    Damn these cars look so badass! Took ALOT of skill to control these hunks of steel unlike the cars we have today(which isn't neccesarily a bad thing, but seeing a stunt driver control these behemoths so well is pure badass).

    If anyone is curious where this was filmed, it was in Henderson TN, south of Jackson. The Fina station was located on recently or soon to-be bypassed Old US 45 heading north into Henderson right where the new 4-lane curves away to the NW. The building is still there and is called Jones Underground. The jump over the railroad track was on Mill street, passing Chester Implement Company, which also still exists. Haven't taken the time to find 4-way grocery but it was likely not far away.

    It’s a statement of people in 70’s knew how to drive , put any young generation to drive one of those 70’s impalas already know what they’ll say “ it’s like a boat , doesn’t handle , can’t corner “ yes but they did drove it fine and they cornered it and they kept it on the road most times !

      @Vegas Stiffer shocks and using radials (instead of bias ply) makes a huge difference. People say they suck because they fail to adapt driving styles. Other than weight, tires & shocks there's really not a big difference in technology there.

      The black and white is a '75, the green one is a '74. The '74 would have had a pretty good advantage stock vs stock because it didn't have catalytic converters. GM didn't do dual cats so their cars were all single exhaust after '74 and for a while after, I think by the late 70s a few vehicles got dual exhaust again.

    Normally the Caprice and Impala follow each others footsteps in terms of design. However it seems that in 1975, the Caprice received a new nose and tail lamps while the Impala stayed with the 1974 Caprice's nose and tail lamps.

    • @1_Papa
      @1_Papa Рік тому

      That is correct but in 1976, The Impala finally got the same front end but with quad round headlights while Caprice Classic got square ones.
      This type of styling refreshening has actually been going on since the late 1950s (with Impala, Bel-Air and Biscayne and beginning in 1966 with the Caprice) and that cycle would begin again with the downsized 1977 models. But here and in this case, Buford's police vehicle is a 1974 Chevrolet Impala 9-C-3 (unmarked) while the marked car is a 1975 Chevrolet Impala 9-C-1. (patrol/pursuit). 🚓!

    In the early 80’s, my first car was the old family sedan. A 1975 Chevrolet Malibu Classic 4 door. Burnt orange with a tan vinyl roof. At 16, I was happy to have a car. Not as cool as the rich kids, but I did not care. They were driving Trans Ams to school. Us “poor kids” piled into that car and had a blast. We weren’t poor. We were rich in family belonging and non materialistic values.

      It's probably a 4bbl 350, I don't think the 400 had a 4bbl in '74 or '75 cars and it's doesn't sound like a 454, revved up too high to be a 400 or 454. TBH the induction sounds a lot like a Ford 351C or 429 with a Qjet from '71 or so before the compression dropped.
