- This video was shot by Pops at Biology's open air party in Watford. As far as i know this footage hasnt been uploaded to youtube before so this is a first. The event took place during the Acid House period in the UK circa 1987-90 and was completely banned by the government and law enforcement. In those days we had to fight for the right to part and i mean fight... SEE MY ACID HOUSE BLOG: acidhousehistory.blogspot.com/
Note from Pops (RIP): 'Love the video of Clapham Common!!!! God I must have been out of it to film that. Good to see all my friends though including Baby Sean, the lovely Rhanya and Anouskha, Chesney, Mark Hastings, Phil Calaghan, Ray. Love you all and just love those times.... Wow, I was at this party, still have the original biology flyer. I was a car sprayer and worked for Cowies... I was in that van driving past at 3:48. Saw Chalkie white doing his wheel and reverse parking which was absolutely hilarious to watch. You'll never see the likes of these events again, it was a very special and magical time to be a raver, everything and everyone just seemed to gel so well like it was meant to happen. All colours and creeds sharing the same sky and we all were one big very happy family. 89' was my favourite year of all time. ❤️❤️❤️
Haha! I clocked the van. What made me laugh was “E” is known as Cowies here in Newcastle. Synchronisation 🤣
@@lynseypringle9585 in Leeds we called coke cowie
@@kells77 ha funny how 100miles can change the meaning of a word 🤣
@@lynseypringle9585 it is ain’t it haha
I was also at this party these were the best days of my life
Black, white, rich or poor we was one big happy family on a space ship and we could of landed anywhere in a field near you.
Wicked and bad sounds to drive you mad kicking up live and direct biology by far the best
dz united 4ever You picked the perfect time to visit!
Time machine anyone? 🙂
Blapps posse!
And that's why I love our scene. Raved in Los Angeles California in the early 90's. The music, culture and all the people, together as ONE.
Hands up if you were around for these days? When the drugs were good, and the nights were long. 🤚🏼 🤚🏼
🙋♂️
Miss them very much love you all who were around ❤❤❤
🙌 yes, yes, acid house days is the roots of all forms of rave. Never forgotten all dimensions possible ❤️ 🙏
@@patientdD420 I weft from this into illegal outdoor raves in North Wales 🏴 then I moved to That London and I was with the Techno sound system Immersion for a few years putting on warehouse parties... I retired from it all some years ago now and haven't been to a rave in years.
🙌 absolutely!!!
This was a very powerful thing back then, which I was blessed to be a part of. Of course the Establishment wanted this stopped I mean who wants peace and love?Right
There's no profit in it.
The music is rotten. You’d need to be off yer head 😂
In the early days it was just that. One big party.
It just wasn't taxable......
@@megadave1197 not all of it bud. Peace.
Electronic music and dancing out in nature is great for the soul!
They made this illegal....yet are quite happy to send our children to illegal wars and either kill or be killed and if they do come back either missing limbs or suffering severe mental health, depression and mental torture or guilt and quickly get forgotten and abandoned....Go figure!!! On a lighter note....Chalkie White at 5:50 perfecting his driving skills.....Absolutely hilarious. Just wondering what happened to the rest of the car. Probably left on some South London estate a burnt out wreck! Haha
No mobiles back then. No social media very good times
I feel so incredibly lucky to have been 17 yrs old in '88 and living in London. Been scouring this vid for me and my peeps but no luck. I know we were there as we were most sundays.. best bit 4:37 when they all go mental! Love and Unity, right? That's where we were at. Massive love to all you lot who were doing it in the summer of '89 and nice one Wayne for putting this up X
Big respect bro
Hey......Born71 ? Are you still with us ?...........bless............
Youngsters now will never understand the brilliance of this short but amazing era.
No mobile phones, no social media, no trolling, no distractions, no selfies, just people in love with futuristic dance music together.
Bring it back. It's the only way.
Peace Love Unity Respect was the vibe and great pills helped too...... 1988-1993 was my time and I’m proud to have been involved in the golden age of rave and the beginning of modern dance music... history in the making !!!! 👌👌👌🐝💤🐝💤🐝💤🌈😎
89 was the best year.. 88 was still underground and backstreet.. 90 was hardcore.(good but not happy) 89 was love
You had to be there !
Some of the best days of British Youth Culture 😊
Rock to the Beat
You knows it.I was 19 then 49 now remember it like it was yesterday best days of my life.
People were so chill back in those days. It seems to me that people nowadays take themselves too seriously. I wish I experienced those times. you guys had proper fun
Was the pills 😅
@@nickpistolas4428 yeah...I KNOW it was the pills. but now even with pills people behave like they have two sticks up their bums...
@@nickpistolas4428 There was an optimism about. New decade coming, times are changing and all that. The pills fed into that. Or at least thats how I remember it.
These days will unfortunately never be recreated 😢. Best days of my life .
☺Blink of an eye and it's gone.😔..Never will be repeated, )Never will be Forgotten♡
I just turned 17 at the time in 89 happy care free times I was so lucky to be that age at that time,
This video demonstrates the freedom and the solidarity and love of life we had back then, it did not matter if you were White, Black or Asian, rich or poor straight or gay we danced together in peace , most of the kids now haven't got a clue
so fucking jealous mate I was born in September of that year
So jealous I would do anything to have been that age then
Yes. I was a bit too young to go to the raves (went to every disco and under 18s night I could, though!) but that was the vibe I got of the time.
All We Wanted To Do Was Dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly now look at the world tried to portray these people as some kind of criminals total respect to the original raving crew.
it didn't matter how you looked how you danced it was all about having fun evey one walked a way whit a smile how it should be
I was at the party in Elstree which was one of the best nights / days of my life. I remember hearing French Kiss about 5 times over the night and each time filling my whole body with goosebumps. These parties changed many peoples lives.
Bet that tune still gives you goosebumps 🕺🏽
This is so brilliant really captures it for me just can't stop watching it feel so nostalgic
Them were the days - Went to Castlemorton and countless DIY and Spiral Tribe parties back then. Best times of my life the 90's.
The dude in the yellow hat and glasses is my best friend and I've never even met him!!! I love this guy!
Absolutely brilliant l.Puts a big smile on my face.I jumped on board in 92 after watching these vids on the news saying how bad it was.I was born in 75 and wanted to be a part of this and I still am.Respect to the original ravers ten fold.❤❤❤
Yes it warms the heart 💚💚
So good to see all the happy faces, enjoying the music and each anothers company and energy.
This video made me smile.
Back in the good old days when the main objective was to dance all night
Best times no one fighting just love be raving everyone care for each one nevet matter who ya was
Mate! Clapham!Common. How cool.
I was probably down the South Circular a bit.
It was a good after party...
Strings of Life... Chooooooon! 👍
😎🇬🇧
This is class. I was born in 87 and makes me think that all these people are well into their 60s/70s now, I hope they all feel the same inside now like they did back then
I was 16 in 87, I can get away saying I am 45........blessings......
Late fifties thank you lol and Yes I feel the same inside as i did back then... Love humanity and life 🌻
@@WayneAnthony you’re as young as you feel 🏅 I was watching some cool ones about Sterns in aldershot. Also there is a really cool documentary about music between 1984 and 1992, check it out it’s really cool this guy lecturing to some students about what life was like and the power of raves etc
@@WhalesOfWallStreet My heart is still young and fresh lol I watched that documentary, the way he linked up Acid House to the wider culture was interesting.
Yeah really cool, need more educators like that, very engaging. He is right as well, society is at a crossroads now again but everyone seems silent @@WayneAnthony
Thanks again for filming these. I for one am truly grateful.
The chap who filmed it has been raving in actual Heaven's for some years now RIP Popz
Just think you're never going to ever see a natural bunch of people feeling free ever again
No one had a weight problem back then 😆
I was there never seen this piece of footage before big shout to chalky
First Rave was at Clink Street old prison in London with my 13 year old sister & big brother 💙
A great era, a moment in time never to be forgotten. I even appear in this shoot at a young age of 18. briil. well done for capturing the time.
Where are you mate? That’s cool as fuck
@@conorsmith8551 I don't think he wants to tell you lol
imagine the kids nowadays just going for it in a car park!!! impromptu they cannot do, it'd be full of selfies, instead of enjoying and soaking up the moment
Actually they do
@@smcmullan995 no they don't because a car park isn't a suitable backdrop for their selfies and social influencing guidelines. You have no idea what we go up to back in the day...trust me it was way beyond what kids get up to now, but with respect...which is now void with modern youths.
@Mathew Meehan pin away my friend
@@smcmullan995 all I see from club footage is kids hanging around the dj booth, filming a DJ press the sync button, twirl a few knobs and give the jesus salute. Pathetic. Watch the footage again, no one taking the piss out of each other...for wearing/dancing differently...we where there for one reason...to have a good time and enjoy the music. You try lying down on the floor at your next event...and see what reactions you get.
@@millsbomb007 We'd have it in a phone box back then... ;)

