high porosity and I steam also, it helps with moisture retention
yasss! love to hear it!
i’ve been using a sauna around 4 times a week in combination with the mielle pomegranate and honey leave in and coil sculpting custard in between wash days and my hair has been retaining so much moisture and even help decrease the amount of shrinkage after using
still trying to build a perfect routine and way to deep condition before i go into the sauna tho to take time out of my weekly routine

I’m happy you love this technique too!
I love their deep conditioner! I steamed with this product for the first time and my hair was unbelievably soft and defined my curls like a gel!!
Happy I found this video. I have a daughter and her hair needs help 🤣
I love afro hair, but unfortunately I personally cannot spend so much time just to deal with it so I keep on shaving my hair.

I found you on Instagram and realized we have the same exact hair type I’m just here to learn hair care from you ❤️

can you fill up your steamer with rose water to steam your hair?
Usually the manufacturer will say what is allowed in the water tank

the intro is the reason i subscribed.....all the way from zim. you are beautiful and fun
Do you think I could do this with a protective style like a box braids or Marley twist? As long as my scalp is exposed for the steam to do its work?
I ordered my steamer today. My cousin who is a licensed cosmetologist has been after me for months to get one so finally. Can’t wait to get it.
Love it! And the one I use doubles as a facial steamer as well 🙌🏾❤️

@CurlieCrys did you rinse afterwards ?
A handheld clothes steamer would be good for travelling and being able to deep condition your hair.

My hairdresser steams my hair once a month with the Olaplex and it is amazing. I may buy one for the home now!
yes! get it while its on sale lol
I shower at night and I was always frustrated how good my hair looks when I get out only to go bed smh lol
I'm 58, I've been getting my hair steamed since I was 5
Literally just received the same steamer yesterday for facials.. Will definitely utilize next wash day!
Yasss! It’s bomb for facials too!!
Ever try steaming as you put your leave in, on?
omg thank you for doing this video i have this and was about to buy the one thats for hair but im like isnt it the same thing? lol
Your skin & hair is absolutely beautiful...I'm going purchase that same steamer
Can you do this in place of a deep condition like hair mask n basically just shampoo, steam, add leave in, then style?
I've been doing this for the past few weeks and i love it... Btw I'm low porosity.
yasss! im late to the game I see
I am waiting on my steamer to arrive. I am so excited to use it
Do you still use the steamer?

Use rice water for the steam😏😏😏
Is that what the manufacturer of the steamer allows? Be careful
I missed on how long to apply the steam to my hair.😊

Do you add leave in conditioner with this as well?
