For more Half-handed Cloud Christmas music, Asthmatic Kitty Records has a dozen songs together in a single video: ua-cam.com/video/XGgqrRtZNto/v-deo.html Also, not included above--there's a new & FREE 2020 Half-handed Cloud Xmas song, "Christmas Hindsight" at the Badgerland Bandcamp: badgerland.bandcamp.com/track/christmas-hindsight
Coming here as a veteran Hypnospace Patrol Department enforcer, this song was perfect nostalgia to listen to. Man... the era of Hypnospace is such a mood to remember, huh. This time, it's the original version, it still hits hard in some way, just like the adaptation. I'm gonna miss all my old memories.
There's a certain painful, indescribable emotion I've always felt seeing what I can only describe as innocence/kitsch paired with biting cynicism. I first felt it watching Billy and Mandy, and there was a joke where a cloying care bears commercial had a man being attacked by a real bear in the background. And my gosh, a christmastime song about a family missing the rapture on an album called "jolly time" has brought that emotion up again. It's art. Beautiful, painful art.
@@halfhandedcloud oh my Lord it's an incredible 2000s Cartoon Network show with great dark/cynical humor. It ended up going too heavy on stuff like gross-out humor and just straight-up fart jokes, but it's got some great moments.
I love the idea of tinsel tying up the trees restricting nature, just as the robes end up being left over costumes complete with a tinsel crown tying them down from the ascension. Damned Tinsel! Anyways, thanks to Jay Tholen's Hypno Space Outlaw I found & bought the album on bandcamp! Thanks!
Lyrics: I come to visit for the break I know I don’t have it all together In the parking lot we taste snowflakes the bread makers are probably controlling the weather their shelves deserted and the checkout lines are longer than all the tinsel tying up the trees You let me down now you let me down down down down down down down down Christmas Day, you let me down now you let me down down down down down down down down On New Year’s Eve we don our robes your dad fills jugs of of water and then he stores in the chapel we’ll be safe from snow We spent all of the money we had on billboards As midnight closes in then we begin to see we’re wearing costumes leftover from the play You let me down now you let me down down down down down down down down Y2K, you let me down now In my tinsel crown, and ascension gown God, you’re always intervening when it’s my chance to shine! yoo this blew my mind when i first heard it. id only heard the hypnospace version before. i think i love both but this edges it out for me. feels pretty perfect for the game tho lol really living for the buildup to the bridge i love how the chorus changes throughout the song so much
I'm so glad hypnospace outlaw introduced me to this song, it evokes such a nostalgic feeling like I've heard it before and the short story it's telling is almost like reading a letter from an old friend. Both versions are perfect for different reasons.
I found this from Hypnospace Outlaw, and ever since, this makes me feel a weight in my chest in a good way; I wasn't even alive for Y2K, rather, I was conceived on that New Years Eve. In that way, the new millennium and I share the same creation date, and this song makes me wonder if I have "let down" others, my friends and family, the same way Y2K has in this song. It certainly made me think, and its beautiful, too.
Didn't seem to like this version at first, when I came from the Hypnospace, but now I can confidently say it's one of my favourite songs to listen to when I'm feeling kinda down. Thank you for making this, my dudes.
@@JayTholenJr It's all about the feeling for me. This version is for making me feel raw, emotional, and teary-eyed. Millennium Anthem is all about saying one final goodbye to an era.
@@JayTholenJr Yeah, the harmonies really add a nice depth and emotion. But I also love the dated soundfont-style composition and Hypnospace-specific lyrics of that version. So both versions could happily exist together taking up slightly different niches 😊
God. Y2K was believed by many Christians to be the beginning of the rapture. This song is about their disappointment when the rapture inevitably doesn't happen.
People expected the world to end and be reunited with their lost loved ones, and instead the singer (who doesn’t have it all together, or just generally feeling bad) is super inconvenienced on a regular holiday after blowing all their money on advertising the end and waiting in the chapel for fellow believers, wearing what he feels is his “ascension gown” only to realize he just looks goofy using a leftover costume when midnight hits and nothing happens.

As a gigantic Hypnospace fan, it's really neat to hear this. It's really been making me discover some great music.
Wow, thanks--that means a lot.
Yeah, that's what brought me here, as well. What a lovely experience this has been.
@@demency2741it was especially fun to realize that he had done a few songs on the updated soundtrack.

Man, wow. I'm wondering who Billy and Mandy are--that sounds amazing. Thanks so much.

I couldn't think of a better song to listen to at the end of 2020.
I had the same idea as well. Happy 2021!
as a hypnospace enforcer, this is a certified hypnospace classic

Lyrics:
I come to visit for the break
I know I don’t have it all together
In the parking lot we taste snowflakes
the bread makers are probably controlling the weather
their shelves deserted and the checkout lines
are longer than all the tinsel tying up the trees
You let me down now
you let me down down down down
down down down down
Christmas Day, you let me down now
you let me down down down down
down down down down
On New Year’s Eve we don our robes
your dad fills jugs of of water and then he stores
in the chapel we’ll be safe from snow
We spent all of the money we had on billboards
As midnight closes in then we begin
to see we’re wearing
costumes leftover from the play
You let me down now
you let me down down down down
down down down down
Y2K, you let me down now
In my tinsel crown, and ascension gown
God, you’re always intervening when it’s my chance to shine!
Y2K, you let me down now
you let me down down down down
down down down down (etc)

This is my favorite coolpunk song :)
I’m so glad Hypnospace helped me find this guy. My favorite artist by far, I’ve never heard anything quite like it 💖💖
This song is sublime. The bittersweet melancholy always leaves me with a smile on my face. A pained smile, but a genuine one.

Never heard this. Very nicely done.

With much respect to the hypnospace version, this version is much better.
can't argue with this. :D his harmonies destroy. and those drums, dang.

Gotta disagree
Well, Millenium Anthem is not constructed like a *full* song, and is mainly constructed with MIDI instruments.

Fantastic listen helped me drift off to sleep during this bug i got thanksA

Can you post the guitar chords used for this song? It would be fun to sing when the holidays roll around.