Such freedom of expression. A diverse social crowd unified by music and dance. We have forgotten how to be, and instead tow a bullshit line. How f***ing sad!

Same! I was born in '82, old enough to be aware of the scenes from the late 80s/early 90s (rave, acid house, even grunge) but too young to partake. Always felt like I missed the boat. So grateful for UA-cam and the good people who upload and archive this stuff!
At 7, or 8 years old? 🧐

quality !!!!!!!!! big up 89 :)
people looking at other people whilst they are dancing tend to copy the dance moves of each other... so they all eventually end up dancing in unison, yet with their own style and moves... simpatico with the patterns of music, the same head bobs, the same thrashing arm movements... some try and push the envelope of uniqueness but end up with a one way ticket to twatville very quickly... occasionally the ultra-cool bibble-bouncer comes along and gets copied by everyone else... this is how religions and cults start for gods sake... I wonder do people dance today like in this video... or had everyone been fractured and pigeon holed, festivals I suppose... anyway, I can talk toss...
A different world.
The G at the end. Hope he got famous. Looks like Andre Benjamin.
he would've only been 14

Why would anyone dislike this gem? Fuck me I was in Oxfordshire when this and the Raydon airfield rave happened in Suffolk. Fml

I was a ticket agent for the illegal Biology rave held at the empty Panasonic warehouse on the Bath Road in Slough. Ironically I didn't go. lol
I was also a ticket agent for two Atmosphere raves. It was by accident that I became a ticket agent. I was on my way to the Dungeons in Hackney and I was lost. A car stopped and asked where the Dungeons was and I said I didn't know and was trying to find it myself and the guys said jump in. So I did and they said they were going to put on a rave called "Atmosphere" and asked if I would like to be a ticket agent. So I said yes and after that I started to receive calls form other promoters including the guys who did Biology.
Quiero darle vida. Me parece atemporal. Pero sólo es una idea. Recien estoy comenzando a planificar como.
You bumped into Dave & Paul (Atmosphere) I was there ;)
