  • You would be suprized how little makita tools I actually get in for warranty repair.
    I wouldn't have repaired 10 makita tools under warranty last year.
    This is one of the reasons why I recommend makita tools.

    And there we go, Proof is in the pudding as they say....DeWalt would have dried out, Milwaukee....Motor would have just died....Makita.....Metal part readily available & next to nothing cost wise to replace. This is why i love watching...No BS fixing!! Love my Makita tools, regardless what others say. I know it's not going to cost me a kidney to replace it. Thanks for the video Dean.

      If it was Milwaukee, most likely, it would be the motor controller that dies, it sadly seems like a common trend with them.

      I'ts a real shame tbh that the Red brand has gone down this dreadful route & sadly anything made after 2020 is going to fail constantly. I had the same issues as anyone else with the Red branded goods where they would just fail unexpectedly right when i needed the reliability. so before buying anything else tool wise i always consult Dean's repairs. All tool's fail and i get that, But it's how good the backup is & parts are available.

    Masterful dissection and problem solving Dean. We are in the midst of changing over our tool inventory from Dewalt, they have their ups but too much downtime for constant maintenence and broken parts. Seems Dewalt quality keeps going downhill. We were starting to switch over to Milwaukee but the controllers and motors keep frying and the cost of repair doesn't add up. We are buying Makita tools now and so far they are keeping the boys happy and moving along.

      For most part, I find makita the brand to go for.
      A local furniture manufacturer here several production lines running flat out.
      They where using all air tools. But had to modernise and go cordless for thier tools. Like most the didn't know what brand to go for.
      So they took no chances and decided to go with Hilti tools. They took out a fleet contract with Hilti to supply and maintain all thier tools.
      The Hilti drills where only lasting 2 days. Between them sending tools back to hilti and hilti contacts sending out new ones. Hilti asked to leave the contact.
      They asked the shop I work for, what to buy. And we recommend makita, so theu bought 50 drills and batteries. With myself to do warranty repairs for them as they failed.
      That was 2 years ago, and I never got a single broken drill from them. They are all still running.
      Makita for the win.

    Its really interesting to see. A lot of people i work with all have Milwaukee and then complain when they die and can't be repaired or have issues with the batteries. Yes there are specialist tools that only Milwaukee do but personally I'll stick with my Makita as they are fully serviceable and the batteries allow air to flow through them. Having spoken with a few repair agents they all said Makita is a lot better for repairs with the availability of spare parts

    • @shifty277
      @shifty277 8 днів тому

      I can't speak for the last year or two units of Flexvolt batteries. But I have seen too many flexvolt 2017-2020 batteries failing due to going out of balance or terminals inside breaking. It doesn't matter how they fail as there isn't a repair market out there for batteries in the UK unless you will do them yourself. Hikoki too with their multi volt. The BMS systems in these don't seem to have the reliability they should have.
      Stay with 18v on the lighter tools like Impact, jigsaw and go 60v on SDS, Grinder & Circ Saw.

    • @RyeOnHam
      @RyeOnHam 8 днів тому +1

      @@shifty277 Hmm, wonder if the 36-volt Makita batteries have to be balanced as well? I'd be willing to bet there is a solution. I have heard of, but haven't seen, the issues with the Flex-volt. I'd like to think that Makita would have implemented it right, but maybe the dual-18's was, in fact, the right way to go?

  • @technologicalsingularity1788
    @technologicalsingularity1788 4 дні тому

    Question here sir.
    Some sds hammer drill(dewalt for sure) seems to have rather unnecessarily heavy duty spring like this one 7:33 in front of it. I wonder what is that for? Is that there for only allow the machine to hammer when you push the bit aginst the concrete so it doesn't desroy it self when running idle I guess? or just recoil absorption

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  4 дні тому

      That big spring is to operate the clutch. When the drill bit binds up in a hole, that spring can compress and allow the clutch gear to slip. saving the operator from a broken wrist or thrown of a ladder.
