ALCO is a sentiment for older people like me but EMD is morden. ALCO factory at America is closed now. ( Company closed ) But their engines are class. Mechanical engineering at it's best.

When 24/5 coaches are comes only WAP4 gonna halus with output rated 5350 HP and other sides this WAP5 rated output 6000HP more than WAP4 why couldn't WAP5 loco doesn't gonna hauls over 24/5 coaches..?

Though WAP 5 has higher horsepower than WAP 4 but still the axle load of WAP 5 is less than WAP 4....Axle load is also directly proportional to the tractive effort. The tractive effort also minimizes in case of WAP 5. The bogie arrangement also plays a vital role....WAP 5 is made for high speed so it has Bo-Bo bogie which means 8 wheels 4 axles. So WAP 5 cant haul 24-26 coaches in high speed like WAP 4 or WAP 7.
One thing we all should remember that, higher the axle load, higher will be tractive effort.....As a result better hauling capacity at a decent speed.

alco is aclo nothing beats its horn its chugging noise ,when its starts to pull, every action had a different knowing.
There are so many differences..and yes in diesel loco it is called dynamic braking not regenerative...in alco loco we do have dynamic braking but it is not that effect6as compared to HHP locos...both are now microprocessor controlled but CCB is an added advantage in EMD locos....Hope you understand CCB...
