Ego Multi Head system: Don't buy Ego products on Amazon, Ego doesn't recognize it for warranty.
These are expensive luxury lawn item, but an amazing product as an alternative to string timers aka weed whackers aka whipper snippers aka nipsnippers aka shin greenifyers.
The Short Cut Lawn must have noted this • Reel Low Cut Grass wit... and sent his Idech Power Rotary Scissors to Stiperman aka Keith of Long Island Lawns, who then sent them to me. I'm very grateful to you fellas and to our Lawn Goon community. And thanks Jonathon!
I used the Ego MultiHead system to power the Scissors. I bought it as a combo EGO POWER+ 8" EDGER & POWER HEAD system. I bought this one because it was the cheapest combo of a power head plus an attachment. I knew I wasn't going to use the attachment because I'd put on the Idech Scissors in it's place.

Idech Power Rotary Scissors / Landscape Blade (Seago International) - Навчання та стиль
I know this is an old thread but I found it trying to figure out how to mount it and make it straight when putting it on the edger as a donor. You may have figured it out by now but super easy to drill a 2nd hole in the shaft of the edger. Viola motor and handle are upright and at the correct angle to use the scissors.
No way, that is simple and awesome solution! Thanks for sharing! Did you do anything with the plastic bushing, or simply drill through that as well?
@@kove I simply put it together, marked where I'd drill. Found the exact size bit and pulled the scissors back off, drilled the edger shaft for the right orientation and put the scissors back on. Not thinking I remember any plastic bushing.. it had a metal sleeve, actually used two which was recommended for the EGO. Those are on the scissors section that goes over the shaft, I drilled the hole with all that off the edger shaft
@@crockette1962 Just got through using them again. Each time I'm thinking of your solution and wish I'd have done it already lol. I will do this soon, it makes perfect sense! Thank you Crockette!
@@kove Ya so for you it should be as simple as take the one screw out that goes into the shaft and loosen the other one on the collar. Rotate the head to where you want it and mark through the screw hole with a marker or scratch a spot with a small nail, pull off the scissors and grab the bit that barely fits in the hole that's already on the shaft and drill the new one, put it back on, done. Let me know how it works for you, should be a ten minute deal. I put some duct tape inside out in the shaft when I drilled so shavings didn't fall into the shaft and then get down in the scissors.
@@alangray9905 Seems straight forward, I'm going to give this a go! Thanks Alan!
You will absolutely love this! Why would anybody not want this amazing tool??? Oh maybe they broke it!
tick tock, at any rate I need to get it working
oh my god!! thank you for posting this video!! I was searching a lot for videos or forums who uses Ego multi head Edger to swap with rotary scissors. Most people uses the trimmer so I was guessing there must be some reason why nobody used the edger with rotary scissors. Did you figure out and made it work??
seems like there are multiple suggestions.. Can you post a video how you made it work? I'm not super handy, but I would like to try. thank you..!!
Thanks for checking it out, glad it was helpful. First, you need to make sure the head of any unit is powered by a shaft, and the powersource/motor on the other end. That said, it'd imagine many different heads would work. This one is working now after I took the Rotary scissors apart, cleaned, and filled with new grease. I also found using a high capacity battery gave more power oddly enough.
@@kove Thank you for your reply. I wasn't so sure but I had ordered Ego multi head Edger with 2.5ah. Later I wondered I may have problem with this (lower ah of its battery). I hope it works okay, otherwise I am thinking to return and order a string trimmer & edger multi head set with 5ah battery (much more expensive).
Nice 👍🏼 love that tool but it’s a bit on the heavy side, with my neck and tennis elbow injury I could not fully enjoy using it. I figured i’d rather have somebody put it to good use than rust away in my garage. You made a comment in one of my vid that you wanted one so I told Striperman if it doesn’t work out with him, pass it to you. 👊🏼😎
It is quite heavy compared to string trimmers and the balance is much different. I got it spinning with extra grease and loosening the dozen or so nuts, however I'm hesitant to use it with them loosened. I'm hoping sitting with the grease and running it w/o the blade will make it smooth so I can tighten up the nuts again.
