it's still pretty good. My 460 is an MSI 768mb version. have recently bought a GT1030, but the 460 is still being kept in service at a backup pc. the only minor problem I had with the 460 is the gpu is huge, it's length barely fits into the case.
My GTX 460 recently gave up on life. Lasted me 8 years! Great card for sure but really not meant for 1080p. I found it much more enjoyable to run 720p and higher graphic settings and with that the 460 could handle most games just fine :)
i managed to buy two of these gtx 460 1GB both the exact same for £10 for both so essentially £5 each, i used them to build my 4 year old son a budget gaming pc and honestly im impressed for its age and specs. it beats the gt710 and plays any game he's thrown at it, its only paired with an athlon 870k and 8GB of ddr3 but it keeps up with my daughters 3200g that has 16Gb memory and for a fraction of the price too, iv found just because this hardware is old doesn't make it redundant, my son idolizes his computer and i cant wait to upgrade him to newer hardware :)
After quite a few years of using this card alongside my 2500K, I just today went and bought an RX 5600 XT to replace my aging 460 :) The 2500K is still paired with this new card and will require an overclock to about 5GHz haha, however, my 460 can finally rest it's 1GB of VRAM lol
So im using gtx 460 with asus vp249 144hz monitor. The monitor comes with a Hdmi to Hdmi cable but gtx 460 has 2 dual link dvi and 1 mini hdmi. I try using Hdmi to Hdmi but convert it into Dual link dvi but it only output 60hz at 1080p. Then i tried connecting my laptop to my Asus 144hz monitor using the hdmi cable that comes with the monitor and it output 120hz. How do i output 120-144hz? Should I buy another converter? Cable? Note that gtx 460 has 2dual link dvi and 1mini hdmi it doesn't have hdmi or display port.
Hi there. New subscriber here. Your presentation skills are pretty good and not to over the top. Ive only seen this video and i like it. Going to check some more and let my freinds and colleagues know about you. Thanks
So hypothetically if I had a brand new AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and an X570 AORUS PRO Motherboard, would I be able to use my gtx460 until the GPU shortage is over?
You can, but the gtx 460 will be the bottleneck. If you can find a 750ti or RX 460, they will be better options until the shortage crap ends. Game on! 🕹🎮🖥🖱⌨
I'm a cheap bastard don't trade cards until they break or get really awful slow, my GTX 460 last me 6 years(stop working for some reason), hope my RTX 2070 can last me 6 years a least :P
@@qwertiee Buying a strong card means no upgrade need for a very long time, PS5 just launch, the GPU on the console is about the same power an RTX 2070, maybe I can keep this card until they launch PS6, that would be very cheap solution.
@@qwertiee How much did u pay for the GTX 460? Why not getting something new and very cheap like a used or new GT 1030 or RX 550 that would last much longer and play games much better? GTX 460 is like some 90 years old dude that had 3 heart attacks just waiting to die on you. The used market in Brasil is kind of crazy, really expensive no way to trust the sellers, so I always got buy new :(
@@ericsilva7430 Yea man I knowww I would never buy a card like this. I got this as a hand me down from a family member tho... I don't really care too much about the card lifespan rn lol. It's a pre decent upgrade from the 450 so I'm happy with it for now. Btw got it all cleaned up, and it's running decently at 1080P 144Hz. Sadly I can't use 1440P 144Hz since the HDMI port card output that (I think).
Unfortunately yes. The 560m (like the 460 here) are no longer supported by Nvidia (driver updates have stopped for them) and it's also slower than the GTX 460
I'm still running 8800gts 512mb lol. When I found out it draws 40w in idle, after all those years, it basicaly burned 200$ as I had years when I was lots in idle lol. That's bad right? Lol. Then I've tried to upgrade to GTS250, at least bit of upgrade build on same core and architecture, but less nanometres. Bought it for 12$, but someone sent me card with artefacts lol. So mission unsuccessfull. Am back on 8800GTS lol, and I've wasted my money reserved for graphic card lol. But it was good try. But unsuccessful lol. Next try, I am thinking about GTX 460. I remember how I've dream about it in 2010, then in 2011 for 560 ti, as it had already 3x more power, than 8800GTS, but unfortunately, never got into graphic card upgrade from then. :( First, it was too expensive 150$ for used one, or 250$ for new one, then... I never had money for wasting, even 30$ was too much. Now I can try , every attempt for like 20$ every month, so I try to get eighter GTS 450 or GTX 460 as new attempt of upgrading card after 10 years. :) So Crabman Gaming, appreciate what you have. :)
The 460m is. It has GDDR5 memory vs the ddr3 of the 840m and is part of the mid range mobile chips whereas the GeForce 840m is part of the lower end range. Similar to the desktops versions, anything under a gtx 750 for example, will in most cases be beaten by mid range offerings from 2 generations ago if that makes sense

Yeah, much better playing 720p on medium/high than playing 1080p on low.
so your saying that integrated graphics kick the 460's ass at gaming gotcha
