K swaps are also pretty good! It would sit further back into the firewall and still retain a good weight balance. Tuning is also much better with those Honda motors!
K-swaps are not as original in my opinion. But yeah they are better engines in every way so I get your point.
@@Sakonetatar1perhaps but I think it’s better than an ls swap since it’s a lightweight engine and can boost it. The handling would remain the same or better! I’ve never heard of an SR20 swap until now

@@Sakonetatar1 Just a conversational reply(not being a contrarian) but I think its a bit silly to not choose an engine because its been done several times before. I mean, if someone wants something unique, thats cool too and im never against it if someone is able to do it. In fact, I support it all the time because the more people do it, the more information out there there is for others to do similar swaps. Plus, competition "can" bring swap costs down.
However, for me, it just makes sense to pick something that works great already and is already well documented and done several times before. Like LS swaps, its not unique but no one who ever drove an LS swapped anything has been unhappy with the power it makes and at the end of the day, the enjoyment of your own car is what matters most 🙂
@@jrod1577 I agree with you, it's a matter of preferences at the end of the day. Some people aim for performance when swapping an engine while for others, performance is not the main concern. Personally, I think swaps we are not used to see often add more character to the car, but again that's my taste.

The fa20 is such a weak piece of crap. Im currently doing a beams swap.
Beams is cool. FA20 can last a long ass time if left stock and oil changed religiously
@@Nick_Ramirez I changed mine frequently, what I really think I needed was an oil cooler and oil pan baffle.

@@Nick_Ramirez drifted it. Only lasted 1.5 events. I had an oil pressure gauge and was keeping a close eye one it but you can only pay so much attention mid drift and it only takes a second to wreck an engine due to low oil pressure.
@@devonswindell9735 damn. Everyone at knuckle up in texas hot laps their car. Half of them have close to 100k mile engines, no oil coolers, and no issues.

I have no clue about other engines, espacily top JDM-engines. I only once had the chance to drive shotgun LS3 Swap in a GT86, it was swesome. In Germany Swaps are very difficult because of the officals. I've got my 2012 GT86 in Jan2017 with 72tkm (44738miles) on it, and took it to the track. Scince then i do 4 - 6 Trackdays a year and drive my car daily to work. After 3years when my car hit 132tkm (82020miles) i put a Turbo on it and do now about 310hp. It's absolut gorgeous for the German Autobahn, but not the best choice for me for the track. To keep things short, i'm missing the FA20 NA attitude. Drive a ''slow'' car fast is something diffrent. The only engine i would put in my GT86 is the newer FA24, but only interessting when my FA20 blows up and i dont know its even possible to swap. I'm now at 183tkm (113710miles) and still runnig good. 🤘😎 @Nick: keep the good work up. Love your Videos. ❤🔥

Is a engine swap even worth it for only 50-100hp?
Probably not. This swap is not the most practical and is really for someone who just wants something unique or has a deep love for the SR20. Also, some might argue that the SR20 has a lot of potential to push more HP reliability than the FA20.
Yes absolutely. Considering u will already have a better platform for boost. If u want more and reliable power in future and a bigger aftermarket support. I bought my gt86 with knocked motor very cheap and I wanted it like that coz I hate that Subaru trash. I swapped in a 3sge and after purposely blowing it up from all the eggerated hooning I'm running 3sgte..stock doing 280 hp. I like to stay in the family tho.