I bought one of these over the winter. I put it on a Husqvarna trimmer and had kind of the same problem. The trimmer bogged down, hard and wouldn’t turn the thing. I put a drill on the “inner shaft” and made the unit spin around. After a few minutes it loosened up and spun fine on the trimmer. Hoping it works fine when it actually comes time to use it.
Great idea, thanks Joe!
Did you put the Chuck on the shaft where it connects in the middle, or use the drill with a male adapter directly into the cutting head?
I grabbed one of the extra inserts the tool came with and put a torx bit inside that fit and put that on the drill. It wasn't a perfect fit but it worked well enough to make it spin. I figured if it chewed up the insert it wouldn't be a big deal because I didn't need that one anyway.
@@vwbeaner Great idea!
These are cool. Hope you can get them to work!
Working on it!
Hi Koven, I’m planning to do this setup. I was wondering if you were able to make it work and how. I don’t want to get the string trimmer kit because its more expensive than the edger kit. And I guess I can replace the edger once in a while when I need to.
Indeed did get it to work! Problem was two fold, cold weather making the metal tighter, plus was using an old,2 Amp hour battery. Once it warmed up, I added grease and a 5 amp hour battery and it works like a champ! Warning, it is heavy, and you'll need to hold it sidways because the 90 gearing of the edging. That said, I'm completely used to it now.
Thanks, Koven!
I've been wondering the size of john ware's shaft
The Lawn Whisperer
You would!
... I’m jealous that you beat me to it 😂
@@TheLawnTools 😏
This doesn't surprise me.
The shaft def matches the Ego.
@@kove the "SCL" written on it stands for shaft circumference/length, right?
Hopefully you figure it out- those seem to be pretty awesome!!
Oh, I will.
Check your battery level, it tends to do that when there’s not enough juice, or the inner rod might not be seated right.....definitely not broken.
Good to know, I'm going to double check it all, charge it up, and apply some grease.
Always make sure your inner rod is seated right
@@TheLawnWhisperer 👌
First. Nice to see all the lawn videos starting up again.
Agreed, i've got cabin fever
Pretty jealous! I want those so bad
From what I've seen, they are amazing!
Not the ending I was expecting 😧
There was another "twist" I didn't show.
The injection ports for the grease are tiny and you need a squeeze tube with a tapered dispenser don't you? I don't want to spend the money and shipping on the maruyama ep grease but buying the tubes of grease for cheaper creates the challenge of how to inject it doesn't it?
I've found using a regular grease tip pressed against the bare holes works just fine. I open both holes and fill until it comes out the other end.
@@kove I don't know how viscous the EP grease you have is but I have read that overfilling the tool can be problematic, just as overtightening the fasteners can bind it up, too much grease impedes the function as well. I don't know, I haven't tested it, I have just read about it and it's very specific about adding 10CC of grease to the gear box every 25 hours and 20CC of grease to the blade chamber(two screws injection ports) every 10 hours. Just wondered if it really matters, seems overlubricating would be better than not enough, and what is the actual issue that happens when overfilling? I dunno.
@@wcbscout The first time I greased it I used a baby syringe for the exact amount (Chevron Delo Grease EP NLGI 0). After that PITA and mess, I started using the grease gun. Good to go so far, but low hours, maybe 6 total.
@@kove I was wondering if a meat injection syringe or medicinal dosing syringe would be of use. Sounds like it is a hassle!
What did that box do to you?!? Dem’s fighting pokes!
XD
Do anyone know where i could buy the adapter kit?
What do you need, the shims, bits, or both?
@@kovethanks for you response... i just placed an order from Seago for the kit
Is yours the 9 or 11 inch model?
9 inch model.
Let me know if you have any questions. I have put mine through some abuse.
I've got a few good tips I'm thinking should get me in business. Did you put zerk fittings on yours?
Reel Low Dad
I think he has a question.... how do you get it to work?!

Certified 2nd.
I looked up the cost ... I was thinking maybe $80 .... NOPE!!!
It's expensive indeed. Definitely a luxury type tool.
