What an awesome review, Gusto. Thank you for doing that survival ration's justice - sealing it in time. So glad you got to experience this one - that chocolate bar.. gosh I wish I had 100 of those things, they're do delicious, stimulating, and unusual. Fantastic work, as slways!
Steve1989MREInfo thank you Steve! This was certainly a fun one to experience.
The 1 and only steve👌 A Very nice!
Nice!
Great to hear Steve1989 came through the hurricanes safe and sound.
Great review Gusto. 😃
I love you both
Sent by Steve?
Nice!
Ren nice indeed!
I think the meat bar can be eaten dry, but ideally is supposed to be boiled into a beef soup. You get compressed meat cubes in German supermarkets, just like bullion cubes. That is probably why the aluminium can is shaped that way instead of being separated along the long circumference, as you'd normally expect, so you can use the two halfs kind of like cups and boil water in it.
You're not the only one the design appeals to. I love the look of it. Very classy and functional, an example of the best aspects of German design
The Conrad Channel just a beautiful ration. My favorite so far as far as appearance
RC Gusto I think it is my favourite I've seen for appearance too though it might be beaten by the fascinating looking pilots abandon aircraft Viet Nam era one Steve opened up with all the little tubes of fishing kits etc and the various cool gadgets. fascinating. The one which appeals to me most in that I want to eat ALL of it is shawker's one on MRE info, the 6 man Russian one
Very cool sir. Hope all is well. Those metal cases are awesome friend. That is A rare ration indeed. I have only seen 3 reviews on this, all originated from Steve1989, thank you also Steve. Ration held up very well for the age. Peace, John, AKA Magnum.
MultiMagnum62 thanks John!
Been watching Steve's vids for a while, but had to check you out based on his comments. Great vid, subscribed
Matt W thank you very much! Steve is a great dude and has helped me so much over the past year or so
this is amazing; when I discovered your channel thanks to Steve, I had to subscribe. Nice! I can imagine that chocolate was wonderful; then again, its German chocolate, and they sure do have good chocolate in general, never mind in rations. I can imagine it was fantastic. And the caramel, too. Sounds heavenly.
This one has been my fav ever since i saw Steve1989 do it.
Good job on yours too. More rations should be made like this.
It's really inspiring to me.
I would like to see these made today including matches with a thin stainless steel case and a wire wrap that doubles as a stand and handle to boil water with on an open fire. (or include a flat esbit stove pack with even just one esbit blister pack.)
Sketti Boi I like it! This is an awesome ration.
RC Gusto - yeah futuristic too like you said.
dear rc....
great video on that survival ration. i ve seen of them in germany at military museums..
greet to see it alive in work.
greetings from cologne, germany
arthur 👍
Arthur Brehm thanks for watching!
Just from all the cuts in the video editing (translating part) I can tell you put a lot of work into the video. Thanks!
Really great review RC enjoyed it and like how you guys share things with each other. And i got to say you guys are brave for the things you try even if they are off.
sharon maurer thanks! This was a good one. I love trading with steve
You are so welcome. It looked awesome and i really like watching Steve. Hes the first one i watched. My roommate told me about him and i got hooked. Got to check out more of the people you guys post.
Nicely done Gusto! Always enjoy these old, unique rations!
Henry Soltysinski thanks! This one was awesome
"Which makes this chocolate bar caffeinated" for the record all chocolate is caffeinated. There's about 43mg of caffeine per 100g of dark chocolate. That's more then a cup of coffee.
Awesome review mate. Thanks for letting us know that the rancid oils won't hurt you. I am put at ease in thinking of some MREs to consume in the future. LOL
Ol' Mate Dropbear yes. Spoiled food is dangerous. Rancidity just tastes gross. Always go with your eyes and nose. First impressions matter
So what kind of nutritional value do sugar bars have then?
Great review, and thanks for showing us your "studio" setup.
Rocky Raab thank you!
I can't be the only one that thought his videos were done in a special room and the black background was a legit wall
Luke nope...my living room coffee table!
Luke - when i first saw one of his vids i thought it was done in the trunk of like an suv and the dark seem down the middle was the gap between the two rear seats. I usually don't go above 240p when watching so that was partly why.
Great taste test of the German Survival Ration. Very interesting.
ForeignMRE.com thank you!
Nice video and I hope you kept the tin.
