Learn how to use exposure compensation and the camera's priority modes (Av or Aperture priority, Tv or Shutter Priority and P or Program) to finesse how your camera responds to light and get the look that you want. Your camera calculates the average exposure of a scene and assigns a relative exposure value. A relative exposure value of 0 is considered middle grey or a "properly exposed" image, but in this video I show you that there are times when that's not always ideal...which is where exposure compensation comes in.

Wow, this is a super helpful easy to follow step by step tutorial of the Canon Rebel camera. I am getting a Canon Rebel T7 and am excited to do exposure bracketing via Adobe Lightroom. My Canon 5D Mark iii has HDR mode that I can bracket 3 photos at different exposure to blend together in Lightroom, for the ability to get High Dynamic Range in the photo.

@@ThisGuy what led me to your exposure video is because I need to learn about how to shoot my computer/products and setup which is usually darker room with a lot (haha) of RGB lights. So my shits tend to have a lot of “noise” and glare in some shots. Any advice would be great especially with my T3i.

Shawn, a T3 which is in MANUAL mode with AUTO ISO, using LIVE VIEW, can or cannot access exposure compensation (not bracketing)?
How do you get the Rule of Thirds lines on the camera? The 9 boxes, that is. Is that only for newer modules? I'm using a Rebel T3i.
In the menu. Look for "grid display"

It doesn't if you lower the exposure compensation or use manual...
