Hi so hurt my wrist through repetitive folder turning and paper filing for hours and hours . Do I submit my claim first and then go to my doctor for OT/ortho reference or do I do vice versa go to doctor and get that work-related injury diagnosis and then afterwards apply for workers comp? Thanks

If you believe you were injured at work, the first step is to complete the Claim Form (the DWC-1). The employer/insurance company will send you to their doctor first. After that first visit you can then select your own doctor from within the MPN (if there is one).

Hello got diagnosed with nerve damage neck, cubital tunnel syndrome, and got hit in forearm area. Can I get for body parts

My favorite answer - it depends. The AMA Guides generally assign whole person impairment based on the body part, diagnosis, and its impact on activities of daily living. So nerve damage alone, may not be ratable. But if there is nerve damage in the neck that results in radiating pain into the arms, that's one issue. If there is nerve damage with numbness or tinging, that's another way to address it. Same goes for cubital tunnel and forearm. Getting hit in the forearm may result in an injury, and that injury may lead to grip loss, or loss of range of motion, or numbness/tingling. All of those are ratable differently. The key to you will likely be selecting the best possible panel QME to address your level of whole person impairment.

      @@myworkerscompguide thanks.
Am in works of settlement talks but now my diagnosis has changed. I first got just a contusion to forearm. How many parts are with diagnosis with this? Arm,hand,sholder,neck...

@@renee1484 It really depends. You note that you're in settlement talks, which are always possible at any time. However, most settlements in workers' comp take place after the QME finds you P&S. So once you reach that stage your condition is unlikely to change much over the following year with or without treatment. At that stage it's easier for the QME to address what the final impairment is. So a forearm contusion may cause numbness and weakness initially, but then after treatment and after P&S status is reached, the QME will address WPI at that time. So which body parts are affected by a forearm contusion, it depends on what the doctors find at P&S, as it may include the arm, hand, shoulder, or it may completely resolve and include no WPI at all.
