I’m not gonna argue with the notion that stylistically they aren’t the most original band in the scene, but to be completely honest I don’t care. What gives them the edge over pretty much every other progressive metalcore band is their ability to elicit such strong emotions out of me every single time they release something. The way they write ambience and atmosphere into the techy stuff is absolutely second to none, and the result is by far the most cathartic sound in metalcore for me.
Couldn’t have said it better myself 👍
Very much agree. For me it's also just the way they write ambient stuff in general. Their ambient tonalities are so "cold" if you could say that and I haven't heard a band which does that the way they do it.
I feel like Invent Animate has a signature sound personally. There’s other bands that sound similarish, but imo still nothing that sounds just like IA.
Agree. I can always appreciate technicality but the albums that tend to be my most listened to are the ones that evoke emotions from me.
I don’t think style is the best way to describe how they do/don’t stand out, mostly because it’s pretty much understood that IA has “their sound” that they’re known for. That would be their style, therefore they would be stylistically different than others.
I think I understand your point though because I have a playlist of other bands that fit this sub genre of emo, prog-ish metal.
They’re becoming a top 5 band for me really quickly
SAME
Been top 5 for me since their first album. I randomly heard white wolf by them on pandora one night playing Xbox and went and checked out their album and fell in love then. Been in love ever since
@@levilively8643 Same. Been listening since their Waves EP, which still holds up.
Man the guitar leads throughout this are delicious. Cannot wait for the album
Winter vibes
I'd highly recommend seeing these guys live if you have the chance. Sadly, they keep getting stuck with 5-6 song sets due to always opening, but god damn they are great. Hopefully this album blows up for them and we get some nice headliners.
A dream of mine❤
I saw them in August and can vouch for that. They are amazing live, incredible energy.
@@soloq8603 That ERRA tour was perfection
Saw them opening for Alpha Wolf and they truly deserve a headlining show. They were so fun to watch live!
They are headlining now 🤘
my favorite band in metalcore strikes gold again
Currents, Northlane, and Silent Planet are my top three but recent IA has been absolutely amazing. They deserve to be listed at the top, and they're gonna get even bigger for sure.
this song made me cry. the lyrics are relatable and it's so emotional. amazingly band 🙌
Goddamn got me with the whatsoop fakeout. Love the review, it sounds like you have the best intentions for these guys. IA are right there with Northlane and Erra as my favourite bands.
ever since the sun sleeps EP everything theyve been putting out has been top tier. the vocals especially have massively improved
I saw them in August with ERRA and Alpha Wolf it was a fuckin amazing show. This band is so good, I feel like they are on the verge of becoming massively popular.
My overall favorite band is Linkin Park, but my favorite “prog metalcore” band is definitely Periphery. Cannot wait for PV!
Also, the guitar work and chorus in this one was 🔥
This band is truly special
Incredible single. One of the top 2 songs of the year for me. This was better than anything Erra or Northlane put out this year, so I don’t really agree with what you said about them missing something. For me, they’ve become top tier ever since this most recent EP.
yeah since the sun sleeps EP they have become one of the strongest and consistently best bands out there! Before this song i would have said that only ERRA has been putting better work out recently, but now i must say it is Invent Animate that is releasing best music!
Favorite prog metalcore band: Currents, but Invent Animate are right behind. Loooove the emotions.
Very good review as always birb!
This is one of my favorite bands. I love the emotion so much. It just really hits home for me
Fav prog metalcore? At this moment in time, it has to be Reliqa. That album is SO GOOD.
quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. The power these guys deliver is something else entirely. I love their stuff
This band and Currents seriously hit different with Metalcore I love love this band. I need this album right now!
Favourite Prog Metalcore band remains Invent Animate for me. I also like Currents, Erra, Northlane, Glass Crown and Aviira
That chorus is fucking fantastic
Currents for sure is favorite prog metal band rn, but these guys are climbing fast on my list, the improvement in the cleans and lyrics are phenomenal imo. Can’t wait to see these guys continue to evolve! Awesome reaction thanks birb!
Not sure Currents is really a "prog" band.
They have implemented some prog elements, sure, but not to the degree that people consider them a progressive band.
And that is how it's fuckin done. This track gets better with every listen. This band is soaring above the rest of the prog metalcore bands right now. They never fail to activate the feels in me while making me bang my head at the same time.
This band is by far my favourite modern band. Thornhill is also up there, but man Invent Animate simply do not miss
Well heck, dude, this is just so good. I've listened to it like 8 times in the last hour lol. I do get some vibes of older Northlane from this as well, but I don't really mind that tbh. I think it's got enough uniqueness to really hit me in just the right way. The clean vocals and the *very* ethereal atmosphere do me in time and time again.
Fave metalcore band?? You're really expecting me to pick ONE outta all the magical bands in the scene? Shiiiit. If I HAVE to pick one, probs Periph.
Song of the year. Best IA song ever. the "con" be a copy of og northlane, silent planet, etc.. is not a con, its a pro.. yes, they've used the same elements of this bands/songs but still IA.. the originality is the fact that we still have perfect songs that hits just like the older good ones... at least me.. i dont like northlane's new stuff, the marcus bridge era.. yeah they have awesome songs too but doesnt hit like Adrian's quantum flux and dream awake for example... and today i have the same feeling i have 9 years ago and i miss so fucking hard to feel that way again.. this song is just PERFECT... my opinion of course...