AlabamaShrimp absolutely kept it
"Reminds me of the future" as ur eating 50 years in the future lol
Davey boy001 exactly. It just has a futuristic feel about it, even now. Really cool ration.
the 1967 on the front refers to the BBD, so it was packed in 1963, as stated in the Stamp of the can
And the tea was meant for 2-3 cups of water so thats why it didnt dissolve so well
Oh wow! Even better! Thanks for the info.
Wow that can is in awesome shape. Steve1989 you sent a great one. Wow I am impressed with the look of the chocolate. Nice to see the meat bar survived, but it would be really odd to me to eat one of those, but maybe if you reconstituted it and made like a soup from it. What a great review, and an awesome survival ration. Thank you for the awesome review.
1963 year of kennedy assiniation sad day
Mike Nauer definitely
You know there is a museum where they have window area in texas. And it is a complete reconstruction because Oswald isnt there.
-Bill hicks
Next time you get a meat bar, try rehydrating it in some warm water. It tastes a lot better that eating it cold.
As a german: on the cover of the tea is written that its for 3 cups
Lad,cheers from Brazil!
Awesome: That can was made the year I was born... looked bomb-proof.
Coolest looking ration yet. You could store some cool stuff (weed?) in that metal container. Even better, you could fabricobble something out of it.
Of course!
very unique find
Love it!
The Retro Gamer thank you!
Hey Gusto Another awesome review - i just love the case
IronWarning Ration Reviews such a cool package! Very unique
amazing
Great video rc
ladybassplayer23 thank you!
How do you get all of these?
Liam Sullins steve1989 sent it to me! Otherwise, I look on eBay and also have some other forums and friends that help me find stuff.
Nice view on a piece of ration history and a piece from the time of the Berlin Wall
Nice!
thecman26 thank you!
That seems like a lot of work to set up and deconstruct per video. Wife fury avoided?
snowranger19 she's good with it
Nice one 👍
Interesting ration :-)
Cool! :)
Liis Liis a very cool ration. Thanks for watching!
I think the meat bar is supposed to be made into a boullion soup. Interesting video.
Karl P that would certainly be a possibility.
never been so early in a Rc Gusto video
Rene Santiago congrats! Thanks for watching!
Have you named the skull? seems fitting as he is the...ahem...face of your channel.
Pete Hall Bobbie.
That ration is soooooo German. I love it! Hehehe...
Noooooooo, not the wrappers
indivually wrapped for your protection
Bryan Kibler I needed protection from those things...pretty sour
Cey Tea?, Sounds like See Ya Tea...make sure it's not Cyonide:)
F. Peña it was a little rough.
007 ration
S. C. Mack it would look good in the glovebox of a silver DB-5
Man, out four mins and I'm already comment #6
E Anderson better luck next time
E Anderson 12*
Gusto do more videos geeez man im hanging!
IdunCareLesSn00b will do! I'm filming the other survival ration videos this week
Great man you and Steve are the best keep up the good work!
You couldve shown the channel who stole your videos so we could shut him down.
Cookee I didn't want to publicly call them out--didn't want my channel to get flagged.
St Jude? Isn't he supposed to be the Patron Saint for hopeless causes? Not exactly the most optimistic name for a children's home.
leighrate or desperate cases...like childhood cancer. This is a center of cancer care and research.
Don't know what it's called, but you know the skips during the video you have edited in? Please stop, those are hard to watch. Otherwise, dig the videos.
Keith Emery yeah, the jump cuts were particularly bad in this one...I fumbled words a lot. I run into that sometimes because I don't script.
Was just thinking what douche would steal your vids ? He ( or she ) probably doesn't have good lighting in his ( or her ) mama's basement, and there would be no need for rations as mama makes all the food every time - all the time....me thinks, so O.K. that might be the reason... I personally don't have a problem with ' watermarking ' ones vids, kinda like the skull - as these rations can be hit...or miss :D
LycanthropiesSpell "MOM! MEATLOAF!"
Third like, Nice. Good video btw.
Hunter Nichols thank you!
as a german I understand the text ;)
DERP DERPSTER was I close? I used google translate
You were pretty spot on. It's actually nice they thought about giving the soldiers some extra flavours in the package for diversity. Greetings from Germany. ;-)
RC Gusto . I will just add that the tea packet said " suitable for 3 glasses"
( cups )
Jörg Schimmer good to know
NOTICE ME GUSTO
Average Ukeplayer you're noticed.
