Robinson was straight up OP in the NBA live series in the late 90s. He had this two handed dunk you could do with him where after it went through the rim it would bounce back up through the rim and go straight up off the screen. :D

I'm a simple man. I see David Robinson content and I click.
Mechanics are the one thing that kept Robinson from perhaps a top-ten of all time spot. His post footwork and jumpshot had noticeable flaws. He'd go into the post and his pivots were too wide and unstable, subject to disruption by contact. His hook shot, which he didn't shoot often, was released at a strange angle. Bizarrely, Robinson would be in short-range areas and often go to the jumpshot form rather than shoot half-hooks or scoops.
About that jumpshot, unlike anyone I've ever seen, Robinson released the shot on his way down, not at the height of his jump. In the game six loss against Phoenix in 1993, after Barkley's jumper to take the lead, the Spurs had a second and change to try and win, but Oliver Miller blocked Robinson's turnaround jumper at the buzzer. Miller had a great rookie year and was a good rim protector, but at 6'9" shouldn't have been able to bother Robinson's shot, but Robinson shooting it on the way down made that possible.
I was 15-25 during the 90s as a Spurs fan, and David coming in was huge. It was a great time to be a Spurs fan, and I had no idea then just how much better it was going to get

ah dude, I love the admiral as much as anyone else but Shaq in his prime is the most dominant center of all time. As a sixers fan, 2002 I think, they got Dikembe (RIP) to try and have some sort of answer to Shaq - it was just painful to watch. Not saying that Mutombo would have done better with peak Robinson but I would still take that over alpha Shaq

And if you believe Shaq is greater than David Robinson that's fine. I just know that David was a better overall player. He had a much more versatile post game, he had a consistent mid-range game, was a better free throw shooter and he was a much better defender than Shaq.

David Robinson had the highest WS/48 of all time (tied with MJ out to three decimal places). MJ barely shades him in the fourth decimal place.
    MJ .2505.
    DR .2502.
That is a difference of only 0.0003.
Both now trail Nikola Jokic's .2541 career mark, but Jokic has not played into his declining years so far as DR and MJ did, which will reduce his career average number.

With the lack of physicality or contact in today's game, no doubt that Admiral would be way better and with way greater longevity--even without "load management" because he wouldn't have the constant wear and tear battling physical rivals like Shaq, Mailman, Ewing, Zo, Mutombo, and Dream. Robinson gets overlooked from his era because of Olajuwon during his prime and Shaq after his prime, but Hakeem is the greatest center ever and Shaq was one of the greatest offensive forces who would play half of his prime with hardly any all-time center peers in their prime other than Duncan and Dwight plus a relatively brief run of Yao. Furthermore, David gave up 2 of his best years as a player while completing his military service obligation, so his prime was already abbreviated.
Today, he would be a way more efficient scoring Giannis because he has far greater shooting range and post game as well as consistent free throw shooting (a major weakness for Giannis). While his assists wouldn't be as gaudy (unless his coach wants to have him initiate the offense like Jokic), Robinson would rebound better than Giannis as well as pile up steals at far greater rates (despite being the rim protector) and blocking way more shots. In fact, Anthony Davis would be a better comparison because unlike Giannis, AD is a rim-protecting Center who happens to shy away from officially playing the position (i.e. Duncan), except Robinson would still be far more durable and dominant rebounder, shot blocker, and scorer.
In addition to being a model citizen and starting a Blue Ribbon charter school (unlike LePEDs whose own school had every child failing 8th grade-level math), David would still be considered an anomaly for being a multi-talented nerd in super-athlete's body.

They want Wemby to be that. Just needs more bulk. Robinson came in like a brickshit house. So did LeBron.
Wemby should pan out. He might be an injury risk too. He's probably still growing. He's going to get a staff of pretty much everybody to keep him healthy. Surely, he does. It would suck if he had a short career. It's good basketball.

David was awesome, but Hakeem buried him in the 95 playoffs. Never seen ANYONE like Hakeem. To the Admiral's credit, he scored a career best of 71 points and was a dominant player in the NBA. He deserved an mvp. So Hakeem had to show David who the real mvp was. As great as David was, I think he hot for 32 points that game. But Hakeem scored like 45 and destroyed Robinson down low. Due to how they played even though Larry Johnson could shoot he was strictly looking to posterize players. Until injuries forced him to changed his game. I like Giannis and to his credit he has improved his shooting each year. But if he couldnt attack the rim anymore does he have enough to become a role player? Maybe if he ever shows that post game he said he has been developing. But we havent seen him be able to run a pick and roll with Dame yet. So I'm not sure if he would be a role player like Larry Johnson was able to do on the Knicks.