I really appreciate how although they are not always necessarily your taste of music that you recognize their insane talent and their potential is huge. Me personally I love them so much! Top 3 favorite bands for me right now
They just released a US headliner tour in december!!
favorite prog metalcore band has to be silent planet. currents and invent animate are really good too but not quite number 1.
also something id love to see invent animate do as a thing to help make them stand out is add a little bit more thall here and there like they started to do with shade astray and a little bit with as if it never was
Good song, I've heard of them with their song the sun sleeps which is pretty good, favorite prog band loathe
This was a perfect blend of old and new metalcore-type sounds. They have the djenty, proggy style we see more of these days, but this really pulled in a lot of elements of emotional metalcore from the 00s...stuff like FATA or Misery Signals. I'm usually pretty indifferent to this band but this was a great song
his soft clean vocals sound like Rory Rodriguez a bit
My fav program metalcore band is indeed, IA 😁
I liked invent animate before the new vocalist and I like the new vocalist 💁♀️
ERRA :) also feel better metalbirb!
Favorite prog metalcore band is a tie between Northlane and currents. But I also really like Rogue and invent animate.
In the words of Nik Nocturnal, "some Northlaney vibes!!!"
For me it's between Erra and Invent
I think Currents, Silent Planet and Invent Animate are the kings of atmospheric/emotional prog bands
Seeing these boys tonight in Bristol with Currents, After The Burial, Spite & Suicide Silence. Beyond excited! 🔥🤘
Not a fan of the unnecessary tempo change at around 4:45. They could have stuck with it. Great song regardless.
It acted like a mini breakdown and a break from the repeated riff’s. It’s good
I get what you’re trying to say here.. perhaps extend the chorus more?
@@Johnty270 it could have been a breakdown instead if there were no vocals during that section. That would have been perfect. But there was still vocals and was clear that it was a tempo change. Some prog metal bands can do a seamless transition and they seem to be able to do so in other songs.
Appreciate your review but these guys hit an emotional level northlsne rarely did, piece that with sweet mucisianship and a crispy cinnamon chorus and these guys are top echelon metalcore
Been my favorite band since Stillworld in 2016. Never have i seen a band switch vocalists/lose an integral member, go for a more mainstream approach in songwriting , and still somehow manage to maintain the integrity of their signature sound. And with this newfound balance they're only getting better.
Erra is my favorite progressive metalcore band 🤘🏼 I definitely agree with your thoughts on IA. The new music is a huge improvement in terms of accessibility and I’m really liking these singles but they’re still not one of the most accessible bands in their genre. That’s totally fine but it’s likely going to naturally limit their fanbase. With that said, I’m rooting for this perception to dissipate. These new singles are awesome and I wish nothing but success for these guys!
it's a bit too early for me to be feeling all emotional; what a banger of a song, sheesh. also, i'm not sure if this counts, but TesseracT is my fave prog metal band.
God tier chorus, so much emotion
So excited for the Brand of Sacrifice track tomorrow
I've seen them live twice and they just keep getting better, absolutely in love with where they're going and can't wait for the album, easily my favorite band since they dropped that last ep
This is my favorite prog metalcore band currently
I already commented but another favorite i forgot to mention is crystal lake I think they are considered prog too. Lol
I remember seeing the Cloud Cascade reaction and hearing him say there was "room for improvement". Stopped taking him seriously ever since.
If you like this, please check out Float Omen!
Decay is never far behind
I would love to hear a invent animate featuring spencer from periphery.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
what's your favo band ?
This was so fucking incredible
BEAUTIFUL BAND 🏆
My favorite prog metalcore band.. Wow that's a good question. I'll be honest I get bored by most bands nowadays haha.. I would have to go with either Make Them Suffer (Even tho they're more metalcore than prog, they still have some prog elements) or Oceans Ate Alaska. I 100% agree with your take. Invent is missing the X factor to really seperate itself from the crowd.
Getting mad Happiness in Self Destruction vibes. Sections of the song were so reminiscent to Time Changes Everything.
i feel like the mix has a big effect on why'd you like shade astray a little more. this song was a grower for me. after a few listens and really listening for the layers made me fall in love with it
Easily one of my favorite bands. The chorus to this is 🤌🔥
Gonna check these guys out, cheers dude 👍
Yeah dude I’m seeing them soon too .
SUPER Canadian intro potential, should've said "how's it going, ay?" Lol buuuuut you missed your mark there Birb. I am disapoint.
I agree that they are very similar to alot of other bands although the tracks are really well done in that style, just not unique as you say but they do it damn well if youre into that style. I love Silent Planet personally
I think I finally figured out why I can't get into this band. They're very atmospheric and emotional but for some reason it doesn't connect for me on that level. So it just falls flat for me. An absolutely incredible band I wish I could get into but it's good to see how passionate their fan base is.
their production was the main reason for me but their last album made alot of improvements on it so i was able to pick them up eventually and all their recent singles are all great
